Carina's POV

Triplets 1 week old at home.

Maya stayed with me for the first week after the triplets came home from the hospital. We're working on creating a schedule for our family.

"Dio mio" I sat up in bed for the 4 time that night. Our babies were waking up every 2-3 hours crying for food.

"Lay back, I got this" Maya jumped right into action. She was use to this sleeping schedule a little bit more than I. I rarely slept on my shift because staying awake for 12h was easier than getting up and be ready to work immediately.

"Shhh. Mommy's here" I heard her voice over the baby monitor. "Hungry already? You know in this family we love food so much, ask your big sister, she can tell you all about Mamma's amazing skills in the kitchen. Unfortunately for a while you're on liquid diet, still made by Mamma tho" she giggled to herself.

I was breastfeeding during the day but also stored milk for the nights so Maya could bottle feed them as well. I was worried about not producing enough milk for them in the future.

I already started to notice less and less milk production over the last few days. I don't want to fail my babies.
A few minutes later all three of them were fast asleep. Maya said goodbye to them before joining me back in bed.

"Ti amo" I kissed her before drifting back to sleep for the next few hours.

Triplets 2 weeks old

I was all alone during the days with three newborns.

Maya maternity leave ended after the first week. Her routine changed as well as mine. She dropped off and picked up Emma from daycare every day meanwhile being the Fire Chief. Bailey stepped in once when Maya was called to a fire scene.

I was so thankful that we had our friends as support system around us.

There were days when I wished to have my Mamma and Fratello with me to help out. Andrea would have been an amazing Zio to our kids. My Mamma always dreamed about becoming a grandmother. I thought I was done graving the loss of opportunity when Emma joined our family but now with four kids the feelings came back even stronger. I had so many parenting questions unanswered and I have no one to ask them from.

"Bambini, cosa é successo? (what happened?) " I turned towards my kids who started to cry one by one in their rocking chairs. The hardest part at this point was to find out who started it originally and who joined in. After three diaper changes later I learnt Alessa started crying in the first place.

"Andiamo a mangare (Let's eat) " I said while picked up Amadeo and Alessa. We have agreed on raising them in a multilingual environment which meant I only spoke Italian around them while Maya sticked to English and Andy to Spanish. We even asked Emma about what language she would like to use around them, she said all of them telling us how happy she was about sharing three languages with her siblings.

"Mamma we're home" Emma came in happily later that afternoon. I only received a short hug before she joined her siblings in their usual play date.

Emma was amazing with them. She didn't care about any bodily fluids leaving their bodies. She just wanted to form a strong sibling bound with them. I could see the changes in their eyes when they see their big sister's face.

"How was your day Beautiful?" Maya grated me with a soft kiss

"Dirty diapers and loud crying here and there. Just the usual" I said with a smile.

"They are so cute together" Maya said looking at our kids in the middle of the living with our furry son in the corner sleeping.

"They truly are" no matter the struggle during the day if at the end of the day I'll always have a big, happy and healthy family to adore from the sofa.

Triplets 4 weeks old

It was time for the triplets one month check up. Therefore Maya took a personal day off to be with us.

"Alright, Deluca-Bishops" Her captain voice - more like chief voice - echoed through the living room. All 3 of the triplets were lined up by the door with three identical diper bag at the end of their seats. Emma was almost in a perfect line up position which she has learnt from her uncles and aunties at the station. Her green backpack was at her feet.

"I need a picture of this" I giggled knowing that behind all this was my anxious wife about to freak out. She needed everything in order to prevent it.

"Carina we don't ha...." she was stopped in mid sentence by a click sound of my phone. "Are you done?" she asked with an annoyed tone.

"Almost" I flashed my sweetest smile at her. "Now we can go" I said as I sent the pictures to Vic and Andy with a text 'Chief Deluca - Bishop off duty'

"We're two minutes behind sche... We're late" she was getting pissed. "Emma do you need help with getting in the car?" Maya gave her an option as usual.

"No, Mommy, I'm good" she smiled proudly.

"Va bene" I smiled at her and grabbed Alessa's seat with one diper bag.
Fifteen minutes later we arrived at the hospital.

"Mamma do I have to go?" Emma started to bargain in the door of the daycare.

"Yes Bambina but only for a few more weeks" I smiled knowing how thrilled she was about starting school with Ellis this fall.

"okay" with that she said goodbye to us and gave each sibling a kiss on the forehead.

"Good morning Deluca-Bishops" Jo greeted us in front of the pediatrician's office. She made it very clear that she wants to be included with each consultation. I couldn't dream of a better student then her, it was my pleasure to teach her all I knew about my field.

"Good morning, Dr. Wilson " Maya shook hands with her. My student understood the feelings behind the formal greeting.

"Chief" she said with a bright smile.

"Ciao Jo" I embraced her in a warm hug since she went beyond her field to support us the best she could.

"Aww they are absolutely beautiful" she took a closer look on our kids.

Andrea looked exactly like my Fratello at his age. Dark, brown hair with hazel eyes and tan skin.

Alessandra was me in every way possible. I was so happy about the fact that I could bring Maya's dream to life. She wanted another version of me and I gave her Alessa, she even had a beauty mark identical to my on the other side of her lips. She was a natural beauty.

Amadeo was like Maya. I got another version of my wife. Blonde hair, light blue eyes and pale skin. He didn't look like his siblings and that made him even more special. Crazy how genetics can diverse among siblings.

"Good morning! My name is Dr. Richardson and I'll be examining your triplets" the doctor introduced himself to us.

"Good morning." Maya shook his hand "I'm Chief Deluca-Bishop" with that she stepped aside so I can do the same.

"Ciao" I shook my colleague's hand. We have worked together on a few cases over the years.

"Who we have here? You must be Alessandra" He smiled at our little daughter.

"Sí" I nodded "He is Andrea and his brother Amadeo" I introduced the boys as well.

"I'd like to start with the little princess then, ladies first after all" He said genuinely but I knew Maya wasn't happy about that logic. In our household no privilege was given by gender.

About two hours later we came out with three happy and healthy children and now we had a paper stating that. Maya was relieved.
