3rd Pov.
It's night time, everyone other than Carlos is by the fire doing nothing as they wait for anything. Meanwhile Carlos is still checking in on Y/n's wound which has mostly been wrapped up now & has been tended to as best as it can. However, his brand, which is the shape of a skull, isn't the only thing he has to worry about. Molly is pacing back and forth, Carley is rubbing her temples, Kenny is by Sarita, and Clem is still sitting on the ground.
Mike and Luke speak to Bonnie through the door to the yard, and then she leaves. Mike and Luke join the others. Rebecca looks at them.
Rebecca: What'd she say?
Mike: She said she can get us out of the pen if we can get the PA system going. Second she hears it, she'll run over and spring us.
Rebecca: That's great.
Luke: It's not great.
Molly scoffs.
Molly: Well sorry sunshine, but we're shit out of options. This is the best bet we've got.
Rebecca looks at Luke as she wonders about what he means by his statement.
Rebecca: What're you talking about?
Luke: Look, I know part of this is my fault, I-I know. I was hungry, I got reckless trying to steal some food and I got caught...
Kenny: Yeah, nice going asshole.
Kenny glares at Luke as he partially blames him over what happened to Y/n. If Luke hadn't got caught, he might not be in the state that he's in. Carley looks at him and he looks back, but she shakes her head. Kenny doesn't say anything, but Clementine does.
Clementine: We can't stay here!
Rebecca: Exactly. We have no idea how long Alvin's got before Bill just kills him. We have to leave now.
Luke: Look, I hear what you're saying, but it's risky.
Nick looks at the group from his chair and nods, agreeing with Luke.
Nick: It is pretty risky, guys.
Mike: Risky? Did you see what that son of a bitch and his batshit daughter just did? Look, the plan works. Nothing needs to change. It's all set up. The hard part is done. This guy's fucking crazy. Who knows what he'll do next?
Carley: Agreed.
Carley stands up.
Carley: We're not staying here another night. We can't afford to.
Luke: Yeah, but now we're dealing with a kid beat to shit, and I'm a goddamn mess. Look, we should rest up, okay? We should bide our time, and we should wait for an opening
Carley: But didn't Bonnie agree to help us tonight?
Luke: That doesn't mean she can't another night.
Nick: I don't know, guys. Luke's making sense. Maybe we should wait.
Kenny grunts and walks over to Nick.
Kenny: Listen here, dumbass. We're not waiting. The longer we wait, the more time it gives that psychotic fuck more chances to kill us. I'm not letting that happen. Especially not after today.
Luke: Ain't nothing out there, guys. Trust me, I looked! There's no food, there's no supplies. They picked everything clean. I'm just saying, we gotta be sensible about this.
Molly: And when Carver just gets the urge to kill one of us again for no particular reason... What then? Will we bide our time more?
Mike looks at Luke.
Mike: This is being sensible.
Clementine looks back at Carlos and the cot where Y/n is laying on top of. She turns back to the rest of the group.
Clementine: We need to leave now. It's only gonna get worse.
Carlos joins the group just as Luke speaks again.
Luke: This is what I'm talking about. We're in no shape to go now.
Everyone looks at Carlos, wondering about the condition Y/n is in, but Clementine is the first to ask.
Clementine: How... How is he? Is he okay?
Carlos: (Sighs) The branding on his back tore some of his flesh away and it's going to leave a nasty scar. He will need to have his scarring tended to otherwise it could get infected but I'm pretty sure he'll pull through from that.
The others grin hearing about him, but before they can get to happy, Carlos continues.
Carlos: I wouldn't get too excited just yet.
Everyone stops.
Carlos: The scarring will be manageable as long as we have antibiotics to clean it, that's true. But that's not what I'm worried about now. You see, after Madison threw him onto the floor he hit his head on it and it gave him a concussion but I'm not sure how bad. I got him as stable as I could but until he wakes up, we won't know if there's any damage to the brain.
Kenny: Fuck.
Clementine clutches his hat and necklace in her hands as Carley sits back down in her chair. She doesn't know what to say or do, while Molly on the other hand is pacing back & forth like before, but more angrily now. Angry at the situation, herself, and mostly at Carver and Madison for the situation.
Luke: Okay, look maybe I'm just playing devil's advocate here, but if, damn it, if y'all are serious about going tonight, then we're gonna have to start talking about maybe leaving some folks behind.
Clementine/Molly/Carley: No!
Luke: There is no other way.
Rebecca: This is bullshit.
Luke: Well, I don't like it either, but guess what? It's where we're at.
Kenny angrily stomps over to Luke and grabs him by the collar, lifting him out of his seat.
