犬飼 彩葉
student no. 29
season 2 episode 21
The last few weeks were great, (no joke).
In fact it was so fun and enjoyable to the point that we didn't see it coming. I think that was what probably got us.
We thought it'd end with a simple assassination, that it would end uneventful. Heck, if possible, that Korosensensei would stay alive after graduation.
But that was exactly the problem.
We were naive.
It was as if we were all drowned in ecstasy to the point wherein it felt like we'd been run over a truck, and slapped back into reality. It took one look to realize and to fill us up with dread in our guts.
When our last day ended with a Final Career Consultation, we knew that we'd still come back to continue the assassination 'till graduation. It was supposed to be plain, old and uneventful.
But seeing that changed everything in a blink of a second.
I was playing video games at Karma's until night fall. The plan was to win a couple of rounds and then go straight home.
That was supposed to happen, but it never followed through.
When the crimson beam of light struck the grounds of the mountains, the next thing we knew, another batch lasers formed a shield of light that enveloped the campus.
"What's that?" I looked out the window, as soon as I caught sight of it in the corner of my eye, wondering what could have possibly happened, when the redhead stood beside me, surprised himself.
It all dawned upon us unexpectedly, like a punch in the gut.
"Iroha, check out the news" he motioned towards the television, when we received a single message from Karasuma-sensei.

As if we'd actually obey that after the little scheme they pulled off.
To put it simply, their plan was foolproof. The news, the announcements, everything was clearly against Korosensei. Getting the support from the media and then finishing it off with their high-tech weapons.
Armored vehicles served as blockades on all main roads leading up to the mountain. The buildings that emitted the lasers for the shield were all fortified overnight. No entry within a hundred meters were allowed.
After seeing all these, I was almost sure that I was about to loose it when we met up with the class near the grounds.
"Whaddya mean, no trespassing?!" Terasaka was clearly aggravated when he was stopped by one of the soldiers. Him being the first person we noticed thanks to his little outburst.
"Look! Just back off!" the guard tried to push him away with their shield.
Bastards.
First they ask us to do the assassination as if we weren't junior high kids. And now they tell us to back off without a single explanation.
Involving us into their mishaps and suddenly deciding that it wasn't any of our business. Just how twisted were they, really?
"Look at this". Adding fuel to the fire, the news crew flashed at us, interviewing us as if we owned some kind of monument. "Could these be the students that had been threatened by that monstrous teacher?".
"You're those junior-high hostages, right?"
"Excuse me! How do you feel right now?"
"You must be relieved to hear he's been captured!"
So the octopus really was captured, I figured throughout the chaos.
"What was it like spending a while year ruled by a teacher who could explode at any second?"
"What's this about him forcing you to perform sham assassinations?"
"Shut up! It's none if your business!" Muramatsu shouted at those who have been beating us with questions.
"We have it on good authority that there's less than a 1% chance of the earth being destroyed!" Yada attempted to explain to them. "He's not dangerous— put that on TV!"
"He's not the evil teacher they're saying he is!" Kurahashi was on the verge of crying.
"Here, get this girl" a reporter directed to the camera man.
"Did that monster tell you to say that? How awful it must have been. You can tell us the truth" another news reporter told her before turning to the camera again, "These are the innocent children that monster used as hostages!"
"The children will surely be seriously traumatized. One would hope they'll be treated as soon as possible"
They were pitying us.
It was probably the frustration and rage that got to me, because after hearing all that it didn't take too long for me to snap.
That was it. I declared the last straw.
If words can't reach them, maybe they need a good beating.
"Don't you dare twist our words!" I spat, ready to raise a fist. "What the fuck do you outsiders know?—"
Karma held my fist straight up restraining me. "You're wasting energy if you think anything would convince them" he warned me, stopping me from what I was just about to do.
"Ha?" I even ended up arguing with him for a short moment, "Trauma? Hostage? I just want to give the a good one after all the bullshit they're spouting—"
"Cool your head" he told me in a hushed tone, talking as if it was such a simple task. "I told you. It's better to save that energy for later. Do you honestly think they'd listen to a bunch of middle schoolers who they think have gone insane?".
I lowered my fist in defeat, doing as he said until Karasuma-sensei entered the scene.
"You have no permission to film here. Leave at once!" the official demanded to the media.
"B-But what about our duty to report the truth?—"
It's been more than an hour, and they've spouting everything but the truth, I mentally hissed earning a sigh from the redhead.
"Terrifying junior-high students for sheer entertainment value? Some duty!" The man countered. "By the authority of the Defense Agency this area is off-limits. In the interest if public safety, I'll ask you to leave. I'll take these students into protective custody".
