Jace moved uncomfortably close to my neck, and I had no clue what he wanted from me. He didn't do anything else other than to stand close to me. I couldn't see him from the angle we were standing in, so he could do things without me noticing, but from what I understood he was standing still. "Jace," Alex warned. Jace backed away and put his hands in the air, proving Alex of his innocence or whatever. "Don't do anything stupid," Alex warned him once again. Jace nodded, still with his hands in the air. "Mind telling me who the hell this Jace is?" I asked. "A friend," Jace answered. "I didn't ask you," I glared at him. "He's a friend, kind of," Alex told me. "Kind of?" I repeated dubiously. "Go on, Alex, tell her it's complicated. It's what you always say, right?" Jace interrupted our conversation. What Jace said got Alex looking quite pissed off. "You can trust a friend, right?" Alex asked both of us. I nodded, Jace did not. "Right, Jace. I don't trust you enough," Alex continued. Ouch?

We sat in the living room, Jace and Alex were reading something while I was doing absolutely nothing. I was utterly bored, to be honest. I was just sitting there, living a fantasy daydream inside of my head. "Did you sleep well, Valerie?" Alex suddenly asked. "Huh?" I cleared my throat, my head leaning against my hand. "He asked if you slept well, you know, he's trying to be a sweet and good boyfriend, but really he's-" Jace started. "Really he's what?" Alex cut him off and cast a glance at him. "Never mind," Jace said as he looked down at the book again. "I did. Did you?" I asked him back. He bent the side of the book as he stared at me with an empty look. "Alex?" I cleared my throat. "Yeah, no, I uh-" he started. "He slept peacefully beside me, don't worry, Valerie," Jace faked a smile. "I did not," Alex clarified.

I went back out to the hallway to have a second look at the strange stains. They definitely looked like blood stains, but where could they possibly be coming from? "Could you please stop searching this small old house like a freaking detective? Get another hobby, Nancy," Jace sighed in frustration. "Fine!" I answered. Who does he think he is anyway? My boss? I think not. He can't possibly dislike me already. How's that even possible? Well, then again I can't say I like him.

I decided to change my shirt since I had slept in my current one. What I faced when I took it off, however, shocked me and stripped my mind of thoughts. I brought my arm closer to my face to make sure that what I saw was real and not an illusion. There were three fresh wounds on my arm, and they for sure weren't there yesterday. I sat down on my knees and carefully moved my finger over one of them, feeling the stinging feeling spreading. I cursed under my breath as I removed my finger from my arm. The skin had gone red around the wounds, and it truly didn't look any good. I moved my head upwards, towards the mirror on the wall...That was when I saw the reflection of Alex staring right back at me.
