Late on that bright afternoon, the empress was in the library having tea when she heard six year old Ralvania running and yelling through the castle.

"Mother! Mother you're never going to believe it." She bellowed, excitement radiating from her.

Katella got up and ran to the main hall to find her little one jumping up and down like crazy.

"What is it, sweetie?"

"I found something, oh mommy can I keep him?' She pleaded.

"Hold on a minute." Katella began.

"I have to keep him, oh please." She begged with wide bright eyes.

"First of all what did you find?" She said.

"You'll never believe it." Ralvania said.

"Honey just tell me." She said in a soft tone.

"It's a baby... dragon!" She said, pulling her mother by the arm to the castle door.

Katella went with her and slowly opened the door and peered outside.

"Gods of fate you really did." She replied as there stood a possibly three year old black dragon.

"Nice to meet you." He said.

"He can talk already?" Katella remarked.

"Yes I can, I'm Soranto." He said with a dramatic bow.

"Can he stay?" Ralvania asked again.

"He may have a home, a family." The empress told her.

"I don't. Mother never came back." He explained.

"Oh no you poor thing. There's a cave behind the castle. We will help feed you too." Katella said then turned to her child.

"No more strays, got it?" She said in a firm tone.

"Yes momma." She said.
