Jace left me with the guy I had met recently, Xavier. I didn't get to know more about what had happened with Alex nor did I get to speak with him, which was very questionable and not something I appreciated, of course. However, I had acted recklessly towards Alex, so being patient is probably what I should do.

"So, where are you from?" Xavier asked. "Not far from here," I answered. "Oh," he slightly nodded. His fingers were patting the commode behind him, and I couldn't stop focusing on it. Those fingers of his felt so cold earlier, a coldness I hadn't felt before from a person. I wanted him to touch me again so that I could know whether I'd mistaken earlier or not, but I didn't see any opportunities, except one. "Could you help me with my necklace?" I asked hesitatingly. He looked a bit confused at my sudden wish, but he nodded: "Sure." He walked behind me and moved my hair over my shoulders. I took a deep breath right before I felt his icy cold fingers against my skin once again. Again, shivers ran down my spine, making it difficult not to shrug since he was touching the back of my neck. "Do you want it looser or tighter?" he asked. "Actually, I've changed my mind. It's fine the way it is." "If you say so," he answered, then the coldness disappeared. "Thank you," I slightly smiled. "No worries," he shrugged his shoulders. I could see he was quite confused, but I had to know I was right. It felt kind of comforting to know that I wasn't having illusions or going crazy.

Xavier had a bed, luckily, so I was able to relax for some hours alone. Well, relax to a certain degree, that is. "If she stays, she might end up killed," Xavier said. His voice was slightly muted by the door, but I could still hear his sentence perfectly fine. I automatically sat up, realizing they were most likely speaking of me. "If she leaves, she'll be taken, and we would end up in quite the situation. Her life is important, you know that. If the wrong people get their hands on her, he will die," Jace said. What? Who would die? "It's not fair to her that she doesn't get to know what's going on. We don't have the rights to make decisions for her," Xavier argued. "She's human, she would panic if she knew. Just keep it down for now," Jace said. Of course, I'm human? They're speaking as if I'm another species from them, which I'm not, obviously.

My eyes slowly opened after hours of sleep. As my sight cleared, I saw Alex standing right by my side, and it caused me to jump. "What are you doing here?" I frowned. "Do you hate me?" he asked, ignoring my question as per usual. "I won't jump to conclusions, but after what I've seen-" I started. "I didn't kill anyone," he cut me off. "But what did you do?" I looked up at him. "I tried something new, and it got a bit out of hand." "Alex, you won't tell me anything anymore," I let out a sigh. "I will, but slowly. And you've got to remember something, Valerie. Stories can be told through more than just words." "You're going to tell me what's going on with you?" I frowned. "Not necessarily just what's up with me. You're a huge part of it all now, and you have no idea why or how, which is why it will take time, and you'll have to be patient."
