Y/N Pov.
Luke looks at us and I can see there's some panic on his face. He's trying to stay calm, but at this point there's no need for any of it.
Luke: You were with Nick, right? We gotta go find him.
Before we can say anything, Sarah blurts out about the man and woman who'd come inside the cabin.
Sarah: People were here. A man and a woman.
Carlos: What?!
Y/n: (Sigh) Here we go.
Rebecca: What did she say?
Sarah: Two people came to the cabin.
Rebecca: What?!
Sarah: They talked to them.
Rebecca turns to us.
Rebecca: And you just opened the door for them?!
I roll my eyes and Luke looks at Rebecca.
Luke: Calm down, Rebecca.
Rebecca: Calm down?! I am calm! You calm down!
Luke: We don't know anything yet.
I cross my arms and look at Rebecca as well as the others who seem so keen on blaming us for what happened. Everyone other than Luke that is.
Y/n: Of course we didn't. The guy opened the door and he walked in with his daughter.
Clementine: Yeah. We tried locking the door, but it was too late by then.
Sarah quickly looks at Carlos.
Sarah: They're telling the truth!
Carlos takes his eyes off of Sarah and now glances at us.
Carlos: Did they say their names? Did they say what their names were?
I look at Clementine.
Y/n: What were their names again?
As I ask Clem, I hear Rebecca talking to Alvin.
Rebecca: Maybe it wasn't them.
Alvin: You know damn well who it was.
Rebecca turns away from Alvin; like the others, she asks what their names were with a panicked tone in her voice. Again, I look at Clem as I can't exactly remember what the names of these two were. Not sure if it's because I've got bad memory, or if it's because it's like one of those times a person asks you something you know and your mind goes blank. Either way, my mind isn't keen on remembering right now.
Clementine: The woman said her name was Madison and said her father's name is George.
Y/n: Oh, yeah. She was being really creepy to me. Almost like she was ignoring Clementine, but wouldn't stop touching me. I thought Clementine was going to rip her hands off if I didn't stop her.
Clementine: That woman... There's gotta be something wrong with her.
I can tell Clem was starting to get angry again, so I gently grab one of her hands and look at her.
Y/n: Just breathe, Clem. It's fine. She's gone.
Clementine stands in front of me and looks up. She puts her hand on my cheek and stares into my eyes.
Clementine: But she just kept touching you, and you were clearly uncomfortable.
She moves her hand and grips her fist tightly.
Clementine: Just thinking about it makes me mad. I swear if she touches you again, I'm going to kill her.
I kiss Clem on the forehead.
Y/n: Thanks for the concern, but hopefully we won't have to meet her again.
Clementine: (Sigh) I hope not.
I look back to the others and they all seem scared, but more so now than before. Especially Rebecca. I'm guessing that she and Carver might have some history, even more so than the others. And looking at the anger on Alvin's face... I'm guessing it might have something to do with some not so nice things.
Rebecca: George and Madison?
Clementine: That's what she said.
Y/n: Yeah, and the man didn't say anything. So I'm guessing... That's their names.
Carlos: Look, kids, just...tell us what they looked like. What were they wearing? Did the man sound...different? How old were they?
I think back on it for a moment, trying to pin down their ages.
Y/n: Well the man seemed to be older guy, while his daughter seemed to be in her early twenties.
Alvin: How old would you guess for them? Just off the top of your head.
I think about it for a second.
Y/n: I think the man was maybe in his mid to late forties. And the girl seemed to be around twenty two like our friend Molly. I'd say that's probably the most accurate way to describe their...look, per say.
Clementine: And the man's voice was gravelly.
Carlos: Like how?
Clementine: I don't know. Kind of deep and scratchy.
Y/n: He sounded like an old sheriff in western movies. Not to mention his mustache that made him look like cop from the eighties.
Sarah looks up at Carlos.
Sarah: He talked about you, Dad. You're not going to hurt anyone, are you?
Luke looks at her and tries to calm her down.
Luke: Of course he won't, Sarah, alright? Your dad's the nicest man I know, which is why he's not gonna do anything crazy or...not nice. Right?
Carlos kneels down in front of Sarah and puts his hands on her shoulders.
Carlos: You know these are bad people, sweetie. They will do or say anything to hurt us.
Carlos stands back up and Luke asks us again about them.
Luke: Alright, what do you think? Did it seem like they'd be coming back?
