Anyways, there isn't a real storyline behind this. Just two princesses vibing together on the beach, gay style.
Edie is def a little ooc in this but it's also because I kind of based her on Ariel sooo (and yes, that means that (Y/N) is based on Prince Eric, your welcome).
I LOVED writing thissss. It's so cute and wholesome and a tad bit long but Idc I LOVE MERMAID EDIEEEE

"You cannot be serious, milady."
"I'm very much serious, Hubert. I truly think I've fallen in love," the princess said, as she gazed up at the surface of the water.
Ever since that dated day when she saved that human and rushed her to the shore, Edelgard had not been able to think of anything, of anyone else.
Her mind kept on coming back to her wonderful face, peacefully sleeping on the shore, and her beautiful...
"With a human! This is below you, milady. Rethink this," he approached her, "You must promise to never swim up there ever again. What if something were to happen to you? Someone could've seen you, and killed you."
"Nonsense. We both know that would've never happened," she rolled her eyes, "I know how to take care of myself, Hubert."
"I am not saying that," he sighed, "But there are some things that one cannot control, and you have led a very risky adventure that could've lead to death, whether you wanted to or not."
"It wasn't risky at all."
"Right," he snickered, in disbelief, "It was just the explosion of a ship. Nothing more."
Edelgard rolled her eyes.
"And of course, you were saving a human, someone apart of the very species that hunts us, and that could've killed you."
"They didn't- Well, she seemed to be the very opposite of what I imagined a human would be like. She didn't seem like the kind to hunt others."
"Really now? How could you be so sure? And since when are you so optimistic? Have you forgotten that you should be weary of others and their intentions?" He kept on pressing, as he slowly raised his voice at her.
The princess frowned at him, "I am very weary, but that doesn't mean kind humans don't exist. I knew she was kind when I first laid eyes on her."
Hubert remained quiet.
"Is that so odd, Hubert?"
"Yes," he coldly said, "I have never met a human that was kind," he then lifted the strands of hair covering his eye, letting Edelgard see a horrific scar (NOT ME INVENTING LORE FOR MERMAN HUBIE LMAO), "And I have proof of it."
Edelgard looked at him with a form of pity, "I hope that someday you will meet her and change your mind."

"You cannot be serious, (Y/N). A mermaid? You actually saw a mermaid?"
"I swear!" She turned around to face her friend, and sighed, "You don't believe me, don't you?"
"I mean..." The friend laughed, "Mermaids haven't been seen around here in years! Why come now?"
"I don't know why but I know what I saw. It was a mermaid, alright," she murmured, trying to remember the incident.
She had been dragged to the shore by a mysterious girl. (Y/N) could feel her embrace as the mysterious girl remained hovered over her. She sang a mesmerizing song. When (Y/N) opened her eyes, the only thing she saw was a girl with a fish tail plunging back in the sea...
The friend remained quiet, as they looked at (Y/N) incredulously.
"I can't believe it! You really don't believe me! You think I went mad, or something!"
"Maybe you should head to bed, sweetie, and try to sleep a little. You went through so much, and who knows what sort of damage this whole incident did to you... Really, you need to rest."
(Y/N) let out a hearty sigh before rolling her eyes, "If only you could meet her. Then you would believe me!"

The sunset had ended a while ago. The sky was of a lovely dark blue shade, sprinkled with stars. A light breeze ran across the beach below the castle. In her nightgown, (Y/N) decided it was the perfect weather to head down to the beach and walk a bit by the shore.
They think me mad. They all do, but I swear I saw a mermaid on the shore. She saved me. Without her, I wouldn't even be able to think those words.
Princess (Y/N) walked along the shoreline quietly, as she longly gazed at the sea.
Maybe she's there. Somewhere. Out there.
With a sigh, she sat down on the dock, brought her knees to her chest, and continued to look at the horizon.
I can't get her out my head!
(Y/N) then heard noise beneath her, beneath the wooden dock, and she was sure it was different from the noise of the waves crashing against the sand.
She hurried to the border of the dock and looked down at the water.
"You! You're the one who saved me!" (Y/N) gasped, and leaned further to take a better look.
It really was Princess Edelgard.
She then noticed her fish-like tail.
"— And you really are a mermaid!"
"It really is you!" Edelgard murmured, relieved to see the girl she had saved alive and well.
"I never thought I would see you again!"
"I had to sneak past my guards to come up here," Edelgard softly smiled and her eyes lit up, "I knew that I would see you again, that we would meet just like this, that you would come back to the sea and try to find me."
"Past your guard? So you are...?"
"I am Edelgard, princess of the many mermaids that inhabit this sea," she said in her most formal and serious tone. It was funny. This mermaid was the perfect balance of naïveté, wonder and formality, gravity.
"And you are?" she asked, resting her hands on the border of the dock, "It would certainly be nice to know who I saved,"
"(Y/N), the princess of the Kingdom which borders your sea," she pointed at the castle far away, "And that is my home."
"I see," Edelgard murmured, gazing at the imposing castle dominating the shore, "Very lovely."
Both the girls remained awfully quiet, gazing at each other with a mixture of love and curiosity.
Finally, Edelgard rested her elbows on the dock, and tried to lean closer to (Y/N), whereas she sat down closer to the border to the dock, dipping her feet in the water below.
"You are very lovely as well," the princess murmured, looking up at (Y/N) with an earnest expression.
The land princess blushed furiously. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
"Thank you- And thank you. Again. For saving me. I wouldn't have lived without you."
"Don't thank me. I couldn't leave you there to die. I had to save you."
Edelgard's eyes began to wander back at the castle, before looking down at (Y/N)'s light nightgown that gently swayed in the wind.
"Are those your night clothes?"
The princess looked down at her nightgown. She then blushed. This was the first time she ever talked to a literal stranger in her nightgown.
"Hum... Y-Yes."
"Are you shy? There's no need to. Your night clothes are pretty."
Edelgard grazed the material.
"It's so soft."
"Y-You like it? I could bring you something like this someday if you'd like one. I'm sure I must have a spare somewhere..."
"You could? That would be an honor. I sometimes see your kind walking on the beach, in long dresses with layers... They look so beautiful. I've always wanted one like that."
(Y/N) chuckled, "You like that too? I-I could bring you a dress like that too!"
"Really?"
"I'm sure you'd look wonderful in a dress like that too! Or in any dress!" She was becoming excited now, "I should just bring you my whole wardrobe! That would be easier."
Edelgard laughed.
"You are very silly, (Y/N). But it's wonderful. You are so full of life."
"Oh," she blushed, "Well, I'm glad you like that at least."
"Are all people of your world so lively?"
She shrugged, "Well, everyone is different. Some are more shy, some more... Well, different personalities for different people! Just like in your world, I would assume."
But then, (Y/N) started to wonder.
"I wonder how it's like in your world. It must be so amazing, living under the sea. So many sea creatures, so many extraordinary things..."
"I wonder how it's like in your world too. It must be beautiful, so full of life..."
Both girls remained quiet, staring at each other.
"What do you mermaids eat down there?"
"There are many kinds of foods down there. Oh, would you like to try some? I could perhaps devise a plan... and bring you some up here."
The princess smiled, "That would actually be so cool."
A voice could be heard from afar, which interrupted the two princess' conversation.
(Y/N) turned her head and groaned when she noticed her friend and servant looking for her on the seashore.
She then turned back to Edelgard, "I should probably go. Tomorrow- How about we see each other again tomorrow? Same time?"
"And I'll bring you the food."
"And I'll bring you the dresses."
Both girls smiled softly at each other.
"One step closer to being part of your world."
