"I bet that you cannot kiss the girl you like within the next twenty four hours."

Those very same words that Gwaine had spoke not only four hours before were rattling around Arthur's head like dice in a shaker. He could not get this bet out of his mind, and it was slowly driving him insane. Wherever he went the knights would smile or even wink knowingly at him and if he saw y/n he would turn around and walk the other way.  The thought of his lips touching against Y/n's made his stomach churn with excitement and his skin tremble with anxiety.

Arthur turned around a corner in the castle, his teeth chewing on his bottom lip as he thought of a way to get around the bet but he couldn't back out that would damage his pride and his reputation.

With his eyes on the floor he did not see Y/n walking up in front of him so he had no time to escape when she called his name.

"Arthur!"

He tried to turn around and ignore her persistent calls but she quickly caught up to him, slightly out of breath.

"What is wrong with you today?" She panted, leaning against he wall for support.

Y/n was confused and she was very hurt. Normally her 'relationship' with Arthur was good, they would talk about anything and everything and they would laugh until their stomaches ached, but today Y/n knew there had been a dynamic shift in the relationship.

"Nothing." Arthur grumbled, clearly not meeting Y/n's eyes. He wanted to avoid her gaze for she was like a mind reader and she would instantly form some concoction of an idea of what was wrong with him.

"Do not nothing me Pendragon." She jabs a finger towards his chest. He dodged her finger and rightly so for her fingers could carry the weight of the world on them. "Tell me what is wrong with you."

"Or you will what?" Feeling cocky Arthur stood tall, rolling his shoulders back, but one simple glare and raise of an eyebrow from Y/n caused him to slump back into his usual posture.

"Come here." Gesturing her head towards the nearest door, which just so happened to be Arthur's chambers, they walked inside the room. The second the door shut behind them Arthur slumped himself down on a chair. "Tell me what's wrong."

"I made a bet."

"You made a bet?" Clearly confused by Arthur's abrupt statement Y/n perched herself on the edge of the table.

"Yes." Arthur was desperately trying to elaborate but the words in his mind were not converting into words out loud.

Hurt had started to pang through Y/n's heart, so she pushed herself off the table. Figuring, in her head, that it was better to distance herself from the situation she went to leave.

Arthur saw from the corner of his eye the change in Y/n's emotions and deep down he knew it was because of him. A sudden split second design had caused Arthur to stand, grabbing Y/n's hand and spinning her into his chest. Completely out of breath she went to look up into his eyes when his lips touched hers.

They were both shocked at first, before they melted together, the taste of the other's lips to intoxicating to ignore.

Arthur's hands rested on Y/n's waist whilst her arms had wound around his neck, both desperately trying to pull the other closer.

Y/n knew a thousand and one things about Arthur but with Arthur's lips against hers, she couldn't even remember her own name.

Arthur pulled away, his chest swirling in happiness, as he stared into Y/n's eyes contently.

"Can you tell the knights, because they will never believe me."

Y/n gapsed, realising that she was the bet, gently shoving Arthur in the shoulder.

"Maybe." Y/n was teasing and by the smile slowly trekking onto Arthur's lips he knew it. "Maybe if you kiss me again I will."

There was no hesitation before Arthur re-joined their lips.