However, before I can answer him Sarah tells Carlos about them seeing her picture that we had taken earlier. Now that I'm looking back on it, it was a stupid thing to do. But we didn't have the information we have now, so we can't exactly be blamed for our previous actions. Sarah hands a photo to Carlos.
Sarah: He saw a picture of me.
Carlos: A picture?! What were you doing taking pictures?!
He takes the picture from her hands as he yells, and Luke tries calming him down.
Luke: Carlos.
Carlos: What?!
Luke: You need to calm down, alright? You're scaring your daughter.
Clementine looks at Carlos.
Clementine: We took the picture.
Sarah: No. I asked her to. It's my fault.
Carlos looks at Sarah.
Carlos: Sarah?
He sighs and looks at the rest of the group.
Carlos: He was scouting. We got lucky. He wasn't expecting to find us. The kids must have surprised him. If they hadn't been there... Well, he was too smart to stick around. But he'll be back with the rest. We don't have much time.
Luke: He's right. Everyone pack up. We're movin' out.
Alvin leaves the kitchen and Rebecca walks after him.
Rebecca: Alvin, wait!
She soon leaves the kitchen as well.
Carlos: We have to leave now, sweetie, before he comes back with more bad guys. But it's gonna be okay. Let's just go get your things.
Clementine: What does he want?
Carlos: To bring us back. Kids, I don't know what he told you, but William Carver is a dangerous man. He's the leader of a camp not far from here, and he's very smart. We were lucky to escape.
I sigh and tip my hat up.
Y/n: Well, shit. Looks like you've got us caught up in your mess now, huh? Only eleven and already having to deal with adult business. What a pain in the ass.
Carlos: Look, I'm sorry to involve you both, but now that he's seen you, you'll be safer with us. We have to leave.
Carlos looks at us, but I'm not really concerned about him. I turn to Clem.
Y/n: What do you want to do? Going with these guys could be really dangerous, but I couldn't care less. If you want to go, we'll go. If not, then we'll leave.
Clementine looks down and thinks for a moment. She looks back up at me.
Clementine: I think we should go. It might be dangerous, but it is better than being out here alone. Plus, Carlos is right. These people, that woman, knows what we look like. They could come after us. Better to have safety in numbers. And maybe we'll find our people on the way.
Y/n: (Nods) Well then, it's settled.
I look at Luke and Carlos.
Y/n: We'll go with you.
Luke: Alright, we gotta find Nick on our way outta here. You know where he was, right?
We nod.
Luke: Okay. Everybody grab your stuff. Let's hit the road.
While the others go pack up their stuff and grab supplies they want to take, I go back and sit on the couch. Clementine joins me and puts her hand on my leg as she lays against me in silence. A silent feeling is in the air, and I can just tell that whatever is coming... It's not going to be good. It never is.
Clementine: Hey, are you okay?
I nod.
Y/n: Yeah. I'm just a little worried is all.
Clementine faintly laughs.
Clementine: I thought I was the one who's supposed to worry all the time. Come here.
I look at Clementine and she sits on my lap, putting both of her hands on my face. She rests her forehead against mine.
Clementine: I know you're worried about the others and me, but you don't have to. I've got your back and you've got mine. We'll be safe as long as we've got each other, right?
Y/n: (Sigh) Right. Thanks Clem.
Clementine: No problem, Cowboy.
I laugh and kiss her cheek before the sound of footsteps come down the stairs. She and I turn our heads to find the others carrying things as they're now ready to leave. I sigh and tilt up my hat.
Y/n: I guess it's time for us to get moving.
She hops up off my lap and stands up. Clementine has her backpack on and I've got everything I brought already with me. Luke looks at us and cracks a brief smile.
Luke: C'mon lovebirds, we've gotta go.
Clementine: Yeah, yeah, we know.
With that, we all leave the cabin for what will most likely be the final time ever.
(Forest/Sometime Later)
After leaving the cabin and walking through the forest on the lookout for the shed, Clem and I lead the group. Luke and the others follow us with a certain amount of caution on their faces; I'm not really able to blame them. They're, well, we're being chased by some psycho and his family. Talk about one hell of a sunday afternoon. Or Week day. I haven't exactly been keeping count accurately.
Luke: Now, you said it was just up here?
We nod to Luke.
Clementine: Yeah. Just a little ways.
Y/n: It shouldn't be too much further.
