"AHHHHH!" Astrid yelled from the bed, giving the baby one last push. "You can do this, m'lady" Hiccup said by her side, his hand being clutched tightly.

Then, a cry filled the room and Astrid sighed tiredly. Hiccup's eyes lit up happily and he went over to Valka who was cleaning up the baby.

"Here you go" Valka smiled at him, passing the crying baby over to him. Hiccup took Nuffink and grinned happily at his son's face with blonde hair like his mother.

He looked over to Astrid, expecting her to be smiling back at him, and frowning worriedly when her eyes were closes and she was unmoving.

"Astrid?" He breathed as people started rushing over to her, blocking his view of his wife. Someone had ushered him out of the room, but it was like he was in a trance.

He felt tears gather in his eyes as he remembered her passed out body. 'No, she can't be. She can't' Hiccup denied in his head as a tear fell down his cheek.

He plopped down at a bench outside the hut and stared blankly at nothing in particular. All his thoughts were for his wife who could be dead for all he knew.

Hiccup let out a choked sob and shut his eyes tightly to stop more tears from falling. He was so worried. So scared to lose her. So afraid that she would be gone, gone forever.

The only thing that got him out of his trance was his son's soft cries. Hiccup looks down at Nuffink and couldn't help but smile a little at his precious face.

"Shhh, shhh. It's okay, it's okay" He whispered to his baby, rocking him in his arms and holding him tighter. It was meant to be comforting Nuffink, but it ended up to be more of him trying to convince himself.

Nuffink quieted down after a few second and peacefully slept in his father's arms. Hiccup's thumb grazed his Nuffink's cheek and a tear fell down from his face.

Hiccup would do anything for his family. For Zephyr, for small Nuffink, for Astrid. He would do anything to make sure they would never get hurt and right now, not being able to do anything was killing him. He hated being so helpless.

The chief looked up at the night sky and sniffled softly. He wasn't much of a believer in the gods, but he couldn't think of anything else to do.

"I don't do this a lot, but now seems like a good time" He started, thinking of how much he loved Astrid and how weak she looked earlier.

"Whatever you do, just please don't- don't take her. Gods, not her. Please. She's- she's everything to me. If you took her away, I- i wouldn't know what to do!" Hiccup continued, tears rapidly rolling down his face now, and let out a soft sob.

Hiccup looked down at his son's face and remembered when his daughter was that small. He couldn't believe how much she'd grown, how much they'd all grown. Yet, he wouldn't change it for the world.

"I need her" Hiccup asserted, looking back up and desperately trying to look for a sign that someone was hearing this.

"I can't do this by myself. Our kids don't deserve to be without her. They need her, we all need her." He croaked, his voice breaking at the end.

"Please don't take Astrid away. I'll do anything. Please." Hiccup begged, searching the sky for anything and hanging his head, letting out another sob, when he didn't.

He looked down miserably at his son and lifted his arms to kiss Nuffink's forehead. Even if he was just a baby, he already reminded Hiccup of Astrid so much.

It broke Hiccup's heart thinking of how he could possibly survive without her. How he would only be able to see her eyes in his daughters and her hair in his son's. How he wouldn't ever hear her voice again, or see her smile...

"Son!" Valka suddenly opened the door and called out to him. Hiccup immediately stood up, his eyes widening in concern.

"Is she-?" He began, his voice shaking and preparing himself for bad news. Valka smiled widely, her cheeks slightly stained with tears, and shook her head.

"She's fine, Hiccup! Come!" Valka answered and Hiccup rushed inside the hut, a smile bursting on his face when he saw Astrid sitting up.

"Astrid!" Hiccup exclaimed joyfully, happy tears pouring out of his eyes as he quickly went over to her side.

"Hey" Astrid greeted him weakly, beaming up at her husband while he sat down beside her.

"Oh Thor, Astrid. I thought-" Hiccup said, getting cut off by her placing her hand on his cheek.

"It's fine, Hiccup. I'm right here" She comforted him and he leaned into her touch, sniffling softly.

"I was so scared, Astrid" He told her, his green eyes sparkling with so much tears and fear that she couldn't help but build up tears in her own.

"I'm not leaving you. I promise" She said to him and he laughed in relief, pressing his forehead to hers. They both leaned in to kiss each other when Nuffink cried in his father's arms.

The parents laughed and Astrid's eyes lit up even more when she saw Nuffink. "Hey, honey!" She cooed, taking the baby from Hiccup and grinning at her som.

Hiccup watched the two happily and wrapped an arm around his wife. "I love you so much" He muttered, pressing a kiss on the side of her head.

Astrid looked up at him with shinning eyes and grinned. "I love you too" She replied sincerely and they both kissed each other softly.

"ZEPHYR!" A voice called from outside, making the two pull away, and soon enough, a young Haddock came running inside the hut. Heather panted by the door way and gave the two an apologetic smile.

Zephyr froze when she saw Nuffink and gasped loudly in amazement. "Baby!" She blurted out and ran forward again to her family.

Hiccup and Astrid laughed as their daughter climbed onto Hiccup's lap and looked interestedly at her younger brother.

"Is this my baby brother?" She asked her mother who nodded at her. "This is Nuffink, Zeph" Astrid introduced the two siblings for the first time.

Nuffink reached out and grabbed his sister's pointed finger, causing Zephyr to smile widely. She leaned forward and kissed her brother's cheek.

"I love him" She proclaimed proudly to her two parents who's hearts melted at the cute gesture. Astrid chuckled and replied. "We love him too."

Hiccup hugged all three of them and sighed in content. He couldn't possibly be more happy than he was at that moment. His family wasn't as complete as he would want it to be, but he was very content with it.

He raised his head to the window and looked out at the stars. If it wasn't the gods who was keeping his family together, then he knew very well that the other member of his family did.

A star sparkled in the night sky and up in Valhalla, Stoick yelled excitedly. "HA, HA! I HAVE ANOTHER GRAND-BABY!"
