A Serial Murderer
CHOICE: Stay put to wait for the anonymous to leave
"We should wait. I have a landline in the living room...." I stuttered silently.
They exchanged glances but agreed willingly. My heart beating even faster, I saw the shadowy figure. However, he was right by the window. Luckily, the curtains covered us. If it wasn't there, we would've been dead.
I stood up and volunteered to go out first - I was the smallest and shortest. Without any noise, I opened the door and dashed to the couch. The landline was inside this "mini" room, a division that supposedly for a closet or a storage. One problem is - it was next to the front door.
Ready to make another dash, I stopped dead on my tracks. The murderer has entered my home again. Sweating bullets, I tried to breathe without choking on air. My mind was running:
Please don't see me.
Please don't see me.
Please don't see me.For the hardest ten seconds of my life, he turned his back to leave. I was relieved, but I should've known better.
Someone sneezed.
I could hardly believe that. It sounded so stupid, but it was true. Because of one little mistake, the man came running down the hallway with a fatal mindset. First, I heard Jade's scream and shuffles to the restroom. The blood-curdling sobs and heavy bangs pierced my head.
I must act quick!
