I can hold the world,
Ever so surely.
I will hold its weight in gold.
I shall also hold on,
Just by a thread,
To the world's wait in hours.
Yesterday, someone else,
Had a hold on the world,
And was waiting its hours,
And was holding its weight in gold.
But today,
I hold the world,
And I wait its hours,
And I hold its weight in gold.
Maybe tomorrow,
I will still hold the world.
Maybe a week from now,
I will still be waiting the world's hours.
Maybe a month from today,
I will still be holding the world.
I will still be waiting its hours.
And, a year from now,
I may have dropped the world,
And be waiting to carry it,
On my shoulders, once more.
But, even so,
Right now,
I can hold the world.
