Follows the episode A Dark Day
You were at the Cancer charity event with Dawson and Casey. Dawson ran inside the building there was a moment of calm before there was a loud noise and a huge shock wave. You were knocked off your feet. Burgess' niece and a doctor Holly Thelan's younger sister, were both by you. The two nine-year-olds didn't stand a chance against the wave. They tumbled, and the dust cloud cover the rest of their injures.
Dawson hadn't come out yet, you were sure she was trapped. Casey raced over to help the children while Burgess and Holly were on their way over. Burgess and Holly raced over both began to help the children. Casey dropped his phone back into his pocket and raced to your side. He began applying pressure to your wound. The rebar sticking in your side. Casey began to help keep you calm before passing you off to Raffety and another medic while Shay helped someone else.
Your eyes fluttered shut as Raffety helped the other EMT put you and Zoe, Burgess' niece into the back of the ambulance, the EMT drove off with Burgess beside her. While their partner was in the back keeping the two of you in back alive.
Burgess split off with her niece, while you were taken to meet Rhodes. He was religious in his assessment of you. You were sent to surgery, as you had internal bleeding which they couldn't locate as well as needing to remove the rebar. The surgery took a while, the rebar was removed and the bleed was located and fixed. You were sent to a recovery room while Rhodes moved to his next patient.
After a while, you crawled back into consciousness. Your brother was there, covered in dust and sweat. He had his eyes closed and was sleeping, Otis was also in the room, he was asleep on the couch. Your hand was held by your brother, you squeezed it still weak from the anaesthetic. His eyes shot open. "Hey," his voice was soft. You gave a weak smile. "How are you feeling?" You gave a tight smile. "I've been impaled." He laughed at your terrible joke. "Please don't do that again." You squeezed his hand again. "What get impaled? Yes, sir." He chuckled at that. Otis rolled over, "Hey little Severide is wake." You looked over at him and smiled. "I'm gonna tell the others." There was a pause as he began to fall asleep again. "In the morning." You smiled at him before turning back to your brother. He leaned forwards and kissed your forehead. "Get some sleep, I'm not going anywhere." Your eyes fluttered shut once more and your breathing evened out.
