As you looked upon the men that stood behind the barbed wire gate you couldn't help but think about Joe, your joe.
He was probably doing the exact thing right now, you were both Jewish, you knew what this was as soon as your saw it, yet you had no idea the extent in which these people had suffered.
You put a hand over your mouth and sobbed into it, you jumped when you felt a hand land on your shoulder, looking to your left you saw Major Winters next to you.
"I need you and Joe to translate for me, can you do that?" He asked and you just nodded as you followed the Major in.

Men grabbed your arm and held on tight, you got kisses to the check and people saying thank you in there language. All you could do was nod and give them a small smile.
You saw Joe and he locked eyes with you, he put his hand out for you and you took it.
You stood next to each other hand in hand while listening to the Jewish man in front of you while Major Winter, Captain Nixon and Captain Speirs stood and watched you both talk your native language with these men.
"Sir he says the guards left early this morning, they set fire to the huts and killed as many men as they could" you heard joe say as his thumb ran over your knuckles, you looked down at your boots and closed your eyes. You weren't listening to much until you heard the word "Juden" come out of his mouth, joes hand froze on yours.
"Joe? Ella?" Winters asked, concern in his voice.
Joe couldn't bring himself to say anything, it left just you.
"They are Jews sir, normal people like me and you" you whispered as you looked up to the three officers in front of you. All three of them were like brothers to you.
The Jewish man continued and you stepped forward when he told you there was a women's camp.
"Ella what is it?" Nix asked as he looked from you to joe. You turned and looked at them.
"There's a women's camp at the next Railway station" you whispered and you could see the shock on there faces, joe pulled you into his chest as tears ran down your face, all you wanted to do was disappear, joe rubbed up and down your back as your hands clung to his jackets.
"Go sit down with her joe" you heard Winters say and before you knew Joe was walking away with you by his side.

"Ella we need you to go to the women's camp, can you do that?" Speirs asked as he crouched down beside you.
"Yes sir I can do that" you whispered without thinking.
"You sure?" Joe asked and you just nodded while getting up.
"Yes, that could of been me or you joe, I'm not letting those women suffer anymore" you said and he nodded in understanding, little did you know but Joe was hurting deep inside. He knew it could of been you or him but also his whole family, his sisters, he couldn't deal with the fact that that could of been all of them, dead or tortured in a slave camp, and all because you had a different religion. It made him sick, but he didn't want to upset you with his anger so he held it down.

You had been at the women's camp for over four hours, you had to help deliver a baby.
The mother was to weak to push through to see her baby, she died in the arms of a dog company medic who stayed to help you, the baby boy died 30 minutes after being born. You had made your walk back to camp with a baby in your arms, you didn't want to leave it there with all the evil.
"Ella!" Someone yelled out but you didn't stop to listen to them, you walked into CP and all eyes went to you and then to the little bundle in your arms.
"Jesus" you heard Nix whisper as he walked up to you.
You looked at him and burst into tears. He put an arm around your shoulder and rubbed your arm.
"I couldn't leave it there lewis, I just couldn't" you said through sobs and he nodded.
"Nix go find joe and bring Eugene as well" dick said and nix nodded and was out the door.
"Ella do you want me to take the baby?" Ron asked as he helped you sit down in his chair, you shock your head no and he understood.
Ron and dick stood there and watched you while they waited for Lewis to come back to Joe and Eugene. They knew joe should be able to help and Gene can take care of the baby.
As if on cue the three men walked in.
"Honey" joe whispered as he crouched down in front of you and put his hands on your arms to steady you.
"Joe" you whispered as you looked up, seeing the concern in his face made you break down. You looked down at the lifeless baby and then back at joe, the officers and Gene stood and watched you both, they didn't know how to feel about the whole situation.
"Gene you wanna take the baby?" Joe asked while looked up at him.
"Yeah I can do that. Ella can I?" Gene asked as he bent down to your level.
"Please look after him Gene" you said as you handed him over.
"Of course Ella" he whispered as he held the baby, he nodded to the officers and walked out, that was when you fully broke down in joes arms, he pulled you into his chest and rubbed your back up and down, over your shoulder Joe looked at the three officers, they knew Joe needed a minute with you so they left the room.
"Darling look at me" he whispered but you wouldn't move.
"Please Ella look at me for gods sack" you could hear the concern in his voice.
"I'm sorry Joe, I'm so sorry, I just can't do this" you whispered as you locked eyes with him.
"I know, but you need to calm down now ok, I'm here and I'll always be here for you and you know that" you nodded wiped the tears away.
"How about we go to my bed and cuddle yea?" He asked and you smiled a little at him.
"There's that smile I love" he whispered, little did he know the three officers could hear you both and they smiled knowing you were in good hands.
"Ok Joe" you said and he helped you up but you felt so weak your legs gave out.
"Come on I'll carry you" he said as he picked you up like a child with his hands under your bum your legs around his waist, your leant your head into the crock of his neck and sighed.
Joe walked out the room and the officers saw you both and just chuckled.
"Go get her to bed joe" Ron said and he nodded his head at them.
Once you had made it up to joes bed he laid you down and cuddled into you while the other boys lay down in there bed as well, they had heard about what had happened and knew you needed time with Joe, and that's what they wanted to give you.
"I love you Ella" you heard joe whisper as you drifted into sleep. You cuddled closer to him and you heard him chuckle. " I love you more Joe" you whispered and you were out like a light. He didn't go to sleep but he watched over you until sleep took over him. He didn't want you to feel like you did ever again, he knew seeing women hurt and miss treated hurt you a lot, but all he could do was hope everything was going to be okay.
