Patton rolled onto his side in the bed, murmuring quietly

"Morning sweetheart" Silence "Sweetheart?" He sat up "Kailey?"

"Mummy!" He ran down the corridor to Roman's room, pulling him close to his chest

"Hey, hey kiddo calm down. shhh. it's ok i've got you, i've got you Prince, it's ok" He passed him the red sash which always comforted him.

"Where's mummy?" Then he saw the note.

Dear Patton.

You used to want me, you used to tell me you wanted me, and you just don't have that passion anymore. You're always careful of Roman. You care more about our son than me, and i can't live like that. i need passion, so i'm leaving for my brother's house, his friend Dec never stopped adoring me. I'm sorry it came to this.

love, Kailey

"Daddy?" Patton just hugged his son closer and cried.

six years later....

Roman reached into the water to splash his face before heading into the wood edge to get the berries for desert. Something caught his eye so he gasped

"Dad! dad!" Patton ran over to see the form in the water. they lay limp in the shallow end, just breathing with cracked glasses on their face and chestnut hair falling over his face. A black  loose shirt over plain grey trousers was soaked through when Patton picked him up, carrying him back to the house after failing to wake him. Roman felt someone watching him and turned quickly as two dark eyes widened and pulled away to run from the tree they'd been watching him from. Patton called him over

"Roman I need the door open!" He ran to help as a nymph boy ran through the wood.

later....

He blinked his eyes open to see a man leaning over him. Panicking he shrank back, backing against the headboard.

"Hey, hey it's ok. I'm not going to hurt you. I'm not going to hurt you ok?"

"saran jaed?" Patton blinked

"What?" The lithe man backed away further

"saran ned mi jihn ke saran hael?"

"I don't understand." The man almost shouted

"Saran ned mi jihn!"  Patton soothed

"It's ok" He pointed at himself "Patton" The lithe man seemed to understand as he mimicked the action

"Logan"
