Carina's POV
It was the day of our vacation to LA. We decided to keep the real reason to ourselves since we counted with the possibility that the first round wouldn't be successful.
Of course Emmett and Travis knew the occasion of our trip since Emmett donated his sperm beforehand. The sample was already shipped to LA for further testing.
We were standing in Andy's living room. She gladly accepted the role of the best auntie for a whole week, she even agreed on taking care of Ezra as well. Even tho they had a great bond I was worried about leaving Emma alone for the first time.
"Mamma don't cry" Emma hugged me "Tia Andy will take care of me." she didn't mind the extra fun time with her
"Andy I want facetime every day before bed time and call us right away if something happens. Here is your ID card for the daycare. Ezra's belongings are in his bag. He is allergic to chicken so only use his hypoallergenic food." I gave her the card which was specially made for her.
"Car, everything will be fine" Maya tried to calm me down a little
"I know" I looked at the ground
"Okay Princess we need to go to the airport before your Mamma changes her mind" she hugged her tight one last time. "Thanks Andy you're the best" she gave a small hug to her best friend
"Anytime" She winked at Emma
"Thanks Andy" I said and kneeled down in front of Emma "Be a good girl for Tia Andy. If you miss us just ask for Andy's phone we will always pick up, okay?" I said to her
"Sí Mamma" she wrapped her little hands around my neck.
The ride to the airport was silent. I was trying to fight my tears. It was the first time leaving my daughter in anybody else's care other than her Mommy's. I knew she needed independence and she needed to cope without us but I couldn't help but be sad.
"I know it's hard Beautiful, but she is safe with her Tia" Maya placed her free hand on my leg.
I started to sob uncontrollably.
"Shh Car. It's okay. It's only for a few days. Just remember why we're doing this." she drew circles on my leg gently while her eyes were on the road.
"I-I know" that's all I managed to say.
An hour later we found our seats on the plane and wait for the plane to took off. I sent a message to Addison saying we'll arrive in 3 hours if there won't be any complication.
"How are you Beautiful?" Maya asked with a soft smile
"Nervous" I admitted
"Me too, but we have each other. You said Addison and her husband are the best specialists in the States so I trust them." She spoke her truth
"They're really amazing. I hope the first round will work and we wouldn't need to do this any time soon again" I picked out the best words I could possibly find to explain my fears
"Any time soon?" Maya asked back
"Well you said you want three kids if I remember right" I smirked knowing I want more than two as well.
"Yeah I did" her face dropped a little
"What's wrong Bella?" I stroked her cheek
"What if we have more than two or three and I wouldn't be able to handle them all at once?" she looked at the ground
"Bella look at me" I placed two fingers under her chin and turned her face towards me "You're the best Mommy to Emma and I'm sure you will be the best Mommy for our future kids as well. We will love them for themselves and that's what really matters. Besides look at our friends. You manage to run your fire house with 5 kids" I laughed at the thought of her firefighters. They truly acted like children sometimes.
"I love you so much" she smiled at me finally. "Let's go and make a baby" she said it a little bit louder than it was necessary which earned confused looks from the elderly couple on our left side.
I turned bright red and mouthed a sorry while Maya bursted out in giggles. She was my problematic, sweet child for sure.
"Can we go through the plan one more time?" Maya asked sweetly. Of course she wanted to know every little detail from the minute we landed till we went back home to our daughter.
"So about a month ago I started to take ovulation-inducing medications which help producing multiple eggs during the same cycle." I started to explain the whole method to her once again
"Yeah" she nodded
"We are agreed on going with IUI first which is Intrauterine insemination. This means that the sperm that have been washed and concentrated are placed directly in my uterus around the time my ovary releases one or more eggs to be fertilized." I tried to break down the medical terms
" And we also have a great chance for a multiple pregnancy, right? "
" Well it's higher than with IVF and normal insemination yes, but only because I took the ovulation-inducing medications because more eggs mean more chances" I answered calmly
"Okay"
"So after we land we will go to Seaside Health and Wellness where Addison and Jake will discuss the test results of the sperm. If everything is alright we can start the procedure. First they will insert a caterer into my uterus and inject the sperm directly into it. It's recommended to rest for a day but other than that we are free to go. " I said with a smile
" What about the complications? " I loved how protective she was with me
" Spotting my occur due to the insertion of the cater but other than that nothing." I kissed her cheek" It will be alright Bella" exactly going through the procedure step by step calmed me down a little. Of course due to me being an OB/GYN I knew more about this procedure but performing it and under going it was two different things
"Thank you Car." she kissed me "Do you want to watch a movie together and try to relax a bit?" she offered
"Sí Bella. Come here" I patted my shoulder signing her to lean her head on it "What genre?" I asked knowing the answer already
"Romance" She giggled
"You're such a softy, Bella" I kissed the top of her head
"No I'm not" she pouted back at me
"Exactly" I giggled and kissed her pouty lips

So as I've mentioned before somehow my story and the actual series went with the same method of insemination so I make that part a little bit more detailed about the procedure.
Fair warning I haven't learnt about OBGYN stuff yet so the facts are from researches and some of my own knowledge. Hope you like medical stuff too.
