Y/N POV

"To conclude our tour, this is my office. As you may have observed, there's a spare desk in the small office attached to mine. That's where you'll be working," he said with a grin.

"Any questions?" He asked, politely.

He seemed peppy to see me, yet I remained expressionless and quiet.

"No, thank you, Mr. Jung. I guess I should take my leave now since I don't start working until tomorrow," I said without looking at him.

I turned my body toward him, still not making eye contact. I bowed and turned to exit the office when I was stopped.

"Is something wrong?" He quietly asked.

There's nothing holding me back, so why won't my feet move?

"No," I said sternly, without emotion. "My apologies, Mr. Jung, if I made you uncomfortable at all."

I felt as though I was finally able to move again. I need to leave. Not only does he work for NCT, but he lied about his position. 'Can you blame him?' I asked myself. Maybe he didn't want me to treat him any differently than I already do? Maybe he didn't want me to fear him? Or maybe-

Before I could get out of the door, he swiftly pulled me back inside and shut the door behind us. I kept my eyes away from his, refusing to look at him.

"Look at me."

My eyes remained averted from his.

"Is it because I lied?"

Finally, my eyes slowly met his.

"I'm sorry," he said, softly. "I know I shouldn't have, but I didn't want you to act differently because I'm a potential business deal."

His words couldn't hide the hint of hurt in his tone as he spoke them. My eyes too, couldn't hide the hurt in them. Does he think that's the kind of person I am?

"Do you really think I'd ever see you like that?" I asked, slightly hurt.

"No," he said sternly. "It was a precaution, but-"

"But we're strangers," I finished.

He slowly looked at me, his nervous eyes waiting for me to respond. I heaved a small sigh, regaining my composure.

"I was overreacting. You're right, we're strangers. I shouldn't have expected more," I said calmly, yet sharply.

"That's not what I-" he began.

"Again, I'll be taking my leave now, Mr. Jung. Enjoy the rest of your evening," I concluded as I exited his office.

I knew I'd see him again, as I'd hoped, but I didn't realize it would be like this.
