Lectures.

They're so boring.

You'd think Levi would make it better, but he sounded so dead all the time that this small lecture seemed to drag on for an eternity.

Meanwhile, Hanji was practically bursting at the seams with excitement. It was clear she wanted to get started with Eren as soon as possible.

I had apologized to the teen just moments prior to this whole moment. He forgave me but seemed confused as to why I even apologized in the first place.

Apparently, he didn't mind me leaving him to finish feeding the horses. He said he understood the stress I was under and wished for my well being all with a bright and happy smile.

Eren reminded me of Isabel more than I could ever put into words. He was very motivated and rash most of the time, but also kind and helpful to us.

"Olivia, your job is to prepare for any medical emergencies. If anything happens, you need have your kit ready." Levi said turning and pointing at me with a piece of chalk.

"Yes, Captain." I responded to him with a bright smile. He went back to drawing on the board, a small tinge of pink on his ears.

Hanji fidgeted close by on a podium with a crazy look in her eyes as Levi eyed Eren judgmentally.

"There is good news. We may be able to stop you without killing you." He said slightly sarcastically.

"Sir?" Eren asked in confusion, looking at Levi as he turned to face him tiredly.

Now, things were getting interesting.

"In your Titan form. We may have some middle ground after all. A fail-safe if you will," Levi turned to draw on the board and everyone shifted their focus. "The method I've come up with will only leave you mutilated. Well, at least in theory. Depends on individual skill. Essentially, we cut the entire nape from the body with you inside."

Interesting theory, but Levi's mind was just as sharp as anyone else's. I wasn't about to judge, but I was about to ask questions.

"No need for the pause Levi. Continue." I urged, genuinely interested. Everyone else on the Levi Squad seemed reluctant to be despondent on the issue but made no comment on the idea.

"Your arms and legs will be severed halfway down in the process, but you'll survive," Levi circled his drawing then looked back to Eren. "As a matter of fact, they'll probably just grow back, lizard-style. Creepy little bastard."

I stifled a laugh behind my hand and looked away to prevent any laughter from slipping past my lips.

I had to hand it to Levi. If you want dry humor, talk to him. He will provide it freely.

"Hold on a sec. I'm not really sure how they do it. I mean, they might but maybe it's not worth the risk that they won't." My eyes snapped up to Eren as he spoke and shook his head, all laughter and lightheadedness was replaced by intense seriousness.

Levi's eyes narrowed dangerously as he zeroed in on Eren.

"Oh, I see. You're only up for this if there's no risk involved whatsoever." Levi turned his body towards Eren more, making the younger boy tense up with fear and panic.

"No..."

"Then be prepared. We're in the same boat. If you go on a rampage you could kill us. So we're even." Levi stated adamantly, clearly being short tempered with our charge.

"Yes, sir. Seems perfectly fair to me." Eren replied dejectedly. Immediately I took a few steps forward and slapped a hand down on Eren's shoulder.

"Don't be so gloomy. The Captain is looking out for you too. It's better to lose a limb or two rather than your life. His theory makes sense, I was there in Trost around the time when we lost you. Your arm and leg grew back so it makes sense that they can regenerate regularly." I chirped calmly, looking down into his eyes. Slowly, he relaxed and I was soon pulled back by Petra.
