After driving for a few hours, getting far away from the farm, the truck that the group is in finally starts to stutter to a stop as it runs empty. Sitting in the driver's seat is Kenny, whereas Lee is in the passenger seat while Katjaa is in the back with the kids. As the truck stops, everyone looks around as they stop in an area surrounded by shops, abandoned cars, etc.
Kenny: Well, this is as far as we're going.
Lee: Then it's far enough.
Y/n: Cool.
Everyone gets out of the truck and Y/n helps Clementine out, strapping his guitar over his back as he fixes his hat and necklace. Duck gets out with Katjaa and they all walk over to Kenny and Lee. They all start walking down the street together, passing through an alleyway, as Clem and Y/n stand by Lee. Cars are broken down on the sidewalk, shop windows are gone or shattered, and blood stains can be seen on the ground.
Y/n: Geez, this place must've got hit pretty bad.
Everyone walks out of the alley and spreads out, looking all around as Y/n stands by Clementine; Kenny stands with Katjaa & Duck. Lee looks up as he briefly stops in front of the pharmacy where he had once come to very often. Lee shakes his head as he looks at the old place, memories of a distant past flooding back.
Meanwhile, Clementine tugs on Y/n's tank top to get his attention and he looks at her. Her face showing signs of uncomfortableness as she looks around at the street and the things littering it.
Y/n: What's up?
Clementine: Doesn't this place feel a little creepy to you?
Y/n looks around himself and now that he's getting a fuller picture, even he's starting to get the creeps. He nods to her and moves closer, leaving just a little room between each other.
Y/n: Now that you mention it, this place is kind of creeping me out. Stay close to me, just in case.
She nods, but before they can say anything else, Duck's voice cuts through the silence as he calls out to the others while pointing down the street.
Duck: Look!
He gets everyone's attention and they all walk over to him as he points to what appears to be a person near a car in the nearby distance. Looking for any help he can, Kenny waves his arms to try to get their attention.
Kenny: Hey there! You friendly? Truck's run out of gas.
Slowly, the "person" looks up and instead of human... It's a walker that was just gnawing on a corpse, as flesh falls from its mouth. Everyone looks at it in shock as Kenny yells & the kids get closer to Lee.
Kenny: Fuck!
Unfortunately, his yelling drew more walkers towards them and walkers started to appear from everywhere, almost like they're coming out of thin air. Some crawled from up under the nearby truck, others walked out from alleys, and more came from down the street or stood up from any previous spots. As the walkers get closer to the group, they all realize they're almost surrounded by the dead entirely.
Katjaa: We're trapped!
Quickly, Y/n steps in front of Clementine and puts her in between him and Lee as he watches their backs. A walker tries to get close to them, but Y/n fires a swift stream of flames from his hand and torches it's head.
Y/n: (Mind) I know this isn't exactly the time for it, but I'll call that "Heat Haze."
As the walker falls, Y/n hears a scream and turns to find Duck is on the ground being attacked by a walker.
Duck: No, no!
Before Y/n can react, a gunshot rings out and the walker goes limp and collapses on Duck as he pushes it off and runs over to Kenny and Katjaa while covered in walker blood. Looking over at the place where the shot came from, Y/n and the others find a lady holding a gun as she keeps firing at the walkers. With her is an asian man in a baseball cap, he's standing near the entrance to the pharmacy as he looks at everyone. The woman is Carley and the man in the cap Glenn.
Glenn: Run!
Without a second thought, everyone runs toward the pharmacy. Carley fires a few more shots at the walkers and everyone runs into the pharmacy behind Glenn. As they all make it in, he closes and padlocks the metal gate in front of the building and joins the others inside as walkers pound on the gate. Inside the pharmacy there are three more survivors, an angry lady in a black tank top, a heavier set guy, and an old man. As they all make it in, Y/n and the others start to hear a lot of arguing as the angry lady sets in on Carley.
Angry Lady: We can't take risks like this!
Carley immediately comes to their defense.
Carley: And we can't just let people die, either.
Angry Lady: When I say "that door stays shut no matter what" I fucking mean it. We don't know who these people are; they could be dangerous!
The old man, a tall white guy with a big nose, also chimes in; yelling at Carley.
Old Man: Worse, they could've led 'em right to us!
Carley looks at the old man.
Carley: Where the hell is your humanity?! They would've died out there!
Old Man: Then we let 'em!
