IT FELT LIKE THE LONGER DAYS OF MY EXISTENCE, waiting for Igor's return.
I had regained my strength. I knew moving wouldn't hurt as much as it had, not that I tried. I couldn't risk giving Mary Alice a vision.
What felt like a hundred nights later, Igor returned.
"You're definitely looking better," he said softly at the entrance to my cave.
"Igor!" I cheered and ran up to him. The pain shot through me, reminding me that I hadn't fully healed yet, but I pushed through it to hold Igor again.
"Take it easy, you're still healing," he said as he guided me back to the ground.
I let myself collapse in his cold embrace. Breathe in his sweet scent... he had kept his promise, he hadn't killed the humans.
     Demetri, Jane, and Alex however...
"You said they wouldn't die," I muttered.
"I said I wouldn't kill them. I have no control over the Volturi's actions. Carlisle and I tried to convince them otherwise-"
     "I know. Thank you."
Carlisle and Igor had tried to convince the Volturi guard who had come, to let the humans off with some sort of injury, life-threatening but not untreatable. Except they had ordered, protect vampires, and these humans, according to what they knew, had killed a vampire, almost two. So they were killed for it.
"We need to see them. I need to see them. Explain..." I muttered as I tried to stand again, Igor helped. "I can't stand Carlisle thinking me dead any longer. And you are never leaving my side again."
I used what little strength I had to pull him towards me.
He laughed and painfully kissed me. As painful as it was, it was magical. I wanted to hold him there, keep him right there where there was nothing but us as this cave.
He broke us apart with a groan and looked at me again.
"You need to heal, and your family needs to see that you're alive," he reminded me he took off his jacket and softly placed it over my shoulders. "But I promise you, Miss Elizabeth, once your family knows you're safe, you and I are going somewhere alone, warm, and without any distractions. But only after you're fully healed."
"I don't know if I can wait that long," I teased as I hooked my fingers under his belt.
"Happy couple?" he asked with a giant, boyish smirk.
"I almost died," I reminded him.
"I love you," he groaned and almost kissed me again. Almost. He must want me as much as I wanted him at that moment... just had more control. "But we must focus on the now. Your family has to know you're alive."
I finally agreed, controlled my own head and let him help me stand once more.
Running was difficult. It hurt to move and every step sent pain shooting up to my shoulders from my feet. Eventually, I took a step and my knees caved and Igor fell to his beside me.
"Guess I'm not that much better," I laughed at myself.
"I'll get you something to drink," Igor said.
He wasn't gone for long, he returned with a struggling bear in his hands that he lowered to me. I tore through its flesh like it was nothing and draining it completely.
"Just a warning, Igor," I said as I threw the corpse away. "I may get used to having my meals brought to me."
"You still look weak; I'm going to get you another."
He kissed me before leaving again. Sending a better heat and a much more appealing flame straight through me. I sat on my legs, keeping them closed and thought of anything but Igor. Carlisle, I made myself think of Carlisle.
While I was distracting myself with thoughts of my brother, Igor returned with probably the largest bear I had ever seen.
     "Wow," I gasped.
"Shall we?" He waved to the animal.
I tore through its thick hide and heard, and felt, it when Igor joined in the drink. Of course, he had waited for me to get a few mouthfuls before joining.
The strength of the giant bear was definitely preferred. And once he threw away the corpse, he helped me up.
     "Better?" He asked.
     "Very."
I smiled at him and we began running again. Once at the Cullen residence, I waited in the tree for Igor.
"Igor, welcome back," Carlisle said warmly. He sounded okay. For now. "I wasn't expecting you."
I caught sight of Edward in the window, he was looking directly at me and he was smiling.
For a brief moment, I wondered how I looked. Igor had given me his coat so I wrapped that firmly around myself to hide any monstrous sights the flames had left on me and my clothing...
I tried to also smooth my now short hair out, but I paused when I felt the ash of my cheek.
No, I wasn't better. I was still healing. I probably still looked like I shouldn't have survived.
     Edward nodded at something.
"I came to apologise, brother. For something, we fear you may not forgive us for," Igor started.
     "What's happened?" Carlisle asked.
"I have lied to you, and your family."
     "Lied? About what?"
"Your sister," Igor said calmly. "Elizabeth. She jumped out of the back wall of the Hospital. She was still... she was..."
"She was closer to death than any of us would have been comfortable, Carlisle," Edward finished for Igor.

Thank you, I thought to my nephew.
"Igor looked after her, fed her. But even kept her a secret from us so what needed to happen, could happen."
     "Elizabeth's alive?"
