Carina's POV

The first two months of the pregnancy was hard. I had morning sickness, dizziness and I was fatigue constantly.

Since I was at 8 weeks our first ultrasound appointment was today.
We drop Emma off at daycare as usual. Alongside with everything else it's going to change soon. I have asked around and Meredith gave me Ellis's teacher contact so she can test if Emma was qualified to skip grades and be in Ellis's class.

We were both excited and sad as the reality hit us. Our sweet daughter was growing up faster than we would like it. Soon we'll make our first picture in front of our apartment with her first backpack on.

"I'm so nervous" Maya's voice brought me back to reality. She was holding my hand with her shaky, wet hands.

"Me too" I said softly "Jo is really good with the ultrasound but remember we might not find the heart beat since I'm only at  8weeks" I wanted her to know all the possible outcomes of the examination. Of course I was hoping for a heart beat but I knew it might not happen.

"I know. I just want them to be healthy that's all." she flashed a weak smile at me.

"I know Bella" I squeezed her hand once more as I knocked on the door.

"Ahh DeLuca-Bishops" Jo greeted us with a hug. "Carina please disrobe from the waist below, behind the curtains. You'll find a gown you can wear during the examination" she told me.

I specifically asked her to treat me as a regular patient because she needed to learn and Maya needed to understand everything.

"Thank you, Jo" I smiled at her. She was amazing with patients and now I had a genuine idea why.

"So since it's your first ultrasound I would like to perform a vaginal ultrasound if it's okay with you." she was telling me the procedure and asked for my consent in one sentence.

"Of course" I answered from behind the curtains.

"Maya, do you have any questions?" Jo tried to engage her in the conversation.

"What are the chances for hearing a heart beat?" my wife asked shyly.

"Since the pregnancy is only 8 weeks ahead I would say 60-70%" Jo said calmly.

I walked out of the curtains and sat on the table, Maya made her way towards my head holding my hand firmly as an act of support.

"Are you ready?" Jo asked with a smile.

I looked at Maya who nodded. "Yes" I answered

"You're going to feel some pressure, please try to relax" No matter how many times I've performed this procedure being the other side of the ultrasound machine made it so much different.

I held Maya's hand tighter as Jo started to search for the foetus on the monitor. She turned it towards herself.

Never a good sign.

"Jo, what is it! Let me see!" I was on the edge of crying.

"It's okay... I just needed to double check" she said with shock on her face.

"What's happening?" Maya was anxious too. Her facial expressions changed.

"I needed to double check something....well in your case..." Jo was hesitant to continue.

"Jo, tell us what's on the screen" Maya ordered in her Captain voice.

Jo turned the monitor towards me. I started to cry immediately.

"Someone tell me what's happening. I only see tha ant war on the screen" Maya said seriously. I nodded and let Jo to explain the situation.

"Maya, look, do you see this sack?" Jo showed her a tiny fetus on the screen.

"Yes" Maya said immediately.

"That's your baby" Jo said to her. I was still unable to form a sentence due to crying.

"Than what are those" Maya pointed to the two more similar spots of the monitor.

"Those are your babies too" Jo finally said with a smile.

Maya's face turned even whiter than before. She immediately sat down to the chair next to me.

"Maya, are you okay?" I knew she was trying to process everything.

"Carina there are 3 babies on that picture" She was thinking out loud "We already have one. That means we're going to be moms of 4. I said no more than 3 kids."

"We can talk about options..." Jo started to answer to Maya's loud thoughts.

"No" we both said at the same time.

"Are you sure?" Jo asked quietly.

"I don't want to hear about reducing the fetuses until it's medically adviced due to risking Carina's life" Maya explained it simply.

"Okay I understand your point. I won't mention it until it's not medically advised." Jo said with a small smile. "Are you ready to search for heartbeats?" her smile grew wider.

Maya's face was less pale but I still wanted to know her answer. I reached out for her hand which was immediately interlocked with mine.

"Yes, sorry" she mumbled to me.

"I love you" I said with a smile, knowing she just needed some time to process the information.

"Okay let's see" Jo started to search for it.

After a few seconds the room was filled with a loud heartbeat. "This is Baby A" I started to cry again and as I looked away from the monitor to see my wife reaction. I've seen tears rolling down her face as well.

She was able to find all 3 of the heartbeats. Maya and I were an emotional mess after we listened to our three miracles.

"How many photos do you want?" Jo asked with a huge grin.

"Probably a dozen" Maya laughed and we all joined in.

A/N

Happy Friday guys!

💥BABY BUMM💥

Of course I needed to challenge Maya. I love to see how she faces new challenges so why not give them 3 infants all at once, right?

Will I dare to make some drama about the pregnancy? Who knows.🤷‍♂️

Also drop some baby names if you would like yours in the story - fun fact I'm terribly with naming my characters so literally any suggestion is welcomed.
