Y/N Pov.
Clementine and I walk over to Kenny as he holds Sarita close to him. I can tell by the color of her skin and the yellow in her eyes that she's on her way out. Her skin is a ghostly white and she isn't even capable of moving, let alone walking. She doesn't have long. I give her less than an hour or so.
Kenny: It's alright, Sarita. It's gonna be okay. I'm gonna be here with you. Right 'til the end.
Clementine: Hey, Kenny.
Kenny looks up at us.
Kenny: You think I don't know what y'all are whispering about over there?
Y/n: No, you probably have a good idea. There's no point in talking about it.
The rest of the group walks past us and I notice Rebecca leans on Carley for support while holding her stomach. Molly is standing nearby but I can tell her head is mind else currently. I...take a moment and turn back to Kenny, but by the tone in his voice I can tell he's pissed.
Kenny: I said we just wanted a little fucking time alone to say goodbye.
Sarita groans.
Kenny: Shhh, shhh, shhh... It's okay, babe. It's okay. We're gonna get through this. We're gonna do what we gotta do. Gotta play the shit hand that this shit world dealt us...
I sigh and take my hat off, placing it on my chest.
Y/n: Kenny, we're sorry about what happened to Sarita, we truly are, but we need you. We need to make a plan so we can-
Before I can finish, Kenny snaps at me.
Kenny: Grow the fuck up and look around you, Y/n! Take a look at how our last plan worked out! There ain't some boat, or some train, or some other bullshit outta this one! Don't you think you two already done enough for today?
I start to get a little annoyed and I want to say something back but Clementine stops me. She slightly squeezes my hand and looks at me, shaking her head. I sigh and I don't say anything, letting his comment slide. I know he's angry, but that doesn't give him the right to be an asshole.
Clementine: Jane said that if you need help, she can make it...
Kenny: Jane? The fuck does Jane know?! I don't care what your new little friend is saying! I can do this myself.
Y/n: You know what? Fuck you, Kenny!
Everyone, including Clem, looks at me as I walk forward to Kenny.
Y/n: Everything that happened isn't on us! You were asshole who suggested the walkers, and while we went along with it you have to accept some responsibility for Sarita!
Kenny tries to say something, but I cut him off.
Y/n: I got branded because of this plan and took a nosedive onto concrete! I took not just one, but two for the team and you still have the gall to blame me?!
Clementine: Y/n, calm down...
Y/n: No!
I let go of Clementine's hand and march in front of Kenny, grabbing his shirt while I can feel Clementine trying to pull me back. Kenny is still holding onto Sarita, but he's glaring at me.
Y/n: Me and Clementine have been busting our asses for your plan and this group ever since I can remember. We've been doing the heavy lifting because apparently majority of you adults are so fucking incompetent you need kids to do everything. Well you know what? You can go get fucked for all I care.
I lean in closer.
Y/n: I was there for my girl, where were you for Sarita? You can't make the excuse that you go separated, because when that happened to me and Clem I went back for her. I had her back. With the way your acting, you're going to get us all killed, but news flash Kenny. Everybody's got dead people... That's no excuse to get us all killed along the way.
I let go of Kenny's shirt and put my hat back on my head. I can feel the stares of the others eyes on me, but after everything that's happened and all the bullshit he was spouting... I don't care. I'm over this. I try to be patient and nice, but that doesn't mean letting people walk all over you.
Y/n: Asshole.
Clementine and I go back over to the group, and Rebecca is sitting on the bench with Jane. Carley is nearby while Molly is pacing back and forth. She's still worried about everything, and...well I can't blame her. We're up a creek without a paddle and I can't swim. Mike is talking to the others.
Mike: I'm going crazy just sitting here not doing anything.
Bonnie: Just give it time, Mike. It's still early.
As we make it over to them, Carley looks at me.
Carley: Hey, kiddo. Are you alright?
Y/n: Yeah, I'm cool.
Clementine: (Sighs) Kenny's really mad at us. Probably more so Y/n now.
Rebecca looks at us.
Rebecca: Clem, you can't just expect him to bounce back. What that man's going through...
Y/n: I get what he's going through, I've been there, but just because Sarita's dying it doesn't give him the right to be an asshole. Hell, almost everyone I've ever known is dead, but I keep moving. Even after Lee died I didn't slow down, I kept moving because it's what I had to do. And it's what we've gotta do now.
Molly: At least you tried. That's something.
