1. Mexico was the only nation to condemn Germany for the annexation of Austria. In return, Austria has a "Mexico street" in Vienna, the capital. Pretty much a thank you for being there sorta thing. They also protested Japan invading Manchuria and Italy invading Ethiopia. They also condemned Italy and German involvement in the Spanish Civil War (Along with the USSR).

3. Before submarine warfare, it was illegal to sink a ship without saving the crew on board. So you needed a plan if you really wanted to sink a ship of someone.
4. Licon got a beard because some child (Grace Bedell) said he would look better with one. And though more women's husbands would vote for him if the ladies could convince them to do so. He later visited her town and said hi to her after winning the election.
5. The border between Pakistan and India is one of the most disputed. And once a famous singer from India arrived to sing for the Indian soldiers but the Pakistani men shot their guns in the sky and shouted for them to turn up the volume so they could hear too. The Indians compiled and now the soldiers in Pakistan do the same for them whenever a famous singer from their country visits.

7. Choctaw nation, still suffering from being moved to Oklahoma, managed to raise about 200 bucks (6.5k-ish in modern day money I believe.) for Ireland to aid with the potato famine. I believe it is also told in Irish schools but I'm not 100% sure. Now the Irish have raised millions to help their tribe and others with the recent pandemic. And there is a monument in Cork called the Kindred Spirt built to honor the tribes. :)
8. There have been a couple of supreme court cases about the color of margarine throughout the 1800s and 1900s.
9. The Swiss accidentally invaded Liechtenstein. There was an army exercise and it resulted in a couple of soldiers getting lost and ending up there. This has happened twice. There was also a time a missile accidentally landed in Liechtenstein and set an entire forest on fire.

13. During D-Day a Scottsman named Bill Millin was playing the bagpipes as bombs and guns fired all around him. The Germans assumed he was insane and never hurt him.
14. Germany has "Frog Fences" to keep them from getting run over by cars. At the end of the day, someone scoops them up and helps them cross the road safely. I have heard they are in other places too but again I dunno.
15. In the 1800s the Supreme Court said Tomatoes are Veggies because you can't make a dessert out of it. It's California's fault this exists. They had tariffs on Fruits and they were mostly used for desserts at the time anyway. People got angry and protested the fact that Tomatoes were included into that list. Then boom. Court.
16. Napolean was 5'7 and the rumor of him being short was just propaganda produced by the other side. One of the leading generals who produced this was a 4'11 man.
17. Not exactly wholesome. But I dunno if this was said before but the 100 years war was 116 years long. And it had about 3 different parts to it.
18. During the 100 years war btw Paris had time to record that one year there was some really heavy snow and the people made impressive snowmen. The writer who published went unnamed but he never failed to tell us how the wine tasted that year. He also complained about times when he couldn't get any fresh cherries or "soft cheese from Brie."
19. After WW2 the US doubted their own field reports and just used the Germans. They are still used to this day.
20. For 30 years Canada and Denmark have been fighting a war over an Island up north. They both leave a different homemade whiskey bottle and troll letter for the other to find and replace.

26. During WW2, a German fighter pilot saw an injured American one. And instead of shooting it down, he helped him get to safety. After the war, they met up and became friends.
27. During the Revolutionary War when loyalists were being shipped away with the British soldiers. One left his dog in all the mess. Washington made a personal order to have a peace messenger return the dog to their rightful owner once he found out.
28. In Mr. Rogers's actual neighborhood a huge fight broke out over Black people using public pools. So he made an episode where he sat in a kiddy pool with a black guest and had a talk about how uncool racism is.
29. In 1939, during the Production of Gone With the Wind, Lenny Bluette (A black man) showed Gabele the Toilets that were segregated. Clark Gable proceeded to call the director and demand the removal of the signs segregating folks or he would not be in the movie as the famous Rhett Butler. The filming was put off two years already to get Gabele so he complied. Bluette being allowed in his dressing room in itself was already a big thing. Since Bluette wasn't actually going to get credited for being so low down the movie-making pole. He also had a very close friend of his named Hattie McDaniel who couldn't go to the premiere of Gone With the Wind because of Atlanta being racially segregated. Gable almost didn't go to see the film because she couldn't, but Hattie convinced him otherwise.
30. After the break up of Yogoslavia, the Balkins states fought often in wars. Sometimes they would stop because both sides loved Mexican Soap operas. Goes to show Mexico stops wars by not even being in them. Same happened in the Civil Wars of South America. And even Moscow.
31. Mexico was also the first western nation to see Japan as an equal and treat them as such in a treaty (1888).
