C49 - Lies

Now I was the one staring at Dane's brother. "Something wrong?" he asked, looking down at his phone. "I'm just curious about that Alex guy. I saw him in the corridors sometimes," I said hesitatingly. "Firstly, my name's Hayden, so you won't have to address me as Dane's brother anymore. Secondly, what's the name of your boyfriend or ex?" he questioned, looking directly at me. I cast a glance at Dane, hoping he'd answer for me. He slightly shook his head, so I figured I had to answer myself. "Xavier," I lied. "No way," he answered, shaking his head at me. "What do you mean?" I swallowed oddly, my voice almost trembling. "You're lying to me." "She means Zane, his brother," Dane corrected. "Oh, I see why you lied now," Hayden laughed. "Yeah, right," I faked a laugh.

Hayden left to get something from his room, I think. "Why did he laugh when I said I was dating Zane?" I whispered to Dane. "Because Zane is a heartless monster that's serious all the freaking time. I've never even seen him smile. He's just creepy like that." "That explains, but what about Xavier? He didn't believe that lie," I pointed out. "Xavier's taken." "Oh," I said, realizing I probably should've seen that coming. "It's like they've isolated you from everything," Dane slightly shook his head. They've sure kept even the smallest details from me, that's certain.

"Wait, Xavier may be in a relationship, but how did Hayden know that wasn't with me?" I asked. "I'm assuming you're not a male." I've never seen Xavier with a guy before? Only... Alex? Unless he's dating his cat, but that would be hella weird.

"I couldn't find the key, are you sure you got it?" Hayden asked as h entered. "I had it in my hands, ask V-" Dane started. "Ask who?" Hayden raised his eyebrows, waiting for him to continue. "Ask various people in here, they saw it," Dane answered, changing his sentence. My heart skipped a beat when he almost said my name. Thankfully, he didn't. "Maybe Xavier took it somehow," Hayden almost growled. "How would he do that? Did he escape?" I asked a bit too quick. "Why do you care about him? Because he's Zane's brother? They're both evil," Hayden scoffed softly. "I was just curious," I mumbled.
