Y/N's POV:

It's Australia day today and it is the first one that I am celebrating as I moved over to Australia a week after Australia day. I am excited to celebrate it as I have never celebrated this back home and I also want to know what people do when they celebrate this holiday.

I got into work at around 9.30 am and when I walked into the tower, I saw an Australian flag up, and when I put my bag under the desk, I saw everyone on the beach was wearing something that had the Australian flag on. I walk out of the tower and down to the south end of the beach as I was on duty there today. As I was walking down there, I saw a range of different outfits that people were wearing.

When I got down there, I saw Harries already down there with the buggy waiting for me. I put my stuff in the back of the buggy and the sat down. When I sat down, I saw lots of people messing around in the shallow water and I also saw a few rips out back so I kept my eye on them as people can get into lots of trouble if they end up in one.

I didn't get to sit down for 10 minutes as I saw someone end up in the rip and he was struggling. I don't know but I had good intuition as to when I got up, he didn't have his hand up, but he looked like he was struggling and when I got to the water his hand went up. I paddled over to him and got on the board and brought him back to shore. I walked back to the buggy and sat down.

We were lucky that no one decided to get in trouble and because we didn't have to rescue anyone we just sat in the buggy and talked.

It was around 11.30 when someone came up to us and said that someone is taking a picture of women that don't have their bikini tops on. I radio up to the tower and tell them what the girl has just told me, and they look at the security camera to see if they can see him. They told me that they couldn't find him so I look around the beach to see if I could see him myself. They also said that they had called the police and that they were on their way.

Around 5 minutes later, I found the guy while he was taking a picture of a woman, so I ran after him. The cops saw me running as they were close to me, so they followed me, and they realised who I was running after and they ran faster to catch the guy up. They caught him eventually and arrested him as he admitted to doing it. I then walked back to the buggy and sat down.

After I came back from my lunch break, I was still on the beach, but I was by the flags in the middle of the beach.

The rest of the day was funny as some people decided to get kangaroo floats and use them in the water. We had to save them as they went too far out but it was funny as they were trying to swim back in while holding onto the float.

I was really happy that I could experience my first Australia day and I would say that today has been really good and I have really enjoyed it.
