Since I was so confused about literally everything, I decided to text Dane in hopes to meet him to talk as soon as possible. He replied rather quickly and said to meet me at the same place as yesterday, which I agreed to.

I'm not sure what happened back at Alex's place, honestly. One moment I was panicking and trying to get away, the next I was all calm and back to listening. I'm not saying I trust Alex again, I'm just open-minded and willing to listen to what he's got to say, even if it means I have to stay at his place for a little longer.

At the same table as last time, Dane sat alone, waiting for me to come. When he spotted me, he smiled widely. "I thought for a while that you had ditched me," he said, letting out a sigh of relief. "Oh, no, no, I wouldn't have done that," I assured him. "That's good to hear," he said, smiling once again.

After some small talk, I had to get to the point of our meeting - the key. "I'm not implying in any way or accusing you of anything, but I have a question-" I started. He nodded twice, signalizing for me to continue. "Okay, so I had this key before I met you and when I got home, it was gone. You haven't seen it by any chance, have you? Maybe you took the wrong key or something?" I asked. "Wrong key from your pocket? I'm pretty sure you would've noticed that," he answered. "How did you know it was in my pocket?" I frowned. "I mean, where else would you have it?" he chuckled, shrugging his shoulders. "Right, well, you see, my boyfriend kinda needs that key. It was very important to him, so if you happen to find it, would you please return it to me?" I asked politely. He slightly narrowed his eyebrows at me as he brought his lips together. "It was your boyfriend's key?" he asked. "Yeah, it's an old key from this book that he has. I don't know much, but he got quite upset when I told him I had lost it."

Dane straightened his back and his eyes dilated a bit, he had spent some time thinking about what I had told him. "My intention isn't to invade your private life or anything, but I'm just a bit curious; what's your boyfriend like?" he asked, letting go of the tension that roamed over him. "Well, lately, he has been keeping secrets from me, and he's acting weird. He was speaking about cold skin, blood, and violence this morning. It kinda freaked me out, especially after our crazy night together," I exhaled. I could see that he had spotted the mark on my neck, he suddnely stared intensely at it. "And you just let him treat you like that? My apologies, but he doesn't really sound like a good boyfriend to me." "I have to give him a chance at least," I answered. "A chance? How many have you given him in the past exactly?" he asked, raising his eyebrows. "Probably way too many, but this is different, it's more serious." "I get it," he nodded, his smile returning. "I really shouldn't trust someone I've just met once like this, but I'm desperate." "It's okay, you can trust me," he reassured me. I sure hope so.