Kenny: You piece of shit, he's only in that condition 'cause you got caught. And if you even think about leaving him behind, I swear, you won't be making it out either.
Sarita: That child is only here because of you people just like Clementine, Kenny, and Me.
Carley: Yeah. If it wasn't for you assholes my kid wouldn't be here. And he wouldn't be in the condition he's in.
Carlos: So we should risk all of our lives?
Molly: I heard how much he and Clem have had to do for your group. You owe him. All of you do.
Carlos: Just thinking out loud here.
Clementine: We aren't leaving him! We'll figure something out! Okay, just... It's not fair!
Luke: Life ain't fair, Clem. We're just trying to make the best of a bad situation, here. No one wants to leave Y/n.
Suddenly, the group hears a small set of footsteps coming there way and a familiar voice.
Y/n: Good, 'cause... you won't have to.
Everybody looks and finds Y/n standing up with his torso completely covered up in bandages. He has on the rest of his clothes besides his tank top which is hanging over his shoulder currently. Clem is the first to run over to him as she almost jumps on top of him, holding onto him as she's still holding onto his hat and necklace.
Y/n: (Smiles) Nice to see you too, Clem.
She buries her head in his chest as the others watch. Carlos was surprised he was even standing, while the others were just happy he was up. Molly walks over with Carley and they place a hand on each of his shoulders.
Y/n: I'm alright, guys. The plan doesn't change. We're leaving tonight.
Kenny: (Grins) You're goddamn right.
Sarah walks over and smiles at Y/n.
Sarah: I'm glad you're okay.
Y/n: Yeah, believe me this is going to hurt like hell for a few weeks, but in time it'll feel better. Nothing I can't handle.
Mike: You are one tough bastard.
Y/n: I'm pretty sure tough bastards wouldn't scream like I did. But thanks.
After a moment Clem steps back as does Carley and Molly. Clementine holds out Y/n's items and he grabs them. He slips on his tank top followed by his necklace & his iconic orange cowboy hat.
Luke: Alright... Well, then, what now?
Molly: We get the fuck outta here.
Luke: Like now, now?
Carley: Yes!
Kenny looks at the group as Clementine clings to Y/n's arm, wanting to avoid hugging him too much as to not mess with his wound by accident.
Kenny: Where are we going? In case things get squirrely and we gotta make a break for it, we need a place to meet up.
Mike thinks for a moment.
Mike: We could meet out at Parker's Run.
Y/n: What's that?
Mike: It's a Civil War site just a few miles north. Tourist trap. Got signs all over. Just follow the road.
Rebecca: We stopped there after we escaped the first time. Luke and Carlos know where it is. It's not that far.
Kenny: Well, at least if a few folks know where it's at, it'll be easier to find if we're split up. Alright, that works.
Y/n: Agreed. It shouldn't be too much of a hassle.
Luke: Then we just need someone to go set off that PA, right? I mean, you never bothered to explain who's supposed to do that.
Before anyone can say anything, Y/n and Clementine start walking over toward the wall. They knew it'd more than likely be one of them, if not both, even Y/n's current condition. This just... Well, cuts out the whole song and show of asking, "Who's going to do it?" which really go on Y/n's nerves. Y/n lifts Clem up in his arms in the princess carry, like he used to do so long ago.
Y/n: You ready?
Clementine: Yep.
The others in the group walk over to the wall, and Carley is the first to speak.
Carley: Hey, are you sure you'll be able to do this? You just woke up.
Y/n: (Shrugs) I don't have time to think about it. We've gotta get this done. I can rest when we're all safe. Trust me, we'll be okay. Not to mention I've got some things I gotta go get. Things I can't leave behind.
Rebecca: Be sure to remember to flip the switch for the outdoor speakers. Just the indoor speakers might not draw the herd. It's right on the microphone box.
Clementine: Got it.
Rebecca: By default it's set to play music, so you should just have to turn it on, right? Then climb back up and drop into the stockroom. We'll meet you there.
Y/n: Cool.
Molly: Be careful.
Y/n: Of course.
Nodding, Y/n uses his head to show the others that they should step back and like before he jets up to the top of the building while shooting fire from the bottom of his feet. After a quick jet, he gets them toward the top of the roof.
Rebecca: Make sure you bring Alvin.
Clementine: Okay.
Y/n sets Clementine down and the two run off towards Carver's office. They open the skylight and drop down into Carver's office where they find Alvin still alive, but unconscious as he isn't moving but still breathing.
Y/n: C'mon, we'll deal with Alvin in a minute. Let's get this shit set up.
They go over to the PA system and start to set things up, but suddenly Y/n stops.
