Carina's POV

I felt my phone vibrate in my back pocket.

Bella❤️🔥

I answered it with a smile.

"Ciao Bella. How is your..." I started but she cut me off

"Beautiful, meet me at the ER. I'm fine but please hurry" with that she ended the call.

The last time I received a call like this from her we became mothers overnight.

I stood in the middle of the ER entrance waiting for the AID CAR with my wife in it. I was anxious even tho she said she was fine. I noticed another AID CAR in the bay knowing that this meant more than two victims.

Both Maggie and Teddy were working on their patient. I saw two worried parents and little pink shoes on the gurney. I made a mental note to hug Emma tighter tonight.

Finally AID CAR 19 rolled in. I opened the door only to see a frightened little boy in my wife lap.

"Joel look she is the doctor I was telling you about." Maya stroked the boy's hair. "She is Dr. Carina DeLuca - Bishop, my wife" she introduced me

"Ciao Bambino" I smiled at him trying to calm him down. "Is it okay if I check you?" I asked almost whispering

"Hurt?" he looked at Maya

"No Bambino. It won't hurt" I answer him.

He looked at me then back to Maya than me again, deciding on his next move. Maya nodded and that was enough for him to reach out for me to hold him

"You're a really brave, Bambino" I praised him as I gladly accepted his request. I placed him on my hip and started to walk towards one of the trauma rooms.

"Anna" he saw the little girl on the gurney surrended by doctors

"Is she your sister, Joel?" I asked him calmly

"Yes" he looked into my eyes with his teary orbits "Is she okay?" he sounded hopeless

"I don't know, but as soon as I check you out we can find your parents, okay?" I suggested

"Yes, thank you" he buried his face into my neck.

Maya stood in the corner for the boy to be able to see her but not to be in my way during the examination.

"Okay Joel, I need to put this on your finger to see if your lungs has enough oxygen." I placed the pulse oximeter on his small finger. "See no hurt at all. Can you take a deep breath for me?" I asked as I auscultated his lungs.
"Good job Bambino" I praised him as I was done with his lungs. "I'm going to look for burns now, okay?" I wanted to make sure he was comfortable with every step.

"Yes. I need to remove my shirt, aren't I?" he was really smart

"Yes, you do. You're so smart" I stroked his cheek as he smiled at me.

After 10 minutes we were done with the physical examination. Luckily he was healthy and didn't need further medical attention.

"Let's go see your sister and parents" I addressed as I placed him down for the gurney.

He ran into Maya's arms.

"You were right. She is the nicest" he tried to whisper to her but I was able to hear it.

I smiled at my wife holding the little boy. Motherhood did suit her.

As we stepped out of the room I saw the little girl sitting up in bed being administered on IV fluids, oxygen mask on and had a pulse oximeter attached to her finger.

"Teddy" I said to my colleague as Maya keep walking towards the scared parents "How is she?" I asked

"She is stable for now. She is dehydrated and needs oxygen support for her lungs to heal. Honestly she was lucky that Ben could get her back." She said with a small smile. "She will recover fully within the next two weeks"

"Thanks" I walked over to the parents to gave an update on their son.

Maya sent the AID CAR back so we had time to hug Emma in the daycare and have a coffee together.

"Seeing you with that boy on your hip made me think..." she started talking almost whispering. We were sitting outside with the our coffee.

"I could say the same Bella" I reassured her with a smile

"Really?" she looked into my eyes with her wide blue orbits

"Sí" I placed a soft kiss on her lips "I love you and I love Emma so much but something is missing. We have so much love to give and it is still too much for only the three of us, well four of us with our little puppy" I smiled at the thought of our furball.

I have felt it for a while now, Emma was living with us almost 6 months now and being her mamma helped me realise I wanted a big family. I wanted her to experience what being a sibling means.

" Are you saying what I think you're saying? " she sounded so happy and relieved

"Let's try for a baby" I said it straight forward with a huge grin

"I love you so much" She teared up immediately

"Bella don't cry. If your not..." I said seriously

"I'm more then ready to have a little Carina running around" She smiled

"I will ask a friend if she would be willing to help us on the road but first we need to tell Emma. I want her to be okay with it too and we also need to think about a donor" Maya face changed. She blushed and looked at me.

"I already have an idea" she said shyly
"You do, Bella?" I was surprised that she thought that much about it already

"I thought about asking Emmett" she whispered

"Well you two do look alike that's for sure" I smiled remembering how everyone on the station saying they were siblings from another mother.

"Do you think he would do it?"

"I can ask him if it's okay with you" she looked down

"I would love it if our kid has your features as well." I kissed her

"As much as I want to stay here with you I have to get back to my other kids before they burn down the station" she packed my lips one last time before started jogging towards the station.

I couldn't believe we just had the baby talk and we actually agreed on it. I loved seeing Maya thriving in motherhood and I couldn't wait for Emma to be a big sister. There would be almost six years between the kids which was ideal for them to have the same interests as they grew older. Their bond could be just as tight as Andrea's and mine were.

I wanted to carry a child since I became an OB/GYN. People often asked me if I have seen numerous deliveries and know all of the complications why do I still want to carry and to be honest I've never know the answer to that question. I didn't feel any less of a mother to Emma just because I didn't carry her since love makes a family not DNA. It was just something I desired to do for a while and with Maya's job it was safer for me to carry as well.

I couldn't wait any longer I needed an answer. I pulled out my phone and called the only person I knew who could help us.

"Ciao Addison, can I ask you a favour?" I said as soon as she picked up.

A/N

Happy Friday guys!

Last night episode was amazing😍. I was laughing so hard at Maya's goofiness not to mention our favourite, hormonal Italian 😂

Stef was right. This is one of the best episodes in this season.

I've prewritten the chapters so these were  written way before they decided on the way of how Carina will get pregnant so there will be some similarities in the chapters to the show.
