There has been a new vigilante roaming the dark streets of the Big Apple. It did not go unnoticed by the Avengers. Whoever it was, did not hesitate with the violence. The crime scene was often left with blood splattered everywhere, the victims left were mutilated. It made the New York Police Department and detectives sick to their stomachs at the sight of the bodies. The bodies were usually left decapitated, their limbs sliced clean off their bodies. Blood and internal organs were spewed all over the ground.

This wasn't the work of any ordinary man. There was a very insane, sick serial killer lurking around the dark. Detectives have seen a pattern, this killer goes after crooks, thieves, criminals. But, they have also noticed that once they get a trial, the killer will murder a police officer. The attempts they have made to catch this what they call, "Unknown Vigilante", have been shallow and full of fear as they fear losing one of their own.

The Vigilante knew the patterns of the police, they were able to find out their plans, listen to their scans, find out very intimate details about the officers. The police then handed the case over to the FBI, they gave it their best shot at the case. They tried to do undercover missions and find them that way. They tried to catch him in the act of his murders. But, the vigilante was three steps ahead of them.

The FBI then handed the case over to the Avengers. Whoever this Vigilante was, they were very good at covering their tracks. They obviously had experience in combat, possibly from the military. They had spy and espionage training since they were so good at disappearing in plain sight. Maybe they worked for the CIA, FBI, or a foreign intelligence agency. Also, they were tech-savvy since the moment they got a piece of intel on the person, it was deleted from their services in less than an hour.

The Avengers tried to handle this mission with caution. This person was smart, brutal, malicious, and evil, but smart. They treated this like they were trying to locate an off-the-grid HYDRA officer. Natasha suggested to go out disgusted as civilians and see if they could gather intelligence. This caused an argument.

"We don't even know where Hannibal Lecturn is, " Tony says and Natasha shrugs, "That's why we could go out. Maybe I could get a few glimpses over the crime scene, or Sam could send out Redwing and get images, " Natasha says, "Unless you have a better idea, "

Tony huffs and rubs his face, "What did the FBI and NYPD give us?" he asks and Steve slides a manila folder across the conference room table to Tony. "Almost nothing, no name, no location, no face, all we know, is that he goes after criminals, cops that find out information about him, and he is very brutal, " he says and Tony grimaces at the photos of the crime scene.

It was over a New York apartment bedroom. In Brooklyn and in a poorer part of the city. The bedroom was small, a twin-sized bed in the corner of the room, and a dresser. The sheets were dyed in red, the body was mutilated. The white walls which had the paint peeling were dirty with splatters of blood. The victim's arms and legs were on the floor shaped into the number "25". Tony closed the folder before Peter was able to peer over his shoulder and see.

"The number on the floor, I think that's his kill streak, " Tony says and huffs, "Did he leave any trail?". Steve shook his head, "We know it's not HYDRA, " he says and Sam says, "But, it's also not one individual. I mean, twenty-five kills in less than six months. This dude is giving Barnes a run for his money, "
