"They'll leave us alone now, angel."

Oh how Aziraphale had wished that. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

Gabriel would not leave Aziraphale alone, not this time. He was taking his revenge and hacking away at the angel's wings. Every inch of muscle and tissue was being ripped away.

"No! Stop!" Aziraphale cried as he laid in a pile of his own blood. His wings laid beside his body. His back felt bare.

Gabriel stood in front of him and said, "An angel is pathetic without his wings."

"Pathetic... I'm-"

Aziraphale woke up from the nightmare he was having. He looked around him, seeing that he wasn't covered in blood and that Gabriel was no where to be seen. His wings on the other hand were still gone. It had been years those. Scars remained on his back where wings should have been.

He hated to see them. They made him feel disgusting and pathetic. Muscles around his back always felt tense.

"Oh dear, I'm all sweaty."

He figured he should take a bath. He got up from the bed and walked into the bathroom. Then he started the tub and miracled his clothes away. He then caught sight of himself in the mirror.

"Oh... Look at yourself."

Tears ran down his cheeks as he stood in front of the mirror, staring at his body.

"Disgusting... They look so disgusting on my back. I wish I could just miracle them away," Aziraphale said as he looked over his body, "And these ones on my legs too. Those are worse. It's because I'm fat."

Aziraphale slipped into the bath tub. The water was warm. It felt good on his cold body. It soothed sore muscles too.

It all was rather relaxing, at least until Crowley appeared in front of him.

"Taking a bath angel?"

Aziraphale's eyes flew open. He saw Crowley sitting on the bathroom counter.

"Oh, Crowley you scared me," Aziraphale laughed. He smiled softly at the demon.

Crowley asked, "We're you crying? Your eyes look all red."

"Allergies are a nightmare this time of year."

"Angel, it's the middle of December and you're well... an angel. You don't have seasonal allergies."

Aziraphale said, "Fine. I had a nightmare. It's alright though. Do you think perhaps we could talk after I finish my bath?"

"Are you embarrassed by me being here, angel? Afraid of me seeing you in such a vulnerable state?"

Aziraphale said, "Yes, please go away. I'm easily embarrassed."

"Alright then. I was wondering if you wanted to go on a picnic with me later?" Crowley asked as he opened the bathroom door.

Aziraphale responded, "That would be lovely."

Crowley waited downstairs for Aziraphale to finish his bath.

With nothing else to do they got in the Bentley and drove off. They only stopped when they were far away from people. In the open fields they could be alone.

Crowley miracled food and a picnic blanket for them.

Aziraphale only took little nibbles off of his sandwhich.

"Something wrong, angel?" Crowley asked. He noticed Aziraphale wasn't eating very much.

"Everything is tickity-boo."

"Then eat up."

Aziraphale nodded and ate a little more. He wanted to make Crowley happy after all.

"Oh bummer, look at the sky Crowley. I don't think it's going to snow, so that means rain."

They both looked to the sky.

"Wanna cover me angel? Just like old times?"

For a moment Aziraphale forgot that he had no wings, but moments like that only last a second. It's difficult to forget you don't have wings.

"I'd love to but there's a problem with that."

Crowley laughed, "What? You're wearing that sweater Madame Tracey insisted on you wearing. Just rip it. Can't be that bad."

Aziraphale shook his head and said, "Come on. Let's go to the car."

"Wait! Aziraphale I want to see your wings!" Crowley shouted as Aziraphale putted away from him.

"No!"

"Please, angel!"

"Crowley I'd rather not!"

"I haven't seen them in centuries!"

Aziraphale looked back at Crowley and said, "That's because I don't have them anymore."

"What do you mean don't have them anymore?"

Aziraphale fell to the ground and began to cry. Crowley ran to him and hugged him.

"Gabriel cut them off!"

Crowley stared at Aziraphale and asked, "May I see your back then?"

Aziraphale buried his face against Crowley's chest and said, "No, because it's ugly. I'm ugly Crowley."

"No you're not, Aziraphale. You're beautiful."

Aziraphale muttered, "You don't have to lie to me."

"I'm not, angel. I think you're the most beautiful thing in the entire universe. You're from Heaven after all."

"Doesn't mean anything. Think of all the other angels."

"They aren't you. I love you. Come on, let's go home."

Rain began to sprinkle down on the two. Crowley ran back and cleaned up the picnic. He also put the blanket over the both of them, keeping them from getting drenched.

When they arrived back at the bookshop, Crowley convinced Aziraphale to show him the scars on his back.

"Angel. Look at these."

"I know, they're ugly," Aziraphale squeaked. He was on the verge of tears.

Crowley traced his finger down the largest of the scars.

"No, they aren't ugly. Do they hurt?"

Aziraphale sighed, "Sometimes."

"Right now?"

"Not really. This morning they were."

Crowley kissed Aziraphale's back and said, "We'll do something about the pain, but I personally think your scars are beautiful."

"What's an angel without wings?"

"Still an angel. You'll always be my angel."

"I'm a fat angel. I've got stretch marks."

Crowley said, "I don't care. You're shaped like my angel."

"Don't you want me to try to look better for you?" Aziraphale asked. He squeezed Crowley's hand.

Crowley said, "You look wonderful, angel. I love the way you look. You should feel good about yourself too."

"Do you really think that, Crowley?"

"Yes angel."

Aziraphale softly smiled and said, "Then I guess I'll try to feel okay with myself then."
