Chapter 60

Emma's POV

"I went to the Zoo with Tia, Auntie Vic and Uncle Travis!" I had so much things to tell them about my day. I was so happy that they called me. It must meant that they missed me as well, right?

"That sounds amazing Bambina" Mamma moved her hand towards her eye

"Mamma are you crying?" I tilted my head in order to see more of her face

"Yeah. Sorry Piccola, I just miss you so much." she admitted wiping away another tear.

"I miss you too. I even cried a little in the morning but than Tia made me happy. Just like Mommy makes you happy." I tried to make her feel better
Mommy wrapped her in her arms and kissed her cheek. "Did your aunties and uncle behave in the Zoo?" Mommy asked laughing

"I held Uncle Travis hand in order to stop him from getting lost" I was proud to take care of him "And Tia did the same with Auntie Vic"

"You're so sweet to help Travis, Princess. I'm proud of you" Mamma was smiling too. "Have you seen the bears?" of course Mommy knew what my favourite animal was

"I have. But they were sleeping all they long. Just like the Koalas." I remembered Uncle Travis word from the car ride. "Mommy what does being high means?"

Their eyes grew wider.

"What?" they asked at the same time.

"Uncle Travis said that Koalas sleep that much because they are high on eucalyptus" I told them the whole sentence.

"Bambina it's a side affect of some medication. Eucalyptus however does not contain anything like that in fact the eucalyptus has a part which does not let the koalas to absorb enough food therefore they're sleepy all day." Mamma always explained me science easily.

" Okay I think Tia said something like that too" I was just curious of my mommies' answer.

We talked about an hour before I started to get sleepy.

"Princess can you bring the phone to your Tia? And eat that slice of pizza for Mamma okay?" I almost forgot that Tia placed the slice in front of me half an hour ago.

"Sí" I walked into Tia's room "Tia Mommy wants you" I gave her the phone and laid down on the couch.

Andy's POV

"What on earth happened in the car?!" Maya was a little angry and I had a feeling of why. I'm going to kill Travis.

"I'm sorry Maya. Travis was being... Travis. I tried to save the situation I swear." I hoped she would believe me.

"You're lucky that your niece said the same." She was still angry

"You guys may want to know that Emma knows how to unbuckle her seat belt on her own." I informed the parents for safety reasons

"How do you know?" Carina asked back

"I was struggling with that stupid thing and she laughed at me, than she reached down and pressed the big red button easily. She said she saw how you did it for her and she just copied the motion." I smiled at thought of her genius mind

"Wow she is so smart" Maya looked at Carina with wide eyes

"We're in so much trouble for finding a kindergarten for her, aren't we?" Carina answered honestly

"I'm not even sure she needs it. She can already read perfectly and write as well" She announced like it was nothing

"I'm sorry what?" I looked at them

"She can read perfectly because her Nonna decide no more bedtime story for a 4 years old." my face dropped. She was a small child and her Nonna didn't even gave her love.

"When are you coming home?" I couldn't talk more about Emma's past without anger so I decided to change the subject

"We'll go home with the earliest flight" Maya said looking at Carina for reassurance. Something was happening and I couldn't wait to find out.

"Sí" she opened up her Ipad and searched for the flight schedule "We will be home around noon." she announced after a few minutes.

"Dinner at our favourite place?" I suggested with a smile

" Kaminskis" they said in union with a soft giggle.

"It's settled then"

"They wanted to see Emma since last time we went there she was asleep" Carina said with a soft smile.

"Do I need to prepare Emma for the dinner?" I remembered her anxiety with new places

"Yeah, thanks Andy!" Maya smiled at me "Tell her that we'll have a nice lunch at the Polish restaurant so she can get all the perogies she can handle, that will do the trick" she was so proud of her daughter's food obsession

"She is such a little Maya when it's about food" I looked at Carina laughing

"Sí" she smiled

"You know she is just like you Carina. Whenever she explains something to us she turns into a little Carina. It's really hard to keep up with her speech not to mention the distracting non-verbal communication of hers. It's impossible to focus on anything else but her cute Italian hands " I told her honestly what everybody was saying about her little girl

" You think so? " she definitely had tears in her eyes

" I know so! " I heard Emma's voice from the next room asking for playing with the doll house" Ohh do you hear that? " I said loudly

" What? " Maya was totally oblivious as usual

" It's a four alar fire and I need my best Lieutenant"I smiled "Lieutenant DeLuca - Bishop!" I called out her name "Be safe on the way back home. I know they say plane is the safest option for travelling but we all know what can happen during a flight so..."

"We'll be safe. Now go save those dolls from the huge fire" Maya smiled

"Thank you" with that she ended the call

"Yes Captain!" Emma stood in the hallway with her helmet on smiling proudly. I couldn't help but snap a picture of her. She was truly determinant to earn her real helmet one day.
