Arthur woke with a ragged gasp, followed by a heart wrenching sob. He curled up in his bed, hiding underneath his blanket, which was remarkably similar to the American flag. He pressed his face into the mattress to muffle his violent sobs, nails digging Into his arms hard enough to draw blood, crimson dripping onto his fingers and sheets. The nightmares had plagued him since the last World Meeting, which had ended so horribly.

It was an argument like normal, but Alfred had gotten increasingly impatient, before screaming,

"THIS IS WHY I LEFT YOU!"

A shocked silence fell over the room, and Arthur, biting back his tears, yelled,

"And this is why I fucking hate you!"

Before storming off, leaving horrified countries in his wake.

Alfred looked startled by the Brit's words,as did every other nation in the room, all whom were scared silent.

Matthew was the first to speak, standing from his chair. He didn't quail as all eyes turned to him when he cleared his throat, instead saying venomously at Alfred,

"How dare you. You realise that he still has nightmares over that, right?"

The pure anger in the Canadian's amethyst eyes frightened even Ivan, and the Russian clutched his lead pipe nervously.

"The meeting's over. Go home,"

Matthew hissed, and the other nations obeyed, surprisingly, getting up,eager to leave the tension. Alfred stood at his spot, glaring at his older brother, and the way Arthur had gone.

Arthur shook and tried to choke back a sob,his pillow pressed against his mouth to muffle it,and not wake the young nation downstairs.

The nightmare thundered in his ears, deathly loud. 'You were so great.'

Arthur sobbed until dawn, not moving from his position.

That night, the great United Kingdom contemplated suicide.

Across the sea,to the West,America basked in its freedom, unaware that its original mother country was falling into a depression.