The angry woman is Lilly, the old man is her father, Larry, and at last is Doug, the heavy guy. Doug is looking out the window as Lee steps up getting closer to Lilly with his arms crossed, though still keeping distance.
Lee: Whoa, chill the fuck out, lady. We're just people trying to avoid those things, just like you.
Lilly: Don't come in here and swear at me!
Lee: I'll say whatever I want if you start threatening these people.
Carley keeps looking at Lilly, but speaks to the others.
Carley: You'll have to excuse her.
Lilly: The hell he, or anyone will. This is about survival, do you guys not see what's happening?
As the arguing goes on, Y/n looks over at Clementine to see if she's okay, but he notices she has her legs crossed. Confused, he gets her attention by tapping her arm and she looks at him as he whispers.
Y/n: (Whisper) Are you okay?
Clementine: (Whisper) I...I gotta pee.
Y/n: Uh, ask Lee. Maybe he'll know where the bathroom is.
Clementine tugs on Lee's shirt and looks up at him while he looks at her.
Lee: What is it?
Clementine: I...I have to pee.
Lee: Then just go.
Clementine lets go of his hand and looks at Y/n, not wanting to go off on her own to find the bathroom.
Clementine: Can you come with me to find the bathroom?
He nods and grabs her hand.
Y/n: Sure. Let's find it quickly, it's gotta be around here somewhere.
The two kids leave the adults as they walk around searching for the bathroom in the dim pharmacy. As they leave to go search for it, Glenn looks at Lilly and tries to appeal to her.
Glenn: They've got kids, Lilly.
She looks back at him.
Lilly: Those things outside don't care.
Angered, Kenny glares at Lilly.
Kenny: Maybe you should go join 'em then. You'll have something in common!
He points at her as Larry looks at her, too, but now he's on her case.
Larry: Goddamnit, Lilly, you have to control these people!
Lilly: Carley and Glenn just ran out there!
Larry: I don't give a flying fuck! We're in a warzone!
In the background, Clementine and Y/n approach the bathroom door after a minute of searching.
Y/n: Hey, here it is.
Clementine: Good.
She goes to turn the door knob, but it doesn't work, so she tries to pull it, but again nothing happens. After trying and not working, Clementine looks at Y/n once more.
Clementine: It's locked.
Y/n: Really?
Clementine: Well, I tried to turn the door knob, but it didn't work.
Y/n: Hm, we may have to ask Lee for help.
Clementine: (Nods) Good idea.
They look over at the others and find them arguing like before.
Y/n: Let's, uh, just give them a second. Just think dry thoughts until then.
Clementine nods.
Clementine: O-Okay.
Y/n sets his guitar down near the wall by the bathroom door as he stretches his arms. Over with the others, Lee tries to calm things down.
Lee: She's not wrong. They took a risk.
Lilly: Yes, we did.
Lee: And we appreciate it. Now let's settle down.
Everything seems to be okay, but not even a moment passes until the old man speaks up again.
Larry: Holy shit.
Larry turns his head and spots Duck sitting at the bar with his mom, Katjaa. She's trying to clean off all of the walker's blood that got on Duck from outside while looking over him, checking for a bite or any marks he may have gotten.
Larry: Son of a bitch, one of them is bitten!
Quickly, Lee comes to his defense as he looks over at Duck, then back to Larry.
Lee: He wasn't bitten.
Larry: Hell he wasn't!
Larry points at Lee before turning around, beginning to walk over to both Katjaa and Duck until Kenny steps in front of him. He glares at Larry as he balls up his fists.
Kenny: Over my dead body.
Larry: We'll dig one hole.
Overhearing the conversation, Katjaa calls out to them as she's leaned over Duck.
Katjaa: No! I'm cleaning him up! There's no bite! He's fine!
Katjaa hurriedly tries to wipe away the rest of the blood on Duck, searching for any bites, but Larry yells at everyone.
Larry: Don't you fucking people get it? We've already seen this happen. We let someone with a bite stay and... and we all end up bitten!
Kenny: Shut up!
Larry: We gotta throw him out, or smash his head in!
Katjaa: Kenny, stop him!
Looking for some kind of assistance, Kenny looks over to Lee.
Kenny: Lee, what do we do about this guy?
As Lee looks at the two, Lilly tries to get Larry to calm down to no avail.
Lilly: Dad, it's just a boy, it's-
Larry: Lilly, I'll handle this.
Lilly: But your heart, Dad. You need to calm down. We'll get this kid out of here.