Y/n: What are we doing again? I forgot.
Clementine: We're setting up the PA system remember? I guess your concussion is still taking it's toll. Here, let me do it.
Clementine switches on the external speakers.
Clementine: And now the mic.
Clementine turns the volume knob, but music doesn't play.
Y/n: What's going on?
Clementine tries to turn on the CD receiver, but nothing happens.
Clementine: No, no, no, no... Nothing's happening!
Y/n: Wait, check the CD thing.
She does so and there's nothing inside.
Clementine: No, where are they?
Y/n looks around and grabs the CD from the shelf below the desk, inserts it, and Clem turns it on.
Clementine: Come on, come on... Please, work.
Y/n turns up the volume.
PA: This Fourth of July, make sure your backyard barbecue is complete with Howe's full line of products to meet your grilling needs.
Upon hearing the recording, Bonnie runs to the pen. At the same time, the two suddenly hear movement and turn around to find Alvin searching through Carver's desk drawer.
Clementine: Alvin, are you okay...?
Alvin finds a pistol.
Alvin: (Chuckles) Carver talks all that tough guy shit, then keeps the tiniest gun in the universe. Something funny about that.
Down on the ground, Clementine and Y/n can see several guards mobilizing along with Carver. Madison is down there as well, but for some reason she's holding his baseball bat & his guitar. They look at Alvin.
Clementine: Come on! We have to go!
Y/n: Yeah, I think it's best if we get the hell out of here.
Alvin: I ain't going anywhere, but you two are. Go on. I mean to get some payback.
Clementine: No! We're leaving. We're all leaving.
Alvin: I ain't fit to move, kids. I've... I've run outta road.
Suddenly they hear some commotion coming near they door.
Alvin: You gotta get outta here. They'll be here any second.
Y/n: Thanks Alvin.
Alvin: You two take care of my girls. I get the feeling it's... it's gonna be a girl. Just a hunch. Go on.
Clementine and Y/n climb up the lockers. One of the guards enters and shoots Alvin in the shoulder, and Alvin shoots him in the chest before slumping over in the chair after finally succumbing to his wounds. The two return to the roof and start to follow along looking at the skylights. Tavia enters the roof and they run off before they're seen, when suddenly they hear gunshots.
Y/n: (Whisper) Over here.
Clementine follows Y/n and they drop down into the stockroom where Carver has the group at gunpoint, and they have their hands up. Madison is beside him. She has Y/n's baseball bat and his guitar with her, even Molly's pickaxe. Y/n and Clementine nod to each other before they start to shimmy across the shelves.
Carver: You wanna disrespect me, fine! You wanna throw away the life I'm trying to build for us all, then fucking fine! You wanna run off with this dogshit group of crippled fucks, then fine! Be my guest. But I will put a bullet in you and that baby before I let you leave again with my child!
Rebecca: It's not yours!
Carver: You don't fucking know that! And until we do, you're not going anywhere!
Madison: Damn, I was really looking forward to messing with that boy some more. I thought if I hid his stuff I could use it as some sort of bargaining chip just to break it in front of him. I guess he left though. That sucks.
Just as the two make it over them, they jump down and Clem kicks Carver, making him stumble forward whereas Y/n hits Madison with a dropping elbow. Kenny punches Carver and Luke takes his gun, pointing it at him while Molly runs forward and punches Madison to the ground with a solid punch. She grabs her pickaxe & Y/n's things with the help of Carley. The group lowers their hands and picks up their weapons.
Luke: Get back.
Carver: Come on, Luke. This ain't none of your business.
Y/n helps Clementine up and Rebecca looks at them.
Rebecca: Kids, where... why isn't Alvin with you? Where is he?
Rebecca notices the expression on their faces and realizes what happened.
Rebecca: Alvin...
Luke: Rebecca, I am... oh, God, I am so sorry.
Rebecca: (Glares) Kill him.
Carver: Rebecca, Rebecca, sweetie, my God. How did we get here, you and me? This is just a bit of a custody battle we got on our hands, here.
Rebecca: Shoot him.
Y/n and Clementine nod.
Clementine: Just shoot him.
Y/n: Yeah.
Luke, who's holding the gun, looks at them.
Luke: What? No, I-
Before Luke can finish, Kenny shoots Carver in both knees, and he falls to the ground. Kenny picks up a nearby crowbar. Everyone looks surprised, but it wasn't over. Madison goes to say something, but before she can finish there's loud snap and she falls to the ground while she holds onto her leg, just gasping for air. The group looks and finds that Carley is holding Y/n's baseball bat, and had just broken her leg with a single swing.
