I went out with a group of friends and they were all college buddies, thank god not teachers. Since I was only 23, I was obviously more of a partier than the middle aged women with kids at my job and I loved to have fun and drink. The complete opposite of what a teacher is normally like, but if I wasn't doing it at the workplace it didn't matter what I did on my own time. I was dressed in really revealing clothes and I was so drunk out of my mind it was unbelievable. I could barely walk or keep my vision straight and I still managed to find my friends on the dance floor and dance with them. My friend Carter was even worse than I was though and she kept telling all of us she needed to be sick.
At first we laughed it off, but when we realized she was actually going to be sick we ran her out ourself and helped her relax. She got sick and we sat with her for a good fifteen minutes before making sure it was okay to get in the car to leave. Her and I obviously couldn't drive, so my friend Brielle drove since she was the least drunk out of all of us, she always had been. I sat in the passenger seat while Carter and Ashley sat in the back and I had my head against the window.
"I'm going to be sick again." I heard carter mumbled in the back and ashley went to press the window open, but Carter went to throw up on her. Ashley screamed so loud and Brielle swerved while driving multiple times to reach back and pull Carter toward the open window of three car. I reached back and helped her while I watched police lights come on behind us. My eyes softened and Brielle looked over at me.
"Bailey-I'm so drunk. I'm not going to pass the breathalyzer. I'm going to get my license taken away." She said and I looked up at her with my vision blurry. For some reason when I was drunk I didn't absolutely idiotic things and i quickly made her switch seats with me so I was in the drivers seat and she was in the passenger. I didnt know why I did it but I-"
"Hello, ma'am. Do you know why I pulled you over tonight?" I heard behind the shine of a flashlight. I winced at the light and it clicked off.
"Ms Collins? Bailey?" Officer Prescott, or Trevor, asked and my eyes widened.
"Yeah-um-I'm sorry. Hi." I said and he leaned down into the window more and he shined his light at Brielle and Carter and Ashely in the back.
"Everything Alright, ladies?" He asked and they nodded.
"I pulled you over because you were swerving." He said to me and I nodded.
"There were deer." I lied.
"Were there? I didn't see any." He said with a cocky smirk. It wasn't even a flirty smirk. He was just an asshole. He knew I was lying and he was being a dick.
"Can you step out the vehicle please?" He asked.
"Trevor-"
"Please?" He repeated and I sighed and got out. I stumbled forward some and his hands landed to my hips.
"You're drunk." He said.
"I'm fine. I'm almost home." I mumbled.
"I can't have you drive home like this with everyone in the car-let me breathalyze all of you and I'll get you all home. I don't want to screw you over." He sighed and they got out. He got us in a line and breathalyzed us, but I was still the least intoxicated.
"You can't drive." He sighed and I shook my head.
"I can drive. Just follow me home." I said and he ran his fingers through his hair.
"I'll follow your car to each of their houses-"
"This is my friends car." I chuckled and he nodded.
"So stay the night at the last friends house you drop off. You're not driving anywhere the way you are." He said and I went to get back in the car but he stopped me.
"Walk a straight line." He warned and I laughed at him.
"Trevor, we know each other. Just let me go-"
"I understand that I technically work with you now and that you're a teacher but I need to do this to save my job. Walk a straight line. When you're done I'm going to follow you to each of your friends house and I'll bring you home in my car. You can get one of your friends to get your car back to you tomorrow." He said.
"Okay." I mumbled and attempted to walk a straight line but it didn't work out well.
"I need a redo." I chuckled and started again but stumbled and tripped forward and he grabbed me and held me up.
"You should be getting arrested." He sighed and I shook my head.
"I can't get arrested. Just follow us." I said and he nodded.
"Go." He warned and I got in the car and started it again.
"You know him? He's so fucking hot." Carter spurred in the back and I rolled my eyes.
"I barely know him. He's the new cop at the school. He just stands there and watches over things all day." I mumbled as I started to drive and he started to follow.
"You should get closer to him. He's a cop, he has blue eyes and dark hair and tattoos on his arms. He's really fucking hot." Brielle said and I looked over to her.
"He's attractive, but I work with him so nothing would come out of it." I said and they laughed at me.
"Is he married? Get with him! Go have some drinks with him!" They said and I shrugged.
"I don't know if he's married or not. Nothings coming out of it I'm serious. I'm just working with him." I chuckled and Brielle nudged my shoulder.
"You have a little thing for him." She said and I shook my head with a smile.
"I do not-Ashely we're at your house. Get out." I chuckled.
"I'm going home with her too." Carter said and they both hugged me and Brielle from behind the seat and got out. I waited until they were both in before turning around and I got to Brielle's house.
"Are you taking your car home or staying at my place?" She asked.
"Taking my car home. I have to wake up and go to my trainer tomorrow morning." I said and I parked her car in the driveway. She got out the car and hugged me and I went to get in my car but felt someone grab my entire body and pull me away.
"You're not driving your car. Understand? I'll take you home. You were swerving so bad-"
"I live 5 minutes away, Trevor. You're not my father." I mumbled.
"I'm a cop. It's either I bring you to the station or you get in my car." He warned and I looked up at him.
"Why are you grabbing me-"
"Lets go." He said and he led me to his car. He had his hands on my shoulder and he let me sit in his passenger seat next to his computer and radio and everything. He got in after me and I hit a button on the dash and sirens started going off.
"Stop. We're in a neighborhood." He sighed and shut them off. I chuckled and he drove out but really fast.
"Where do you live?" He asked.
"Down the street." I said.
"I need an address-"
"114 Pine." I said and he nodded slowly and clenched his jaw.
"My friends think you're cute." I said and he looked over at me.
"Your friends aren't." He chuckled and my jaw dropped.
"You're so mean." I said.
"Nice cop in the day, mean cop at night." He shrugged.
"Do you think I'm cute?" I asked and his face got red.
"Aw you think I'm cute?" I asked again and he chuckled.
"No. You're acting like a kid. I shouldn't have let you drive your friends home. I should have put you all in my car and-"
"Don't change the subject. Are you married?" I asked and he nodded.
"Yes, I'm married." He said and my eyes softened.
"Oh. Sorry." I said.
"You know-it happens a lot more than you think." He said and I nodded slowly and rested my head against the window. I was so embarrassed it was unbelievable.
"114?" He asked as he pulled up in front of my house and I smiled weakly and got out.
"Thanks." I said.
"No problem." He said and I stumbled up to my house. I was so embarrassed. I felt like such an idiot for asking if he thought I was cute or if he was married. I wasn't looking forward to work either. I knew that when I saw him it would be so awkward.