He looks over to Kenny and crosses his arms, glaring at Larry.
Lee: We kick his ass.
Kenny: That's what I'm thinking.
Carley: Everyone, chill the fuck out!
Lilly: Nobody is doing anything.
The tension keeps rising as Larry looks at his daughter.
Larry: Shut up, Lilly!
He then turns his head to Carley.
Larry: And you, shut the fuck up.
He turns his attention back to the others, still angry.
Larry: They will find us and they will get in here, and none of this will fucking matter. But right now we're about to be trapped in here with one of those things!
Larry gets in Kenny's face as Kenny's confused about what he's saying.
Kenny: What the hell are you talking about?
Larry: He's bitten! That's how your turn!
Still able to hear everything they're saying, Katjaa pleads to Lee for help as she knows he has Kenny's back.
Katjaa: He's not bitten! Lee, stop this! It's upsetting him!
Larry: Oh, I'm "upsetting" him? Upsetting is getting eaten alive!
Lilly: Dad, we get it, it's a big deal.
Larry: Do you? You're not fucking acting like it!
Lee approaches Larry with his arms to his sides and the same glare from before still plastered on his face.
Lee: Sit down, or that's it.
Larry: You're gonna whoop me? You and what homo parade?
Kenny: This one.
Larry: Ha, that's good!
He looks past Kenny, at Duck.
Larry: Little boy! Before you eat your mommy, you can watch your dad get his nose broken.
Kenny: I'm gonna kill him, Kat! Just worry about Duck.
Before anything else can be said or can happen, Clementine calls out to Lee as she stands by Y/n in front of the bathroom. Clementine couldn't wait any longer and had to go, so she does like he suggested and called to Lee.
Clementine: Lee?
Lee: Yeah?
Clementine: There's someone in there.
Lee: It's just locked. Key's behind the counter. Probably.
Both she and Y/n hear Lee, so with no further questions they leave the bathroom door and head to the counter to look for it. Meanwhile Larry's still being the world's biggest asshole while trying to explain how he's "not the bad guy."
Larry: Hey, I'm not the bad guy here, I'm just looking out for my daughter!
Kenny: No, you're just the guy arguing for killing a kid!
Larry: He's covered in muck! She'll find the bite. Watch!
Kenny: She won't.
Larry: And if she does? The first thing he'll do is sink his teeth into his mom's face.
He looks at Lee.
Larry: Then once she's dead, he'll probably pounce on your kids! They'll turn fast and then they'll be four. And that, boy, is the ballgame.
Lee roles his eyes and at the same time, the kids find the keys to the bathroom.
Y/n: Bingo.
Clementine: Come on. I gotta go.
They run back over to the door as Lee keeps fighting for Duck.
Lee: He's a little boy! I think we can handle him.
Larry: A little boy?! He'll be an uncontrollable man-eater!
Kenny: It's not gonna happen!
Larry: It is and we're tossing him out now!
Finally fed up, Lee starts to shout at Larry.
Lee: No! You don't touch that boy, you don't touch anybody!
He gets in Larry's face as Y/n puts the key in the door, unlocking it. He steps back and allows Clem to open so she can go to the bathroom.
Lee: I've got a little girl and a little boy I'm trying to protect in here too. You want to get violent, you old fuck?! Well, come on! You better have a plan to kill me, though, because it's me, before anyone else in here!
Suddenly, Clementine screams as the bathroom door opens and a walker emerges from it, trying to attack her.
Larry: Jesus!
Lee: Kids!
Thinking quickly, Y/n pulls Clementine back away from the walkers as they try to get away from it. Lee tries to run over to her, but bumps into Lilly and falls to the ground, hitting his head. His vision is blurry, but he can vaguely see the walker crawling closer to them, so he tries his best to pick himself up. While Lee does so, Y/n looks at Clementine and pushes her to the side, into the next aisle, and away from the harm.
Unfortunately, he trips on a piece of the flooring that was cracked and the walker crawls on top of him while trying to get at his face. Lee starts to fully pick himself back up in order to save Y/n, while Y/n himself holds the walker by it's wrists as it tries to gnaw at him with all it's dead might.
Y/n: This is really getting old!
Clementine stands up and looks at Y/n, wanting to run over to save him, but Y/n sees her and shakes his head.
Y/n: Stay back!