Carley: I really needed that.
Carley then looks at Y/n and she tosses his bat to him.
Carley: Do what you have to do.
She starts to walk away towards the door which leads outside along with Molly.
Kenny: Go on and wait outside.
Carlos: We have to go!
Sarita: Kenny, please.
Mike opens the door. He, Bonnie, and Jane leave.
Kenny: I only need a minute.
Kenny looks at the kids.
Kenny: Go on. You don't need to see this.
Carver: Those kids have already seen more than you can imagine.
Luke: Shut your mouth, Bill! You're all just gonna let him do this?
Rebecca glares at Carver, not taking her eyes off of him as she responds.
Rebecca: Yes.
Luke: There ain't one part of that son of a bitch and her I don't hate, but that does not make this right. I don't want nothing to do with this.
Clementine and Y/n walk over to Madison and she looks up at them with fear in her eyes. For the first time, she was the one who was about to take the beating. She was the one who was afraid.
Y/n: We aren't going anywhere, Luke. We've still got business to attend to.
Kenny: It's gonna get messy.
Clementine: We know.
Carver looks at everyone.
Carver: Look at you, you fucking ingrates. You don't even know how good you got it.
Carlos, Sarah, Luke, and Nick walk toward the door where Carley and Molly already are.
Carver: That's alright. You'll learn. Lambs to the slaughter, no shepherd to guide you. Those kids know exactly what I'm talking about.
Sarita and Luke try to get the kids to go with them, but they were already determined. Sarita tries to pull them toward the door, but they shrug her away.
Y/n: It's not your decision, Sarita.
Carver: They ain't afraid to look it in the eye. You go with that feeling ya got right now, kids. It's what makes you stronger than the rest of 'em.
Madison, the whole time, isn't saying anything. She looks up at the kids in fear, realizing she's about to die she tries to beg for Y/n's forgiveness. For her to be spared while Carlos walks away and leaving only Kenny, Rebecca, Y/n, and Clementine.
Madison: P-Please, I'm sorry for how I treated you. Y-You're a good person, you can't do this!
Y/n looks at Madison and kneels down beside her.
Y/n: Truth be told, I've already forgiven you.
Madison smiles, but then Y/n leans forward.
Y/n: But she hasn't.
He moves his head back and points to Clementine who is holding his baseball bat. Y/n stands up and starts to walk away as Madison tries to grab for his leg, but Clem swings down her baseball bat onto her hand, breaking it. Madison cries out and Y/n looks at Kenny and Rebecca.
Y/n: You can keep doing your own thing. We've got ours.
They both nod and before Carver can say anything else, Kenny smacks Carver in the face with the crowbar. He continues beating him as Y/n watches Clementine holds his bat. She stands over Madison with it raised high and using all of the force she can, she brings it down onto Madison's ribs, breaking it few as she starts trying to shield herself from it. She tries to roll over onto her side, but the pain from her broken leg is too much.
Clementine: What's the matter, Madison? I thought you'd like something like this... But I guess it's not so great when you're on the other side of it!
Madison: I-I'm sorry, I-
Clementine brings it down again, only this time it's onto her other knee & it completely shatters as Madison screams. Watching it all unfold, Y/n had wanted to be the person who'd kill Madison, but he knew Clem needed it even more than he did. But knowing that time is of the essence, he goes over and puts his hand on her shoulder just as she goes to swing again. Clem looks back at him.
Y/n: Let's wrap this up. We've got places to be.
She nods and Y/n points at the bat, setting all of it but the handle where Clem is gripping it at on fire. Madison looks up at the two one last time, and starts to hyperventilate as that fear which she was so used to giving to others finally swelled up in her.
Madison: No, please!
Clementine: Go to hell.
Using her full body weight and the flaming bat, Clementine caves in the front of Madison's skull and face with a single full hit. She was capable of this because Y/n increased the temperature of the flames just enough to help carve through her like a hot knife in butter. After they're done, he and Clem look back at the other two. They see Carver was on the ground with a similar wound.
Kenny: Let's go.
Rebecca takes Carver's pistol and Clem tosses Y/n's bat back to him. He catches it and burns off the blood from it before walking outside.
(Outside/Parking Lot)
A large herd of walkers approaches the store. There's so many walkers they're starting to kick up dust. The group is in between two large trucks hauling trucks while they get closer and closer to the store. Carley and Molly walk up to the kids.
Molly: Are you guys alright?
Y/n: Yeah, we're... fine.
Carley kneels down and hugs the two, and they hug her back.
Carley: I'm sorry about everything. Did you...
Clementine: Yeah.
Carley: Okay. That's fine.
