•Sixty-two•

"Shawn, your mum and I are popping the supermarket, do you need anything?" I heard my dad say.

I just shook my head no. I had barely spoken a word to him since Elle broke up with me. I didn't even want to look at him. Everytime I did I would just get so angry.

"You can't ignore me forever Shawn" dad sighed as I turned around to put two slices of bread in the toaster.

"I can" I mumbled before going back to the saucepan and mixing up the eggs.

Dad just huffed before finally leaving me to it. A couple minutes later I then looked up to see my mum coming into the kitchen.

"You sure you don't want anything?" She asked, coming round to me.

"No thanks mum" I replied as she grabbed a hold of the side of my face.

Scrunching my face up she gave me a kiss on the cheek. As she let go of me I gave her a smile, her probably being the only person I can really trust and rely on right now.

"I'm gonna buy the stuff for the cake today, you got any preferences?" She asked.

"I don't care, whatever Elle wants" I replied, making sure to keep checking that my food wasn't burning.

"I'll ring her" mum said.

Mum then said goodbye before the two of them left, finally leaving me alone in peace and quiet. 

About thirty minutes later I had now finished my breakfast and was boredly sitting on the sofa watching some random documentary on the tv. If I could I would go for a run but it was chucking it down outside.

In the midst of my boredom I then heard my phone start ringing from back in the kitchen where I had left it. Getting up from the sofa I walked into the kitchen before grabbing my phone off the counter.

Looking down at the screen, much to my surprise, it was Elle calling. Immediately answering I pulled the phone up to my ear.

"Hello" I smiled into the phone, trying to keep my cool as if I didn't have butterflies floating in my stomach.

"Hey Shawn" She returned.

"What can I do for you Miss Jackson?" I asked, biting down on my bottom lip  as I hoisted myself up onto the counter.

"Well, I've got a scan this afternoon and wondered if you wanted to come?" Elle asked as I only smiled even more.

"I'd love to come" I grinned, probably looking like some clown freak if someone were to see me right now.

"Okay, great, I'll come get you at two" Elle replied.

"No, I'll get you" I intervened causing her to softly laugh.

"Okay then, you'll come get me at two" she rephrased as returned a short chuckle.

"See you then" I smiled.

"Bye Shawn" she replied.

"Goodbye Eloise" I teased.

She let out a light laugh before eventually ending the call, leaving me sitting there like a 14-year-old boy who had just spoken to a girl for the first time.

When I was in hospital Elle told me that she was devoted to us and said that she would never give up on us.

Now it was my turn to return the favour and carry on what she had set out to do.

Here's another chapter for you all! When I was writing this chapter I had a whole section written out where Shawn meets a new possible love interest, but then I scrappedit because I can't see him with anyone else but Elle!