Luke passes us as he's dead set on finding the shed and Nick, who's hopefully still alive. After he gets ahead of us, we walk side by side and talk to one another as every good couple should. It is the best thing after all.
Clementine: So, what do you think about this?
Y/n: About what?
Clementine: Nick possibly being... Y'know?
I shrug and look at her.
Y/n: I have hope that he's still alive, but at the same time, when we left him he was very depressed. If the walkers didn't get him he might have "opted out," if you catch my drift.
Clementine: (Nods) I hope he didn't. God knows these guys could use a break. Especially after Pete.
I nod and walk closer to her, grabbing her hand. As we walk side by side, Rebecca comes walking up to us. We both look at her, expecting to get yelled at once again as that's all she's been doing; It's gotten to be something we expect whenever she opens her mouth around us. However, this time she actually...apologizes.
Rebecca: Hey, Clem, Y/n, sorry if I gave you guys some shit back there, I'm just a little on edge.
We look at her, slightly confused, but she continues.
Rebecca: I still don't like what you two did, sneaking around on us and taking advantage of my husband. But I know you were in a tough spot. I'll try to cut you guys some slack.
I sigh and look at her.
Y/n: It's alright, Rebecca. In the position you're in, I'd expect you to be having a hard time. Bringing a baby into the world while also being hunted down by that crazy guy. And to be completely honest, I'm sorry too.
Rebecca looks at me.
Y/n: I'm sorry for what I said the night we came into the house and for sneaking around, but I'm not sorry about stealing the supplies. We needed it.
Clementine: Yeah, what he said. It's all water under the bridge, now.
Rebecca looks forward as we walk and starts talking some more.
Rebecca: If it's not you two I'm yelling at lately, it's Alvin, and then I'm in real trouble.
Clementine: We can handle it. We're not little kids.
Rebecca chuckles.
Rebecca: I felt the same way when I was your age. My dad was always giving me shit, and I always thought he didn't know a damn thing.
Y/n: I always respected my dad, but not always other adults. Believe me, even when I was eight I was giving adults hell.
Rebecca: Sounds like you were a tough kid.
Y/n: Yeah, well, only the ones who deserved it. If I tried it to anyone else, Clem here would've smacked me on the head.
I laugh a little and look back at Clem; she rolls her eyes playfully.
Clementine: Yep. Totally.
Rebecca: I know you two did your best back there. You know, none of us would make it on our own. Sometimes it's hard knowing just how dependent I am on everyone. I'm not used to that. I'm not comfortable with that. I'm supposed to be a mom soon. Guess I need to work on my patience. Alvin and I still don't know what to call her, or him, if that man gets his wish, God help me. Any ideas?
Suddenly, as we get closer to the shed, we break off away from Rebecca as she calls out to us.
Rebecca: Kids?
Luke, Clem, and I approach the shed with caution. There are a few bodies of the dead fallen around it.
Y/n: It's here, Luke. This is where we were.
There are a few walkers beating on the door, so without much consideration for anything we take them out. Luke chops one in the back of the head while I throw a lance made of fire into one's skull. They both drop and one more comes from the side of the shed, but I shoot it in the head with a flame bullet.
Luke: Nick?!
Luke looks at us.
Luke: Get the door.
Clementine and I quickly go over to the door, but the handle's stuck or something. I look for anything we can do, because I don't want to blast the door down. Not with all the alcohol in here.
Clementine: The hinges on the door. Shoot them.
Y/n: Good idea.
I point my hands to the door hinges and with a few quick shots, the door falls down. As it hits the ground, we walk in and find Nick laying on the floor, not moving. Luke slowly walks in as we stay back, but after a moment Nick starts to move. At first I think he's a walker, but before I can shoot him, he speaks.
Nick: Hey, man... you got any aspirin?
Clementine and I smile as Luke walks over to him.
Luke: Nick, you asshole.
Luke helps Nick get up and gives him a hug for a brief moment before letting him go. Nick looks at him and tells him about Pete, but of course, he already knows because we had told him some time ago. Luke tells Nick about Carver's gang showing up and with that, we all leave the shed so we can get a move on. We start moving back into the deep forest, but Nick walks up to us as we do.
Nick: Hey, guys... I just wanted to say... thanks for not giving up on me.
We nod.
Clementine: We're sorry about Pete.
Y/n: Yeah, he was a good dude. Really cared about you.
Nick: Yeah, thanks...
