a/n: thank you a bunch for 2k views on bones. surprised that this story is still getting views after the slacking update schedule from its author (oops), but i really do appreciate it. will try to ramp up the updates in the coming weeks x

it's also interesting to see the reaction on nate, who ironically is looking to become as polarising as vanessa, andrew, bea, marcus and scarlett (flashback to the best and fairest chapters). excited to see what the thoughts are for the remainder of smoke because i know some of you may not be too pleased once again 👀

.

It seemed a lot could happen in just a week, the amount of time I had spent in hospital. The several visits from Monique's favourite nurse who paid close attention to my wounds, and Kyle's interesting yet childish dynamic with Chris were just a few of things that made a week already painful just a bit bearable.

Before I knew it, the time had come to say goodbye to the hospital and of course Gage, who I had built a bit of a bond with for the duration of my stay. But as they say, all good things must come to an end.

Turns out that Daniel wasn't my biggest fan after finding out about my stay in the hospital through Zaine - out of all people apperently. Whilst trying to help save Tim from going to prison, he also had to worry about where his silly little cousin had disappeared too after not hearing anything from me. That was until Zaine answered my phone whilst I was getting spoken to by Gage by the nurse.

"Here you go Scarlett. Home sweet home." Nate exclaimed, walking through the door and into the apartment, as I trailed behind him. We had just arrived back from the hospital after I was discharged this morning.

Nate posed the suggestion of giving me a lift home, to which I finally gave into after he managed to convience me. I suppose it would of saved me from spending money on a taxi that I knew would be costly given my current suspension at work that still was yet to be lifted. Ironically enough, Daniel wasn't just annoyed about Zaine, but also the fact that Nate dropped me off from the hospital.

I get what his concerns were. Everytime I introduced him to a guy in the past that I had interest in, it always ended terribly. From Marcus to Andrew, I could tell my cousin didn't need another name to be added on the list.

It was almost surreal though. Just over a week away from the apartment and it still felt just as empty as it did before I ended up in hospital unfortunately.

"Yep, home sweet home." I repeated, gazing around the place that I had seen a million times since buying the place all those years ago. Although I still was thankful to be back home in one piece - despite almost losing my life because of Sophia's jealously. If it wasn't for Silas, I doubt that I would currently be standing here right now.

As I had found out, Sophia had misinterpreted my night with a Fox Sports intern to mean Mia, which the poor girl explained to me at the hospital. It was almost ironic that for some reason Sophia had thought I did the devil's tango with Mia in the bathroom stall. Almost ironic because at the end of the day I could of lost of my life had it not been for Silas turning off the electricity.

"Must feel nice to be back at home, doesn't it?" He softly added as I turned around to face the slender coach standing in front of me.

"Yeah, you could say so." I added with uncertainty. He hesistated for a moment before letting out a small smile appear as his expression.

"You're looking already healed than when you were first in there." Nate pointed out as I shrugged my shoulders.

"I feel more healed."

"So, what does it feel like now that you've done your time?" He asked casually, as I shrugged my shoulders, doing my best to put on a smile for his sake.
