Samantha was awoken by a noise, making her heart skip a beat. Through the course of the years, she had trained herself to wake up at the sudden and low sounds for precaution. Her hand immediately went towards her wand and without a second thought, she turned and pointed towards the source.
In front of her stood a wolf patronus, illuminated by the late sights of the moon slipping through her curtains. She blinked, recognizing the animal. She lowered her wand and got out of bed, making her way to it.
❝Remus, what is it, what's going on?❞ she asked desperately, knowing that something bad must had happened.
❝I didn't took my potion, I'm in the forbidden forest, I just woke up, I don't know what to do❞ Remus' voice appeared through the patronus, making her eyes widen.
❝are you okay? are you hurt?❞ she questioned, making her way towards her closet to get dress and go with him.
❝I'm not hurt, but I don't know if I hurt someone, Sam what if I did—❞
❝Hey, it's okay, we'll figure it out, but right now, I need you to breath deeply❞ she spoke gently, not wanting him to have a panic attack. She had learned how to help with his episodes, making potions and other things to control his other side.
❝but what if—❞
Samantha continued changing as fast as she could, taking stuff she knew they will need once she got there ❝Remus, breath, I need you to calm down❞
Jogging towards the other end of the room, she took her purse and coat, ready to head out.
❝I'm on my way, okay? Just hold on❞ she pleaded, her eyes widen.
The patronus disappeared, and she went downstairs quickly. Her steps were firm and she walked towards her cabinet, taking a calmness potion with her. She put everything in her purse and soon apparated in line limit at the school, to the aid of her best friend.
Samantha walked in the forbidden forest, her hand illuminating her path. Apparently, the headmaster knew something had happened and she didn't had to ask for permission to enter the school grounds, they allowed her to come in quickly.
The first and last time she had been there was when James had convinced her to look for some unicorns, telling her how good a picture with one would look like. Samantha, being so naive and excited, she followed the boy.
With a camera in hand, the two walked in the forest in the lookout for the unicorn. However, they had only found a troll that was close to getting them if it wasn't for some birds distracting him. The two had run and promised to never entered again.
Samantha was breaking her promise, but this time for a better reason than a picture. She made her way around the trees, walking to where her friend was.
Even though the moon still illuminated the area, it was still dark, causing her to squint her eyes at everything that moved. It scared her being there, but she wasn't going to turn around and leave.
After multiple attempts of trying not to fall with the roots of the trees, she finally saw the figure of someone laying in the ground. With her eyes widen, she ran to him.
❝Remus❞ she fell to her knees, turning his body who was in a fetal position ❝hey, it's okay, I'm here❞
Remus opened his eyes, looking more tired than he had ever been. She helped him sat down, examining his face for an injured.
❝I'm fine❞ he whispered, closing his eyes. Samantha dropped her hand to her side, sighing.
❝Come on, we have to get you some clean clothes, food and a bath, you look pale❞
Samantha stood up, gathering all her strength to help him get to his feet. He stood up, and she felt his body weaken, so she put his arm around her for support and she held him with an arm.
❝did you ran out of potion?❞ she asked quietly, remembering the way out of the forest.
❝I forgot to drink it, something came up❞ he whispered, closing his eyes in between seconds. She glanced at him, worrying that he might passed out.
❝what happened?❞
❝I'm so sorry, Sam❞ he whispered, causing her to frown ❝I should've believed you❞
❝what are you talking about, Remus?❞ she questioned, finally reaching the end of the forest.
As they walked, Samantha looked up, loving how the sky could be seen at night. As she did so, something caught her attention in the distance. She squinted her eyes, trying to see what it was, but it was quickly flying away. For some reason, her eyes didn't want to stop staring.
The two entered the castle through a safer passage, not wanting anyone to see them. Their footsteps were the only thing that could be heard around the massive castle, causing Samantha to remember many things.
Entering the classroom, Sam guided Remus through the desks, going to his office. With the support of the staircase, the two managed to get in. The latter was positioned in the couch, while Sam put her purse in the table.
❝do you want to talk about what happened?❞ she asked quietly, taking out the potions and food to give him.
❝you were right❞ he whispered, looking at the ground ❝I'm sorry for not believing you❞
❝about what?❞ she frowned, standing up with the cup in hand. She sat down next to him, giving him the potion carefully.
❝about Sirius❞ he confessed, this time looking at her.
Samantha froze in her spot, her heart beating in a fast pace. Her eyes found his, and she could see that he was not lying.
❝I saw him, tonight❞
❝what?❞ she spoke softly, not understanding how they saw each other. Sirius wouldn't enter the school grounds, he knew people were in the lookout.