Nick looks down with a sad expression on his face and falls behind toward the back of the group. Clementine and I stay walking beside one another. Luke looks at us and walks over. I can tell he's worried about Nick more so than anyone else here. Probably because they've been friends for a long time.
Luke: What happened back there in that cellar? He do something stupid? Look, you can tell me. I'm just looking out for him.
I sigh.
Y/n: He got drunk after Pete died and started smashing bottles. Scared us for a minute.
Luke: Goddamnit, Nick.
Clementine: But he did save our lives.
Y/n: That's true.
Luke: Really?
Y/n: Yeah, sort of. He got their attention so we could run.
Luke sighs.
Luke: I'm worried about that kid. Keep an eye on him for me, would you two? You sure you still wanna come with us? Look, I know we got off to a rough start. And I can't make any promises it won't get rougher. But we all know you both now. And we may not be perfect, but we look out for each other.
Y/n: (Shrug) I mean, you heard us back at the back at the cabin.
Clementine: We're with you guys, now.
Y/n: But don't think we've given up on looking for our friends.
Luke grins at us.
Luke: That's fine. We're glad to have you guys with us.
Clementine: Not everyone is.
Luke: Well they'll get there.
Y/n: You sure?
Luke: Hell, believe me it wasn't easy to get along with Carlos at first, but now look at us. Two peas in a pod.
I laugh.
Y/n: Yeah, you two are real chummy.
It feels good to laugh after everything that's happened over the last two days. I feel Clem rub my hand and I look at her. She asks me about the others and if I think we'll find them out here. I can tell she's looking for some reassurance, so of course, I give her my honest thoughts. Not really a sugar coated thought.
Clementine: Do you think we'll find the others out here?
Y/n: I think so. They're all capable on their own, and we've been with them long enough to know that they'd never leave one another to die. In fact, I bet they're looking for us right now.
Clementine: (Smiles) You're right. I bet they're somewhere nearby, we've just got to keep our eyes peeled and we'll find them. I've gotta say, I like my optimistic boyfriend over my sad one.
She playfully nudges me with her elbow and I grin.
Y/n: Yeah, well, I think I'm out of my funk now. Plus, I think it'd be pretty rude of me to take your role as the worrisome one in our relationship.
Clementine: Ha, ha. Y'know, if you weren't so handsome I'd probably be a little more annoyed.
Y/n: Don't forget charming, cool, and-
Before I can finish, she pokes my cheek.
Clementine: Hush.
I wrap my arm around her as we walk and Luke pulls out a map from his bag.
Luke: I figure we got about four or five days to reach those mountains. Now, if they're tracking us, we should be able to lose 'em up there.
Rebecca: Five days?
Alvin: It's gonna be okay, Bec.
Carlos: We have to keep moving now. It's our only choice.
(Bridge/Five Days Later)
After walking for a few days, we've managed to keep ahead of the group following us. We're a distance away from some bridge coming up, and Luke checks his map while Nick sits on some rocks with Rebecca doing the same. Clem's using a pair of binoculars to scope out the area we will be coming up on soon.
Y/n: What do you see, Clem?
Alvin: She better see something. We've been walking for a damn week.
Carlos: We've got to find some shelter.
As the others talk among themselves, Clementine tells us about the bridge I saw.
Clementine: Well, there's a bridge.
Y/n: Think we can cross it?
Clementine: I think so.
Y/n: That's good.
There's a pause, but Clem speaks again after a moment.
Clementine: There's a little house by the bridge.
Carlos: How big is it?
I look back at Carlos.
Y/n: Well, gee, Carlos... I'm pretty sure little means small, so you do the math.
I roll my eyes as Clem giggles.
Clementine: There's a lift or something.
Luke: Chair lift? Must be that ski resort.
Clementine takes the binoculars away from her face for a moment. She looks back at the others.
Clementine: I've never been skiing.
Y/n: Me neither.
Alvin: Bec and I went once.
Rebecca smiles.
Rebecca: It wasn't pretty.
Clementine goes back to looking through the binoculars and tells us about a building that's on the top of the mountain.
Clementine: There's a building on the mountain.
Y/n: What's it look like?
Clementine: It's big.
Luke: That sounds like a good place to spend the night.
Y/n: Agreed.
Clem puts her binoculars away and we both hop off of the rock. I pop my neck and adjust my necklaces hanging off my neck while also moving my hat around.
