Screams for help rang loudly in my ears as I rode along the desecrated path in a slow trot, trying to pinpoint their locations.

There was so much blood, splattered on houses. The grey stone was stained crimson, and the air practically reeked of iron. It burned my nose like acid just to inhale.

I slid off the horse and hissed as my ribs shifted uncomfortably. The bag I received from Squad Four, pushed against my back roughly, making the bandages around my neck pull on the rougher skin and my teeth grit in restraint.

I looked around, but smoke obscured my vision.

Then, I tied the horse up to a nearby bolder and tried to take a more measured look.

Those that were alive and had use of their legs were running in pure hysteria, their minds completely overwhelmed - if not, flooded by it.

"If you can hear me, make way to the capital, and stay to the far left of the city! I'm a trained medic for the Scouting Regiment and I am here to help you! If you're injured and can speak, call out to me! If you can't, just hold on and I'll locate you soon!" I shouted clearly and loudly. Those that were panicking remained that way, but I'd get through to them eventually.

For now, my focus was on the truly injured. Those that were incapacitated in some way.

As I was looking for someone in need, a small body crashed into mine, and when I spun around I was met with a little blonde haired girl with blue eyes, wearing a lacy turquoise and white dress.

Blood was splattered all over her person, and her eyes were filled with a distance I knew all too well.

Tear streaks were present on her cheeks like white lines of chalk on a chalkboard.

Slowly, I knelt down and took her by the shoulders with tentative fingers.

"Hey there sweetie, I'm here to help. Can you understand me?" I asked softly.

She nodded numbly.

Poor girl.

"Okay, good. Now, I know you're scared, but I need your help. What's your name, little one? Can you tell me?" Her empty eyes met mine and she just stood in place for a moment.

"Yvette." She whispered. Her voice was so soft that I barely caught it.

"Good girl, Yvette. My name's Olivia. Are you hurt?" I glanced her over, but none of the blood on her body appeared to be her own.

There were scrapes on her hands and knees, but there didn't seem to be any major injuries... Physically at least.

Mentally, I had no doubt she was suffering.

I waited for her response, and soon, she shook her head for me.

"Okay, well you have a couple scrapes. I can help, but I need you to do something for me first." I furrowed my brows in a slightly concerned way as she simply stared back at me.

Carefully, I continued.

"We're going to play a big game of hide-and-seek. There will be a lot of scary things that you'll see along the way, but we need to find our hiding friends and family. Can you help, and be my seeker?" I looked around again, feeling pressured by time to rush this conversation; even if I didn't want to.

The last thing I wanted to do was put this girl through more, but I needed help that adults couldn't provide currently.

The adults here were too panicked to think straight. Even if they were, this was Wall Sina, they only really cared for themselves.
