Quercus alba, the white oak, is one of the preeminent hardwoods of eastern and central North America. It is a long-lived oak, native to eastern and central North America, and found from Minnesota, Ontario, Quebec, and southern Maine south as far as northern Florida and eastern Texas. Specimens have been documented to be over 450 years old.

White oak is one of the more powerful species of oak, and its owners usually have stronger magical cores than red oak or English oak wand owners. Like other oak owners, these witches and wizards are strong-willed, intuitive, and connected to nature. What sets them apart is their greater analytical abilities and more icy temper.

When they are angry with someone, they are more likely to ignore them than confront them. Their anger is patient and they do believe that revenge is a dish best served cold. They take events and issues seriously and do not appreciate it when others dismiss them as silly or unimportant. They don't care for people that seem flippant or lazy and may disregard them or their opinions too quickly. With their calm, confident and bright presence, many people may come to the white oak owner for advice or help with homework. People know to expect the truth from the owner, and sympathy as well. Issues of fairness or justice may preoccupy their thoughts. They love the underdog and are not afraid to fight for what they believe in. In this regard, this is a more active wand and owner than English oak, which makes it more similar to red oak. Though people may not expect it from them, these people can be really brave when a situation arises. They are loyal to their friends and have high expectations for them. They want to see their friends be successful and are willing to tell them difficult truths to help them reach their aspirations. With their friends, their witty sense of humor comes out.

With their resilience and stamina, these people like to work for long periods without breaks. They believe in work before play. Having to call in sick from school or work makes them feel irrationally guilty. Their connection to nature is to earth and weather, less to creatures and plants (though this connection is still significant in their lives).

This wood has a talent with magic to do with stability, achievement, containment, and memories. Depending on the wand wood and owner's inclination, there may be talent with geological or meteorological magics. It is a powerful wood and capable of many feats if the owner takes time to practice and repeat. The more a certain type of magic is executed with this wood, the better the wand becomes at performing that specific type of magic. On the flip side, this makes it specialize only in that magic–so the owner must choose wisely what magic they want this wand to exclusively perform.

This wand is at its most powerful during midsummer. Soak in bourbon overnight if it seems more unpredictable than usual. If that doesn't work, take it for a walk in the rain. When performing powerful magic, this wand gives off the scent of ozone. Like red oak, it may emit low levels of static electricity, and crackle audibly when angry. It may shake before an earthquake or have other signals for different geological or meteorological events.
