Vanessa stood beside Attarah, crouched as she did up the girls shoelace for her, the ginger girl stood and looked down at her pained best friend.
Attarah had been dressed in grey sports leggings, a dark pink Nike jumper and pink trainers. They were preparing to leave the castle.

Vanessa took her friends hand and the two walked out of the bedroom. Thoughts flickered through Attarahs head. Guilt ate her, she knew she had failed her father in the worst way possible and she couldn't ever forgive herself so she wondered how he ever could. How could anyone love someone who was so evil? She believed she was the worst person. She was a fake person.
She claimed to be so perfect, so innocent when she had defied the man who gave her life and taught her how to live it. He was the man that deserved to be treated like the king in her mind.
It did not register when the walked into the throne room, when the kings apologised and bade farewell. When they repeated their excuses. Of a Romanian vampire visit. It did not register that she had spoken. That she had said goodbye to them all. The feel of their lips on her own did not linger. And the cold of the air as they headed for the jet could not crack through the depression that hugged her, suffocated her. Only Charlie could be the one to do that.
