You stood beside your best friend, wondering what would happen next. When your father said you were moving to the planet Vulcan, you were a bit upset, mainly because you worried you wouldn't have any friends.

But you did make one. He seemed different when you met him, and soon found out why. He was half human.

It was storming on Vulcan, something that didn't happen very often. The rain fell in heavy, cold turrets. Pounding on the roof of the small home Spock shared with his parents.

A bright flash of greenish lightning, and an extreme BOOM of thunder made you jump. You turned back to the shelves in Spock's room, and looked at his collection of rocks and books over American history.

Spock just stayed by the window, looking at the flashes of light with fascination. He probably didn't remember the last time it rained. It happened so little here, a person could go half their lifetime and not see a drop.

Which was probably his case. "You know, just watching the rain won't make it stay." You said.

He turned to you, and shrugged, a habit he got from you, it drove his father crazy. "But it is so, " he paused to try and find the right word. "Fascinating." He whispered, then turned back to the window, jumping slightly when the vibrations of nearby thunder shook the house.

"You know, it does this all the time on Earth." You said, flipping through the pages of an old book.

"Really?"

"Yeah. In some places everyday."

"I want to go to earth." He said. "Just to see the rain. Even if I only got to stay one day."

"Maybe you can go to earth one day. I'm going to be going to Starfleet academy. Maybe you could go too!"

"Perhaps." He whispered, but you could tell by his tone of voice, he'd already made up his mind.
