The sounds of Katie's heartbeat on the pulse meter were steady. There the blue haired girl lay on the hospital bed peacefully.

JL sat next to her, bandages and stitches around his face to hide his wounds during his confrontation with the ex-agents.

He took her hand dearly, it has been 8 hours now since he save her from the river but there was still no reaction from her since. Only her breathing which planted hope in him that she was still alive.

The doctor than came into the room, a woman with brown hair in her 30s looking at the clipboard she brought with her.

"Good morning." She greeted JL upon entering the room. JL immediately stood up and began asking questions that were running around in his head for hours.

"How is she? Is she gonna be ok?"

The doctor shrugged having to answer a question so severe early in the morning. "She's fine..... Barely."

"Barely??"

"She's in a coma," The doctor replied looking into the files. "It must have been the lack of oxygen she had in her body while she was underwater for such a long time. By the time you rescued her it was stated that her lungs were filled with water."

JL widen his eyes, not knowing such horrible things could have happened to Katie.

"How long till she wakes up?"

"You want to take in the truth son?" She asked with caution as JL nodded slowly.

She sighted, letting out some stress first. "Well it's not sure when she'll wake up. Tomorrow, next week, next twenty years or maybe even never we don't know."

The sentence striked JL's heart like an arrow. He kept his face on the floor not saying anything.

"But we'll keep a close eye on her. She'll be in good hands." The doctor calmly told him. "I know it's hard to know that someone you loved or cared is in danger like this." She then walked to JL.

"But we'll do anything to try and help her wake up again. We promise."

JL nodded again in silence. Not knowing how to react anymore.

"Come here." The doctor then gave JL a hug. "It's ok."

A wave of emotions swept JL as he teared like crazy on the doctors shoulders upon her motherly embrace.

Day after day, New York City hospital had the same visitor. JL came in almost everyday and stayed in Katie's room for the whole day and sometimes spend the night there.

He never ate or drank much, because he didn't feel like to.

Because he was afraid that something might happen to her when he leave her sight.

The team came to visit him constantly everyday and tried to persude him to eat well but JL always ignored their advice. The only thing in his mind was Katie.

During night's, he would get nightmares of him blaming himself for not being fast enough getting to Katie or her not waking up again. Often waking up in a pool of cold sweat and teary eyes with Katie beside him still fast in her peaceful sleep which made him even more traumatized.

Since that night he was never the same again.

"Katie....." He said holding the blue haired girl's hand.
