Samantha furrowed her eyebrows, looking at him through her teary eyes. Without missing a second, she embraced him tightly.

James chuckled ❝I didn't think you missed me that much, Sam❞ he joked, and she cracked a smile, not closing her eyes in fear of him disappearing. He returned the embrace tightly, passing a hand through her hair.

❝look at that, she hasn't been here for five minutes and you already made her cry, Potter❞

Immediately, Sam turn to the person who spoke, and her chest began to breath faster.

James released her from the hug and watched as her face fell down, lips shaking in sadness.

❝Hey there, Castle❞ Marlene smirked, looking down in her direction.

Samantha stood up slowly with the help of James and began to approach the brunette in a slow pace. But when Marlene opened her arms, she couldn't help it and she ran towards her, almost knocking each other down.

❝you're here❞ Sam cried on her shoulder, hugging her very tightly.

❝I am, Sam❞ Marlene whispered on her ear, tightly hugging her back.

This must a dream, she thought, a wonderful one.

Marlene let go, and took her face in her hands, smiling sweetly ❝look how much you've grown❞

    Samantha chuckled as tears began to fall down her eyes. Marlene passed her thumb underneath her eyes and cleaned the tears away.

❝I missed you❞ Samantha whispered wholeheartedly, touching her cheek to make sure she was really there.

    ❝and I missed you, Sam❞ Marlene smiled, pulling her in for another hug.

    Samantha looked around and recognized the house immediately. If they were here, where was her other best friend?

    She looked at Marlene, furrowing her eyebrows ❝where's—❞

    ❝Samantha?❞

    Slowly, Sam turn around, seeing the female redhead standing a few feet away from her. She let out breath, feeling her hand shaking as she saw the smile grow in her friend's face.

    ❝Lily❞ Samantha cried and ran to her, hugging her very tightly.

    Lily chuckled, and put a hand on her head, passing her hand through her hair like James had done. Her scent was there, and it felt like they had never left.

    ❝I don't understand❞

They separated and Sam frowned, looking back at James and Marlene. Lily took her hand, interlacing them together.

❝y-you guys are—❞ Sam pursed her lips, not wanting to say the word. But she didn't had to, because they nodded in response ❝am I...❞

❝no❞ Lily smiled softly at her, squeezing her hand ❝but I'm glad you're here, even if it's only for a minute❞

❝I am so sorry❞ Sam whispered looking between the three, shaking her head ❝this should've never happened❞

❝none of this is your fault, Sam❞ Marlene said gently, walking towards her ❝there was no way of you knowing what was going to happen or how❞

❝but I should've been there for you❞ she shook her head as James smiled sadly at her. He stood next to her, putting an arm around her shoulders.

❝but then what would've happened to Harry? And those two idiots you have back home?❞ he raised his eyebrows, looking at her ❝none of this is your fault❞

❝we're so proud of you, Samantha❞ Lily smiles wide at her while tears were filling her eyes ❝of how much you've grown, of what you have done for everyone❞

    ❝thank you for taking care of our boy❞ James looked down at her, nodding slowly ❝I'm happy you were the one that took him in, you raised him and love him as your own❞

    ❝He is so much like you in many ways❞ Sam smiled softly, letting more tears fill her eyes ❝I wish you could see him❞

    ❝but we do❞ Lily nodded, smiling at her ❝we're always there, watching over you❞

    ❝thank you for visiting me so often❞ Marlene smiled at her, tilting her head ❝it was comforting see you were still talking to me after all those years❞ Sam retuned her smile, nodding.

❝I wanted to make sure you were not alone❞ Sam replied, causing Marlene's smile to go wider.

❝there's so much we want to say, Sam, but we're running out of time❞ Lily whispered, causing Sam to turn with a frown.

❝what do you mean?❞

❝no matter how much we miss you and want you to stay here with us, they need you more❞ James said softly, and she turn to see him.

❝but—❞

❝there's so much more for you ahead❞ Lily squeezed her hand, turning to see her completely ❝this is not the end for you❞

❝even if you can't see us, just know that we're there beside you❞ Marlene gave her a half smile, seeing her once last time.

❝thank you everything you've done...and tell Harry we love him, as well as Sirius and Remus❞ James smiled sadly, dropping his arm to put a hand on her shoulder ❝we will meet again one day, Sam, but until then, you have to go back❞

Samantha pursed her lips, looking at them with tears in her eyes ❝I love you so much❞

❝and we love you, Samantha❞ Lily smiled, putting her free hand on her cheek like she had done so many times in the past ❝I want you to stay, with us...but they need you❞

❝am I going to see you again?❞ she asked, looking between the three, not wanting to let them go.

❝possibly❞ Marlene nodded and give her a little smile as she took a step back ❝but until that time comes, stop thinking of what could've been, and start imaging what is going to be❞

❝we love you, Samantha❞ James analyzed her face, squeezing her shoulder before letting go to stand next to Marlene ❝but you need to wake up❞

❝I love you❞ she whispered and received three sets of smiles.

❝don't give up, Sam❞ Lily smiled at her and let go of her hand, walking to stand next to James.

❝close your eyes and breath❞ James guided and she looked at the three of them one last time, having their smiles imprinted in her mind. Slowly, she obeyed and closed her eyes, exhaling. Everything began to feel different, time moving all around her as she imagined herself standing in the void ❝now, wake up❞

Sam didn't know how, but felt something change. Next thing she knew, she was being pull back to reality, but she still held onto the droplets of her dream. Somehow, she knew everything will be okay one day.

Perhaps it was the fact that she knew her best friends were looking over them, or maybe it was the fact that she had more strength than before. Either way, she wasn't going to let it go.

Then, she woke up.
