A really amazing start. Very intriguing, and it was brilliantly done.
I was intrigued by the second chapter as to who the girl was and what relation she had to Astrid.
Slight dialogue issues but I've commented on them. Please check out other corrections I suggested.

Adjective or noun + gerund = hypen in between the words. E.g. Sweet-smelling. This also applies to Copper-haired.
Overall, a really fantastic start and not much bad news!
