it was a rainy day so you decided to have a quiet day in while your boyfriend went out with ethan for the day. you were watching 'me before you' and when it finished, you picked up your phone and went through twitter. you favourited a lot of nice and funny tweets.
"what is this?" you whispered to yourself, clicking on an account named @ihatey/n. your eyes widened as you inspected the hate account dedicated to you.
@ihatey/n- i honestly don't know what grayson sees in y/n. she's so ugly and fat.
@ihatey/n- HOW UGLY DOES Y/N LOOK IN HER LATEST INSTAGRAM POST OMMMMG 😂😂
@ihatey/n- if i see one more comment about 'y/n looking gorgeous', i'm actually gonna puke.
@ihatey/n- i wouldn't be surprised if grayson cheated on y/n. i'd encourage him to do it more often lol
your eyes scanned the very hurtful comment. tears pricked at your eyes and you tried hard to blink them away rapidly but it was no use. your tears fell without fail and soon, you were sobbing into your hands. you've always been an emotional person so comments like that really got to you. [a/n- if you're not an emotional person then soz]
you didn't realise time was passing quickly and grayson walked into the room, only to hear your crying.
"hey, hey, hey." grayson said as he quickly approached you. his eyes were widened and his mouth was slightly open, wondering what has gotten you this way. "babe, it's okay. what's wrong?"
you cried into his chest and pointed to your phone that was open on the hate account. grayson's arms were wrapped around you so he read the tweets from over your head. he got angry because he expected better from this 'fan'. he wanted all his fans to respect you and your relationship with grayson.
"it's just too much now, gray." you said shakily, inhaling deeply and watching grayson's expression change. "i don't know how to handle it anymore."
"that's how i was when ethan and i started our youtube career. the hate would get so bad that i'd contemplate leaving the channel. i thought the hate would never end and it hasn't ended. it will never end but i stuck through and look where i am today. i have the best family, the best job and the best girlfriend in the whole world." grayson explained making your heart practically swarm. you realised that grayson's gone through this process hundreds of times so he'd know and with his help, you could get through it.
"okay... i love you." you smiled at him, tear streaks staining your cheeks. he gently wiped your tears away with the pads of his thumbs.
"i love you more." he kissed your forehead and left the room, returning with his camera. you furrowed your brows has he began setting it up, placing the studio lights behind it.
"w-what are you-"
"i don't like seeing you cry, y/n. i'm gonna try my best to lessen the hate you get because you don't deserve any of it." he said gently, sitting next to you and kissing the palm of your hand before turning to the camera that was already recording. "hey guys. it's me, grayson and as you can see, i'm with my beautiful girlfriend."
you smiled at the camera but anyone could see how fake it was. grayson noticed felt his heart break because your smiles were always genuine.
"i'm here to address the hate that y/n gets on a regular basis. it's not right. my girlfriend has done absolutely nothing wrong to the fans or to me for anyone to send her hate. i came home and i found her crying because of it. who would ever want to come to their partner crying? not me and i'm certain no one else would want to either." grayson was controlling his temper because he didn't want to come off as aggressive and hurt his supportive and kind fans.
you were extremely quiet, nodding along to grayson's words. if you started talking about how the hate made you feel, you wouldn't be able to stop crying. grayson knew that which is why he didn't push you to talk. you were zoning out as grayson talked to the camera.
"so please... stop it with the hate. i love y/n with all my heart. i would take a freaking bullet to the heart for this girl, no joke. i am happy with her. don't make assumptions that she's cheating on me or that she's using me because i've never met anyone kinder or more honest than y/n. thank you to all the genuine fans who respect our relationship and are happy for us. i'm sorry if you don't like me and y/n being together but you gotta deal with it because we're in love." grayson exclaimed, saying the last bit in a goofy voice, pulling you into a side hug while closing his eyes and grinning. you laughed for the first time that day and you saw how happy it made grayson. "see you all later. i love you guys and i also love y/n very much. please respect her."
grayson ended the video and edited it later that night, posting it on yours and his twitter with ethan and thousands of other people retweeting it. sure, there was still comments saying that you forced grayson to make that video with him but majority of the comments were kind and apologetic. you did notice a huge decrease in the hate you got- it was still there but not as much as before and you couldn't thank grayson enough for it.
