Chapter 54

Carina's POV

As Emma called out for Maya my heart skipped a beat. I was nervous about our baby talk but since she brought it up by herself it must meant she wanted to be a big sister, right?

"Mamma can I ask you something?" she started looking at the floor

"Bambina look at me" I said waiting for her gaze to meet mine "There's nothing wrong about asking questions, okay?" I tried to encourage her

"Sí" she blushed

"What is your question Bambina" I smiled at her

"How come I don't have a sibling? Leo and Ellis have it even Pru has Ben's sons" she asked away

"Would you want to be a big sister?" I wanted to know her intentions before I answered her question

"Sí. You had Andrea and Mommy has Mason" I was surprised at mentioning Maya's brother since I've never heard the two of them talking about Maya's family "I want to be the best big sister" she said proudly

"Well Bambina we have talked about babies before we had you." I started to explain the situation "When we became your mommies we stopped talking about it since we were already mommies to the best little girl we could ask for" I stroked her cheek gently

"We also wanted you to be okay with the idea of having a sibling." Maya added with a smile "You know when a baby is born they cry and sleep a lot before you could be able to play with them" She continued

"I know Mommy. Scouts and Luna still do but I don't mind" She giggled

"You're going to be an amazing big sister, Princess" Maya looked at me with teary eyes. She was so happy and so was I

"Thank you for being brave enough to ask this question" I praised her

"So can I have a sibling, please?" she started to beg

"Bambina it takes time to have a sibling you know?" I laughed at her eagerness

"Ohh... How much time Mamma?" her smile faded a little

"Around a year Emma" I answered honestly since the first round might not be successful at all

"It's okay. I can wait" her smile grew bigger immediately

"Mommy can the baby sleep in my room?" she asked Maya.

I realised we would need a bigger house for more kids. She looked at me with the same realisation and I nodded

"Emma I think it's safe to say we outgrown this apartment. Ezra might like a nice garden and we definitely need more space and room." She answered her question

"We need to move?" she didn't seem too happy about the idea

"Yes Princess. But this means you can choose your own room and decorate it as well." she tried to make it more appalling for her

"Can we move closer to Ellis and Leo?" She asked seriously

"I think we can look for houses around their neighbourhood." I said knowing where they lived

"Okay. I'm finished with dinner. Can I go play with Ezra now?" she asked immediately dropping the topic

"Sí Bambina" I smiled at our five years old.

"That went well" Maya announced happily

"It did" I smiled at her "How come Emma knows about Mason?" I asked

"One day she started to ask about my family." she became tense again "I told her that my dad was like her Nonna which was enough for her to drop the tipic so she moved onto my mom. I explained her that she was at our wedding but we lost contact with her ever since. She also asked if I had siblings. I told her a few things about Mason but I left the homelessness and addiction out completely. " she had tears in her eyes.

" I'm sorry Bella. I did mean to bring up all the memories" I held her hand

" I still think about him every day. I just hope he is okay and happy. I haven't seen him in 4 years and sometimes I think about hiring a detective to find him, but I guess he knows where I work so there must be a reason why he never reached out for me" a single tear drop rolled down on her cheek

"Come her Bella" I signed her to sit in my lap.

She buried her face into my neck and sobbed quietly for a few minutes while I talked to her in my native language.

"Bambina it's bedtime" I said to our daughter who moved on to her toys. Of course Ezra was sleeping next to her, they became inseparable in such a short period of time.

"Okay Mamma." she put away her toys and walked towards me "Can Mommy help me get ready?" she looked up at me with a smile.

"Of course Bambina. I'll wait for you in your room" I kisses the top of her head as she started to ran towards Maya

"Mommy" she called out for her

"Yes Princess?" Maya scooped her up

"Can you help me with getting ready for the bed, please?" she was more than capable of showering alone but she really enjoyed playing in the tub with Maya. The often filled the entire room with bubbles due to their bubble wars.

"Always my girl" she smiled "To the bathroom and beyond" she started to ran towards the bathroom with Emma on her hip posing like Supergirl.

I giggled and went to the bedroom to find a bedtime story while they were playing instead of getting ready.

"Mamma" After almost half an hour later Emma ran into the room wrapped in her green towel. She jumped up to the bed and into my lap.

"Bambina, sei bagnata (you're wet)" I giggled as her wet body was pressed against my clothes

"Scusa" she giggled

Maya watched us with heart eyes. She was leaning against the doorframe completely fixated on our interact.

"Bella come here" I patted the bed next to us as I dressed Emma up into her PJ.

She laid back instead and opened her arms for us. I gladly accepted her request and rested my head on her chest. She immediately started to stroke my head. Emma climbed on the other side for the exact same treatment.

"c'era una volta... (once upon a time) "

Maya's POV

Half way through the story Emma fell asleep and Carina started to speak slower and slower.

"It's okay Beautiful." I put down the book "She is asleep. Go to sleep, I'll hold you" I kept stroking her hair occasionally messaging her scalp.

"Mmh ti amo così tanto (I love you so much)" she fell asleep almost immediately.

I looked at my beautiful girls sleep on my chest peacefully. I felt like I was the luckiest girl in the world. The 16 years old me would never believe that I have a wife, an amazing daughter and we were trying for our second child.

Diane was right.

I learnt how to let myself rest, sleep and love in this lifetime thanks to Carina and Emma.

They truly saved me. My wife once said she was not in a habit of fixing broken people but this is exactly what she did to me.

"I'm so grateful for you, my beautiful girls" I placed a soft kiss on their heads before falling asleep peacefully.

First of all, I haven't recovered from last night tbh 😂

Dani's interview was amazing. I was  screaming and smiling through it all. She was so genuine and happy through it all.

The episode was so cute. Maya's and Carina's scenes was amazing and cute. Jack scene's broke my heart I can't wait to see where they're going with it.

I also freaked out about Dani's twitter GIF. Has anyone watched Xena, the Princess warrior? I'm convinced that Dani used that GIF on purpose. I screamed when I saw it. I practically grew up watching that show and let me tell ya Xena was probably one of my first celebrity crush.