❝I had the map, I followed Harry and his friends and I found Sirius and Peter with them❞
Samantha opened her mouth, but she closed it again. She was more confused than ever ❝what the hell?❞
Remus took the cup from her hands and put it in the floor. He turn to see her, gulping.
❝Peter is alive❞ he waited for her to react to the news, but her face was still passive.
❝I know❞ she nodded, causing him to raise his eyebrows.
❝You know? How do you know?❞
❝I received information about his ties with the death eaters and I figured he couldn't have died just like that, but you saw him?❞ she went back to their previous conversation, wanting to know what had happened.
❝Yeah, he was in the form of a rat, Ron's rat❞
Samantha opened her mouth in disbelief, realizing the reason why the rat never wanted to be in the same place as hers.
❝Sirius took Ron, and naturally, Harry and Hermione followed❞ Remus explained, passing a hand in his face, frustrated ❝I got there, and Sirius freaked them out a little, they thought I was helping him!❞
❝Let me guess, you lowered your wand and you two hugged each other in front of them❞ she rises her eyebrow, and he rolled his eyes. Knowing each other for so long caused them to figure out how the other acted.
❝Yes❞ he said quietly, taking the cup with the potion she brought to calmed down and get a good rest.
❝of course they were going to suspect you! They're kids, they don't know what we know, they are smart enough to see something was happening❞ she shook her head, worrying about Harry and his friends, but also about Sirius.
❝Snape was there too❞
❝Oh for godric's sake❞ she groaned, knowing that their former classmate was going to do everything in his power to get no only Sirius captured, but Remus unemployed and the kids suspended.
❝Harry knocked him out❞ he let out, knowing that would still worry her even more.
Samantha blinked, trying to stay calm ❝Can't say James wouldn't be proud of that❞
Remus looked at her with his eyes eyebrows raised, but then shook his head, continuing ❝When we got out of there after the explanation, I saw the moon and I remembered I didn't took my potion, I...transform in front of them❞
❝Oh, Remus❞ she embraced him, knowing it was very difficult for him still to deal with his transformations.
❝I don't know if I hurt anyone, the only thing I remember is Sirius transforming❞ he spoke against her coat, causing his voice to be muffled with hurt in his tone. The sunrise was begging to slip its rays through the window, casting their shadow to grow.
Samantha sighed, they separated and she put her hands on his shoulders ❝let's make a deal, I'll go search for them while you rest❞
❝I'm going to leave the position❞ he whispered, but she shook her head.
❝This is what you love to do, you deserve this job❞ she put a hand on his cheek, but he shook his head, looking down.
❝I need to, parents wouldn't want their kids to be taught by someone like me❞
❝then they'll have to fight someone like me if they don't like it❞
Remus let out a small laugh, causing Samantha to smile ❝go check on them, maybe Sirius is trapped❞
Samantha exhaled, dropping her hand ❝I have a feeling they're alright❞
The potion was staring to work, and Remus' eyelids were beginning to close. She stood up, helping him lay down. With a sigh, she took a cloth and water, and began to clean his dirty face. Soon, he was fast asleep.
After making sure he was safe, she took off her coat and left it with her purse in the table. With a last look at him, she exited the office, going to find the rest of her family.
Samantha was waiting in the station, watching how all the mothers smiled when being reunited with their children. She leaned against a pole, her eyes looking for a familiar face.
Soon, the face of her godson appeared and he waved at her. She smiled and stood up straight, her hand still carrying the box of sweets she brought him.
❝Hey, Sam❞ he said once he arrived at her side. They gave each other a hug and she carried some of his luggage while he unwrapped a sweet.
❝Hello, Harry❞
Just as they were about to walk, she noticed the new broom in his hand, causing her to furrow her eyebrows.
❝Where did you get that?❞ she looked between the broom and him, watching how a small smile appeared in his face.
❝It was a gift❞ he shrugged and began to walk, she had no choice but to follow him.
❝a gift?❞ she asked incredulously, looking at Hedwig for an answer. The owl just hooted, looking at her with wide eyes ❝from who?❞
❝I think you might know him, he said you loved the color purple❞ he grinned, causing her eyes to wide.
❝Harry—❞ she looked around, amused. The boy only giggled and she shook her head ❝we'll talk later, mister❞
The two smiled and walked out of the station, ready to go home. The next day, they were going to see Jason and his family, and then they planned on watching movies and having special dinner.
❝Was it a good year?❞ she asked, loading his trunk on the back of her car. He hummed, putting Hedwig on the back seat.
❝It wasn't bad❞ he smiled, nodding at the memory of what had happened ❝was it a good year for you?❞
The two entered the car, and out their seatbelts on. She made sure they were all secure and then she started the car.
❝It wasn't bad❞ she answered, smiling.
Samantha put the music on and began to drive, ready to go home and see what other events might come their way.