She looks him in the eyes just as Lee stands up and Y/n nods to her. Clementine understands what he's going to do and steps back as Lee finally makes it off the ground & runs over to Y/n. However, just as gets there Y/n lights his hands up and everyone sees flames surrounding the walker's arms, burning them as he uses all his strength to kick it off of him and jump back up. Like with the others at first, everyone is surprised, but the walker gets back up and tries to go after Y/n.
Lee: Leave him alone, you son of a bitch!
He pulls the walker back, but it changes target and tries to bite Lee, shoving him against the wall with it's now scared arms as Lee pushes it back, trying not to get bit.
Lee: Get off!
Y/n raises his hand to use his "Fire gun," but like before a loud gunshot rings out and the walker falls to the floor. Y/n looks back and finds that once again, it was Carley who was quicker on the draw this time. As the walker hits the floor, Carley lowers her gun while Lee pants heavier than before with his hands on his knees.
Lee: Man...
Carley: You okay?
Lee: Just great, thanks.
Y/n walks over to Clementine and she hugs him, thankful he is safe like Lee.
Clementine: I'm so glad you're okay!
Y/n hugs her back.
Y/n: I'm okay, Clem.
They stop after a moment and Y/n looks at Lee.
Y/n: I'm sorry, Lee. I couldn't use my full power considering you guys were a little too close and we're in the pharmacy. I was going to help, but Carley was a little quicker than me.
Lee: (Nods) It's...
He pants a bit and gives a thumbs up, raising up after a moment.
Lee: ...It's okay.
Y/n goes to say something else, but Glenn cuts him off.
Glenn: Uh... guys?
Almost immediately walkers start to pound against the pharmacy, both the metal gate and the outside wall.
Lilly: (Whispering) Everybody down! Stay quiet!
Kenny and his family huddle together, Clementine hides behind Lee with Y/n, and everyone else kneels down behind the shelves. The walkers keep hitting the gate, trying to get it to open as the commotion can be heard.
Larry: (Whispering) They're gonna get in!
Kenny: (Whispering) Shut up.
Suddenly noises and gunfire are heard outside, attracting everyone's attention.
Lee: Is that the military?
Lilly: I don't know.
Glenn: Thank God for whatever it is.
Soon the banging stops as the walkers are drawn to the noise made by the gunfire, and not missing a beat, Larry stands from cover and marches across the room, yelling once again. A lesson he seems to not have learned is staying quiet, especially when noises draw walkers. Everyone else also stands up at this point as well.
Larry: We almost died because of this bitch and her itchy trigger finger! That was stupid! That was-
Larry groans and grabs his chest, falling to the floor.
Lilly: Dad!
Kenny: (Whispering) Shit.
Lilly runs over to Larry, who is lying on his side on the floor as Y/n once again stands in front of Clementine as they look at him along with the others.
Y/n: That's probably not good.
Lee: What's wrong with him?!
Lilly: It's his heart!
Larry: My pills...
Katjaa: Um... Nitroglycerin pills?
Lilly stands up.
Lilly: Yes. We're out. We've been trying to get into the pharmacy since we got here! Please, try to get in there! Behind the counter, where the pills are!
Everyone looks at Y/n, including Lee.
Lee: You can use your power, right? Get into the backroom?
Carley: Speaking of power, what was that?
All the new people start to look at Y/n.
Glenn: It's just like avatar or something.
Y/n sighs, once again quickly giving a run down of his powers, however he leaves out his weaknesses seeing as he doesn't trust Lilly or Larry. After a quick run down, he shakes his head.
Y/n: Sorry, but I'm not exactly great at turning myself into fire and moving around. I only turn parts of my body into it at a time to avoid being hit, even then it's difficult.
Lilly: Damn it! This is just great.
Y/n: Well sorry, I didn't know the world was ending otherwise I probably would've trained more.
Kenny: Could you cut through the pull down metal gate thing? The thing that's over the window into the backroom?
Y/n: I could, but don't these drug stores have alarms? I could set it off, and we've all already seen what sound does. I want to save my power as a last resort. If it comes to it, I'll use my power, but until then I think we should try to at least find the key first.
Everyone nods and Lee looks at Lilly. Despite her dad being a dick, he isn't going to let someone die over it. Even if they may deserve it.
Lee: We'll get in there somehow.
Lilly: Thank you so much. We need nitroglycerin pills. Please get in there. I'll keep an eye on my dad.
Kenny: Everyone else should get comfy and look for anything useful. We could be in here a while.
