Sehun idly scrolled through his notifications.

XiaYuTian is following you.

He clicked on the profile. XiaYuTian. Rainy days? Nice username.

Hang on. Who was that in the picture? Sehun squinted at the blurry image... but rolled his eyes when he identified the figure. Yu Tian Xia. That was her real name. Forget any smidgen of creativity.

He usually followed people back on Tumblr... But he wasn't about to follow the girl who always insisted on following him around in the school.

-

She was always a few steps behind him, like an unattached sort of shadow wandering never too far away. He thought she was kind of strange... and some kind of nuisance. She was forever only metres from him, running up to help when he ran into the slightest problem- like dropping his books, keys, papers etc-, and then trying to strike up a conversation. But they were like damp wood together. No sparks. No light. Nothing. He wondered if she knew the meaning of 'give up'. He wondered if she knew he didn't like her that way.

Xia did. She definitely knew, it was just that she never decided to pay it attention for she was a stubborn, persevering girl. She could get anything she wanted if she tried hard enough- except for a chance with Sehun, the boy she liked.

'Hey Sehun-' Xia began shakily, only to stop abruptly mid-sentence when he shot her a mildly annoyed look and stopped walking.

She went silent for a moment, and he strode away.

XiaYuTian: Hi Sehun :)

XiaYuTian: How're you going?

XiaYuTian: ... Are you there?

Sehun logged off.

The next day, when Sehun set foot into the school, he didn't have a shadow. She wasn't there. As he shifted the folders about in his arms, he looked around, wondering where she had gone.

He spotted her talking animatedly to another guy.

Sehun felt immensely guilty. 'She actually gave up,' he murmured to himself, staring at the chatting pair.

And the day dragged on. Not once did Xia follow him like she had before. Not once.

There was a weird feeling inside him. Like a peculiar... empty feeling.

It felt weird not to have her at his elbow, speaking to him. It felt weird not to have her be the one to pick up his books when he dropped them (he may have done it one purpose once or twice to see if she would still help him). It felt weird when she didn't even spare him a glance.

Xia thought she'd never have a chance. And she was really at her limits. But then she met Chanyeol on an afternoon in the library and became good friends with him, sharing a similar taste for novels. He took her mind off him

Sehun felt hollow and uncomfortable the days following the day he named 'The Day'. (A/N That's too many days for day XD) It just didn't feel right without her.

'Ahem... Xia?'

He watched as the guy he had seen Xia with approached her with a shy grin on his face.

'Would you like to go out with me?'

Sehun's heart clenched painfully.

Xia's heart thudded as she stared at Chanyeol, breath hitching a little. 'What...?' she whispered.