Mary Alice then ran out to me. She stood in front of me as I leant on a tree and she offered her hand out to me.
"Do you need help inside?" She asked.
     "Mary Alice-"
"Oh, I'm not mad at you, Liz," she laughed. "It needed to happen. I'm just surprised you managed to keep your future empty so there was nothing for me to see! That was interesting to find out!"
I took her hand and she walked, slowly for our kind, with me towards the house. Igor met me at the porch and took her place by my side.
"How are you feeling?" he asked me again.
"Guilty," I answered and looked at my brother.
If I focused on how close Igor was to me at that moment... For Edward and Jasper's sake, I forced myself to not even think it.
"Elizabeth," Carlisle's voice said in a breath.
I could only imagine what he was seeing. I had felt the ash of my cheek, but I had refused to look at myself anyway else. I didn't know the rest of the damage.
The one Cullen we hadn't met yet walked up to us and held her hand up to Igor. Renesmee Carlie Masen Cullen.
"She puts her thoughts into others heads," I whispered to Igor. "She's safe. It's like the reverse of what Edward can do."
Igor took Renesmee's thoughts willingly, but whatever it was made Edward and Igor flinch.
     "Worse," Igor said.
     "What-"
"She's trying to imagine what Liz looked like when she jumped out of the Hospital," Edward answered Bella.
     "Oh."
"Renesmee," I said as Igor pulled away from her hand.
She let him go and then walked up to Carlisle, holding her hand out.
"Only if you want to see, Grandpa," Renesmee said in her beautiful sing-song voice I had never heard before.
Carlisle nodded and she rested her hand on his cheek. He flinched and snarled. It was something that startled both Esme and me.
"Do you still believe the human should have been left alive, brother?" Igor asked holding on to me.
     "Igor," I hissed.
"I now think we didn't do enough," Carlisle growled.
     "Brother!" I gasped.
"She has not seen herself," Igor explained. "She does not know the extent of her own damage."
"Would you like to?" Nessie asked me, holding her hand out.
"No, thank you," I answered. "I'll wait for a mirror. My own mirror, Mary Alice!" I added quickly as Mary had begun running for the stairs.
     "Liz," Carlisle sighed again.
     "I'm so sorry, Carlisle."
I was suddenly in his arms, not that I minded. We were holding each other that it stung. A lot. But I ignored it. Carlisle was my brother, and right now... I didn't want to let go.
"You look horrible," he whispered and a chuckle burst through my lips.
Mary's gasp and Edward's low growl broke us quickly apart.
     "What is it?" Carlisle asked.
"You have got to be kidding me," Edward growled.
"He wasn't alone," Mary said, her eyes still distant. "He had friends. People working with him. This... they, more than one. They're being messy. Planning everything out. Seriously?"
     "Humans," Edward growled.
"We all used to be one, Edward," Esme said calmly.
"I'm sure we were all a lot smarter than them," Edward growled.
"What are they doing, Edward? Alice?" I asked with a sigh. "Who are they going to kill?"
"They are trying to kill us. They... wait... no!" Mary gasped. "Edward?"
"How did we not see those?" Edward retaliated.
     "Or smell them?"
"What are you two weirdos talking about?" Emmett growled.
Edward ran to the corner and climbed up to the top of the bookshelf where he pulled off the tiniest thing I had ever seen. At first sight, I thought it was dust, but then I smelt the metallic.
     "A hidden camera?" Bella asked.
"They know I'm still alive," I gasped. Fear washed over me and I felt myself starting to retreat to the door. Igor stopped me like a barricade in my way.
"You're not their only target now," Edward said calmly. "All vampires are."
"Alice, can you see where this group is hiding?" Igor asked. "Shall we try and handle this without the Volturi this time?"
     "Let's," Rosalie muttered.
     "What'd I miss?"
I felt the heat of the worst smelling human I'd ever met as he walked past me. He was too hot to be a normal human, that temperature would have him Hospitalised.
"Jacob, meet Elizabeth and Igor. Liz, Igor, this is Jacob. He's not our pet—"
"I knew I smelt dog on him," Igor muttered.
"Mine," Nessie said wrapping her arms around Jacob protectively.
I smiled and cringed back into Igor. "He smells," I mumbled. "Bad."
"You get used to it," Carlisle chuckled.
"I can't imagine how," Igor grunted.
"Holy shit! What happened to her?!" Jacob suddenly yelled, staring straight at me.
Well, so I definitely looked worse than I felt. I found myself rolling my eyes again, but this time it sent my head spinning in the worst of senses. I plummeted once again into a darkness I was beginning to become afraid of.
