Sassafras

Sassafras is a genus of three extant and one extinct species of deciduous trees in the family Lauraceae, native to eastern North America and eastern Asia. The genus is distinguished by its aromatic properties, which have made the tree useful to humans. Its bark is used as the main ingredient in sarsaparilla, also known as root beer.

Sassafras is popular in China, Taiwan, and the United States. This wand wood will shake with excitement and zoom towards a prospective owner the second they step into the wand shop. Likewise, the owner is an energetic and friendly person. They often have a high metabolism and may snack frequently. They love to exercise and dance is one of their favorite physical activities. Jogging on hiking are other activities they love. Exploration excites them, and they are natural navigators. Able to focus on several tasks at once, sassafras owners are among the best multi-taskers. Their brains are incredibly organized and they have excellent memories (sometimes eidetic). For whatever reason, it seems that sassafras bestows their owners good luck with money and financials. It is more than common for these witches and witches to find money on the ground, win money off bets, and be raffle winners. On rainy or cloudy days, they can be more depressed or have low energy. The seasonal affective disorder is common. Feeling excluded or underappreciated can also depress the owner, making them deflated and lacking in enthusiasm even for their passions. This wand wood's talent lies in healing, especially in detoxifying or building up immunity or stopping the spread of disease. Magic to do with slowing or speeding down processes is another talent.

Sassafras wands tend to perform best in the following subjects: potions, herbology, transfiguration, flying, history of magic, and arithmancy. What is more important is their interest in the subject and how they are feeling on a particular day. There usually isn't any particular talent in divination. It is strongest in the spring, and it can be strengthened for the full year by placing the wood in a bowl of red clover, nettle, and dandelion tea during the entire spring equinox. This wand wood emits a scent reminiscent of fruit loops. Despite the sweetness, this scent is a natural deterrent to numerous pests.
