Season 2/Chapter 58: End of the Road

Clementine cries, and Lee puts his arm around her.

Lee: Now let's try to get some sleep.

Clementine: Okay, Lee.

Clementine closes her eyes.

As Clementine's eyes close in the dream world, she finally wakes up in the real one while being shaken by the movement of the truck. She's laid down in the seat with her head on Y/n's lap. Kenny is driving, Jane is sitting in the passenger seat, holding AJ, Molly is beside Y/n on his other side.

Jane: On the left! Slow down!

Kenny: Shut up!

Molly: Can you both stop arguing for five minutes?! You're driving me nuts!

Y/n feels Clem move and looks down at her. 

Y/n: Holy shit! She's awake!

Clementine raises up and the others acknowledge her waking up. Y/n lays his head against hers and Molly reaches over, putting her hand on Clementine's shoulder. 

Molly: Glad to see you're okay. 

Kenny: Clem! Oh, thank God.

Jane: You passed out from the shock.

Y/n: We were worried as hell. 

Clementine: What happened? 

Kenny: That piece of shit Ruskie shot you.

Jane: We had to run the truck to keep you warm. 

There's a momentary pause and that's when Clem realizes somethings. Clementine looks around, even looking in the bed of the truck, but she doesn't find Carley. Confused, she promptly asks about her. 

Clementine: Where's Carley? 

Nobody says anything at first, but Y/n goes ahead and speaks up. 

Y/n: She's dead. 

Clementine's eyes widen and Y/n explains what happened. 

Y/n: Arvo tried shooting you while you were calling for Kenny, Jane, and Molly. I was focused on Bonnie and Carley was the one who saw him first. So she jumped in front of you and she ended up getting shot through the stomach which probably redirected the bullet that was headed for a more dangerous place, like your chest, to your shoulder. She bled out less than a minute after.

Clementine doesn't say anything, the pure shock running through her body and mind at the moment was overwhelming. However, Y/n places his hand on her leg and looks at her again. Trying to explain more. 

Y/n: She... She said she loved all of us. And Molly ended up being the one who put her down permanently. 

Clementine: A-And the others? 

Y/n: I killed them all. 

Clementine doesn't say much, but nods. 

Clementine: And Carley? 

Y/n: I didn't let the walkers get her. I sat her in the half built house and set it ablaze so her body wouldn't be disturbed. I'd rather her be consumed by fire than the dead. 

Clementine, again, nods. After a moment she sighs, there's nothing she can do right now. Her tears won't solve anything and she's gotta think about the others, especially AJ. So she dries whatever tears she has and raises her head up to look at her group. She can cry later, but not now. 

Molly: How do you feel?

Clementine: My shoulder hurts. 

Jane: Couldn't find the bullet. Must've gone clean through. It'll burn a while, but you'll be fine.