Mike: Still, doesn't exactly help us figure out what we're gonna do now. We've got no food, no water, it's getting damn cold, and we're losing daylight fast.
Clementine: Y/n's a walking heater. He's still wearing shorts and a tank top, but I think he feels fine.
She looks at me, and I nod.
Y/n: The cold doesn't bother me unless it starts raining hard. While rain doesn't affect my power or my body, it makes the cold stick more than cold air. Probably because it's water which is my natural counter, but I don't know.
Bonnie: When the others get back, they'll know what to do. Luke will have a plan.
Mike: We thought Kenny would have a plan.
Rebecca: Mike, Bonnie...
Jane: Mike's got a point. You can't just keep sitting around waiting. Things are difficult enough right now and soon you'll have a baby on your hands, too.
Rebecca groans.
Rebecca: What, suddenly you're pretending to be concerned?
Jane: Seeing you people floundering the minute things don't go according to plan has just got me on edge, alright?
Mike: Well, I don't exactly see you stepping up to help right now, either.
Molly stops the two from speaking any further.
Molly: Both of you shut it. We don't need anymore arguing. Let's just do what we've gotta do and survive. Like always. Even with the baby coming we'll just have to figure things out.
Clementine: We should go find Luke, Nick, and Sarah. If they're in trouble, we might be able to help them.
Rebecca: Clementine's right. After everything... after all this. If there's any chance they're still alive, we need to take it.
Y/n: Fine, you're right. We can't leave our people out to dry.
I look at the group.
Y/n: Is it just going to be us? I don't mind, but it's good to know ahead of time.
Jane stands up.
Jane: I'll go. The kids can come with me.
Molly walks over.
Molly: I'm gonna to go, too. I want to stretch my legs. If they're alive, they can't be far. We can find them.
Jane: One way or the other.
Rebecca: Thank you.
I notice Jane walk over to Carley and asks her about her gun while glancing over at Kenny. I understand what she's saying even if I can't hear her. She's worried about Kenny and if he's going to snap, she wants her to be prepared. All I can see is Carley nod and after that, she is quick to turn back to us.
Jane: Come on, guys.
Jane, Clem, Molly, and I leave the group as we enter the forest nearby. We start walking through it beside one another as we travel down a dirt path. Despite everything that's happened today I still find joy in walking through the forest. It almost makes me forget about all the death so far. As we walk, Jane starts to talk to us.
Jane: Look, I'm gonna level with you three.
We all turn to her.
Jane: There's no real point in scouting ahead. And you should know that finding your friends... that's a shot in the dark.
Y/n: (Shrugs) Maybe.
Molly glances at Jane as she has her pickaxe out in case we come across any walker.
Clementine: Well, then why'd we come out here?
Molly: I suppose it has something to do with why you didn't object to me following along.
Jane: I wanted to talk to you three, away from them. You wouldn't have made it this far if you weren't smart, but I still... I just gotta warn you. That group is cracking. I've seen it before. And, well a lot of times, it's better to be on your own. I know you see what I'm talking about.
Jane looks at me.
Jane: Especially you. You don't want to be here when they start... turning on each other. Turning on you.
Clementine sighs. I can tell she feels how I do.
Clementine: They're not bad people, but...there have been problems, before. I don't always agree with what they say or do.
Molly: I sure as hell don't.
Y/n: Me neither.
Jane: Neither do I. Look at Kenny. I don't even know where to begin with what a liability he is. I mean, Y/n put it perfectly. The way he is...he's going to get everyone killed. Everybody has dead people...
I take a moment and think back to what I said. In the heat of the moment I didn't care, and even now I still don't think I was wrong but... maybe I was a little too harsh on Kenny. He said some or, well, a lot of things but so did I. We were both riled up and... maybe I let my mouth speak before I could think.
Jane: Then you have Rebecca's "situation" not making things better back there. You get enough broken people together and all you're gonna get are broken decisions. Then only one back there who still has their head on right is Carley, but if she doesn't watch out that group is going to drag her down.
Clementine: Rebecca's just worried about her baby. I mean, wouldn't you be?
Jane pauses.
Jane: I wouldn't bring a kid into this world. And like you said, it's her baby. Not mine. Or any of yours.
After a few minutes more of walking we reach an abandoned car, and Jane begins to search through it as does Molly. Clem stands beside me but I walk behind her and lay my head on hers.
Y/n: Why is life so complicated?
Clementine: I'm not sure, Y/n. But at least we can handle it together.
Y/n: I guess so.
