Chapter 30

Carina's POV

Unfortunately Ellis wasn't in daycare today but I saw Leo with Allison playing on the rug.

"Bambina, I'm sorry Ellis isn't here today." her little lips started to curve down ready to cry "But do you see those kids? Leo and Allison are Mamma and Mommy's friend's kids. Let's ask them to play, no?" I tried to walk closer to them but Emma wouldn't move.

"Mamma I don't want to. I want to go home" her eyes was teary and she hold onto me with her whole body

"Do you want to know a secret?" I remembered something about Leo which could help Emma. She looked at me unsure of how to react "Leo loves dresses" I told her with a smile

"Really?" her eyes immediately widened with excitement

"Sí. I think he would like to talk about dresses with you" Now she started to walk with me.

Maya stayed behind letting us create some sort of a routine for next week. I looked back at her and she had tears in her eyes. Happy tears.

"Hi Leo. This is my daughter Emma. Can she play with you?" I introduce them after we checked in with the supervisor

"yeah" he looked at Emma with a smile "I like your shirt" he stated simply moving on. Today Emma wanted to match with Maya again so they both looked rather masculine today "I'm Leo and that's my sister Allison" he said kindly

"I'm Emma" my daughter replied quietly "I like your shirt too" Leo was wearing a pink unicorn shirt with a leggings and skirt over it. He was adorable and confident just like Emma.

"Do you want to play with us? We're doctors saving lives" he said proudly. Emma let go off my hand and sat down next to Allison.

"Bambina I have to go now. Mommy and I'll be back for lunch okay?" I tried to explain her the plan

"I stay here with Leo?" she asked with teary eyes

"Don't worry Emma. Daycare is fun" he said reaching for her hand. They looked at each other and than back at me still holding hands.

"Okay Mamma, Leo's safe" she said a little bit braver now. "I love you Mamma" she stood up and ran to Maya. "I love you too Mommy" she hugged her just like she did with me.

"We love you too Princess" Maya said wiping her tears trying her best to keep it together. I walked to her and interlocked our hands.

"Be good Piccola" I said to her before leaving the daycare.

"You okay, Bella?" I turned to Maya as soon as the door shut closed behind us

"No" she said wiping her tears.

"Bella she is safe and happy. Don't worry about her. I know it's hard to be without her for the first time since we've got her" I wrapped her in a tight hug "I might have an idea which could make you happier" I said with a huge grin

"Really?" she looked up at me with a small smile. I wiped away the last tear.

"Really. Go to my office and wait for me. I need to go and do rounds with Jo but I'll be back in an hour" I kissed her gently in the middle of the hallway

"Okay" she said as she started to walk towards my office "Don't be late" she used her Captain voice.

Ohh mio Dio if she thought she could demand in this situation...

"Al momento, signora, comando io. ( Actually, Ma'am, I'm in charge)" I said loud enough for her to hear it.

I knew she understood every word of it. She learnt my bedroom language faster than anything else.
