Chapter 13

Maya's POV

As soon as I arrived at the station I went to change into my uniform and waited for the rest of the team to arrive.

I had no idea if Carina will come by with Emma but I needed to tell my family. I wasn't waiting for them as their Captain, I was waiting as there friend, sister. I even messaged Andy to come here before her shift at 23.

Vic and Travis arrived first with Theo and Emmett. At this point of their relationship I wasn't surprised just like they weren't when Carina spent the day here. Ben, Jack, Robert arrived after them. We were talking and waiting for Andy.

"Sorry, Maya. I slept in." she came in running and hugging me

"You're lucky I'm not your Captain anymore" I joked as I hugged her tight "Okay, Nineteen listen up! Actually I'm joking. I wanted to talk to my family" After additional awws later I continued "So I would like to start from the beginning, as you know we were going to have a baby with Carina, like we told you. I also convinced her to apply for a foster parents licence in case something wouldn't go as we planned, you know how life is." they were clapping and smiling at my statement" We actually got it last month but we didn't think we would need it, at least not this soon... Yesterday you guys met with Emma and I think Andy you have noticed her at the five-alarm fire before that. So... Umm... Carina and I are fostering her and if everything goes well than we'll adopt her in the future." I looked at the ground waiting for their reactions

" Ohh my god come here mommy DeLuca-Bishop " Vic said as she embraced me in a hug

" I love you too but no more mommy jokes. We have to use the parent jokes on Ben" I said half joking

After a ton of hugges and congratulations from the team Andy walked to me with tears in her eyes.

"I'm a tia now. I cannot believe it" she hugged me tighter than ever. I swear I heard little sobs as well "Tell us everything, what is she like?"

" She is so smart and brave" I started to get emotional " She is so small and yet she has been through so much already. She is bilingual so she specifically speaks Italian with Carina and when I'm around she tries to use only English"

" You're in trouble with your Italian ladies" they all laughed at Andy's comment

"She is obsessed with the fire trucks and the paramedics. We went shopping with her and she chose a fire truck and a little medical kit. I gave her a Teddy from the station and now she calls it Captain, it's so adorable." a single happy tear escaped " I wanted to tell you guys because she might came in today with Carina and I don't want to put more pressure on her. I want you all to meet her but not all at once. She is a little afraid of the crowded places. Just be patient and don't hurt my Princess."

" Ohh Maya's going soft again" Travis said with a chuckle

" Again?" I was so confused

" You went soft with your first Italian a few years ago and now we can see it happening all over again. " Vic said with a meaningful smile

" Anyways" I didn't want to talk more about my feelings "I'm so thankful for your support, guys. I'm happy that our family is still as strong as before."

"Group hug!" Andy screamed

We hugged each other in the middle of the beanery as we heard

AID CAR 19.....

Two hours and a minor apartment fire later the team was back in the barn.

"Greate job out there! Nineteen!" I shouted which was followed by the others. " For the rest of the shift I want everyone on chores since B shift didn't bother with it. I'll be in my office if anyone needs anything just come and get me."
