TW: Height Insecurities - Mention of bone extensions
(No idea if I had to put either of those but just in case-)

Rhode didn't... Despise being short.

He hated others' lack of compassion for it.

The state was always the butt of the joke whenever size was brought up in a conversation. He was getting sick of it. They knew damn well he was insecure about his height yet still referred to him as a child sometimes.

Being small had its pros, but to him it only had cons. Yet he didn't really hate it. It kept him semi-known.

When taller states like Texas or Montana needed help with getting things out of tight places, he was their go-to guy. He could fit almost everywhere and it made ample room for mur... Uh... Nevermind. The feds might see this. 🤫

Rhode Island could play in playgrounds without much fuss if he shaved. He was always told he had a baby face without the beard. And the swings were always nice on a warm sunny day! Leave him alone!

Additionally, if he and NJ were at places that gave free meals to kids being small helped. He gets mistaken for a child by strangers often, so they can easily lie about his age to get free food. And it was a delight to save money!

But.

He couldn't go into bars or clubs alone as much anymore, many people assume his ID is a fake and toss him out. So he has to bring someone so they can explain he is in fact old enough to be there! It's become really aggravating. Especially when the person you are with immediately starts teasing you afterward about it (if they manage to convince the bouncer).

Like height insecurities weren't a thing!

Or when Florida gave him that booster seat when he joined the table. He refused to admit it helped him, but it hurt seeing the other two didn't need a seat at all. He was so short he couldn't see over a simple table? Really?

It's pathetic, isn't it?

The worst part of it all is when a bigger state moved anything belonging to him onto a higher shelf. It happened so many times since he's moved from the first statehouse up in DC to this one in Cali. He swore it was at least six or seven times every two days his stuff was moved.

He nearly got a concussion trying to retrieve his hat from the kitchen fridge last week. He hadn't seen Gov so mad in a while, to be honest. He yelled at Texas for hours about how dangerous it was and if something happened to Rhode he'd never live it down. He seemed to care enough to not bring up his height at all. So that was nice.

The event seemed to quiet the so-called jokes for a while until the next month. Then they sparked up again with New York, the ass that he is, giving him baby clothes as a present. He should have known better than to think NY was capable of being nice to anyone.

He can't stand this... Endless teasing!

It's not funny!

It really, really, fucking hurts him.

But they don't care.

The other day he looked up some prices for bone extensions. 85,000 dollars. A payment to make the teasing go away forever. Sure the procedure seemed a little... Scary. But if it made them stop. He imagines getting those 85,000-dollar leg extensions often. And how better or worse life could be for him with the added height.

He was also worried about what the others may think or say. They might think he looks weird and pick on him more or they might leave him alone finally.

He wasn't sure what he wanted to do about his height.

But he was sure he wanted to feel comfortable in his own body for once.
